Presnel Kimpembe Career

Club career

Kimpembe made his professional debut for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on October 17, 2014 against Lens, bringing on Thiago Motta after 76 minutes in a 3–1 away win. In a 4–0 victory over Barcelona, he made his UEFA Champions League debut on February 14, 2017, keeping a clean sheet.

In an away match against Manchester United on February 12, Kimpembe scored his first goal against PSG against Manchester United, beating Manchester United in the 53rd minute, turning home at the far-post from an ngel Di Marra corner. However, in the return leg at Parc des Princes in Paris, he hopped to stop a shot from Diogo Dalot in injury time, which was then given as a warning for handball after the referee called VAR. PSG continued to lose the match 3–1 and were then eliminated due to the away goals rule.

Kimpembe signed a PSG contract extension on July 11, a long-term commitment that will run until 2024. PSG advanced to the final of the tournament in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League by losing 1–0 to Bayern Munich. Kimpembe was a spectator in the match. In a 4–0 Coupe de France victory over Vannes on January 3rd 2022, he scored his second goal for the club. He also assisted in the success of a Kylian Mbappé goal. In a 5–1 victory over Lille on 6 February, Kimpembe scored his first Ligue 1 goal.

International career

After Eliaquim Mangala sustained an injury for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Netherlands in October 2016, Kimpembe received his first call up to the senior France team. William Gallas, a former Arsenal and Chelsea footballer, said Kimpembe is the future of the French team in January 2018. Kimpembe's first team debut came on March 27th, a year and a half after his first call-up in a friendly against Russia. In the 72nd minute of a 3–1 away victory, he came on for Ousmane Dembélé.

He was selected to the 23-man French squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Moscow on May 17th. Kimpembe won the World Cup with France in 2018, a tournament in which he spent a total of 90 minutes against Denmark in the group stage.

He was selected in the 2020 European Championships' 26 man squad on May 1821. He appeared in all four matches for France, playing in every minute of the tournament until their eventual loss to Switzerland in the round of 16.

Following a well-publicized controversy, PSG boss Christophe Galtier has clarified the leadership structure within his PSG team. According to reports from France, Galtier was forced to hold crisis talks with Presnel Kimpembe after he said that Kylian Mbappe was the club's vice captain under Marquinhos. Mbappe was handed the armband for the first time during his time with the Parisian giants, repaying his bosses with five goals in a French Cup victory over Pays de Cassel on Monday.

On Thursday night, Paris Saint-Germain's stars came out in force at a charity gala in the French capital, amid rumors regarding Lionel Messi's future and the vice-captaincy saga. Neymar, Lionel Messi, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos, Marco Verratti were just some of the celebrities who were on display at Strong3r's charity, which was founded by defender, Presnel Kimpembe. The second iteration of the gala took place with the intention of raising funds through auctions of a variety of sporting memorabilia from the French national team and PSG stars.

After seeing Kylian Mbappe's dismissal, PSG boss Christophe Galtier holds showdown talks with Presnel Kimpembe

Presnel Kimpembe (left) of PSG was left out after being kept in the dark about his demotion as vice captain in favour of superstar forward Kylian Mbappe (inset), who enjoys a lot of autonomy at the club following his signing a new three-year deal this summer. And as L'Equipe, a French publication, Christoph Galtier (right), the previous deputy's boss, held straight-to-air discussions with the 27-year-old to clarify his position. The Parisian giants defeated sixth-tier Pays de Cassel 7-0 in the French Cup last 16 on Monday, with Mbappe scoring five goals as he wore the armband for the first time in his five-and-a-half years with the club. Brazilian Marquinhos is the normal captain, but he was left out when the armband went to Mbappe rather than Kimpembe, instead of Kimpembe.
