Samu Castillejo Career

Club career

Castillejo was born in Barcelona, Catalonia, where his father, a Guardia Civil officer, was stationed at the time; the family was redirected in Málaga, Andalusia, within a few months. He came from Málaga CF's youth system in 2011 and spent three years with the reserves, and then went on to play three seasons in Tercera División. In Spanish, he was given the name El Fideo ("the noodle") due to his "wiry frame and his ability to squirm away in tight spaces.

Castillejo was called up by first-team boss Javi Gracia for the pre-season in June 2014. In a 3–1 friendly victory over Newcastle United in which he scored twice, he was named player of the match. He was called to the main squad the following month.

Castillejo made his debut with the first team on August 29, 2014, appearing as a replacement for fellow youth graduate Juanmi in the 57th minute of a 3–0 La Liga away loss to Valencia CF. In a home win over the same opposition on February 2, he scored his first professional goal on February 2nd.

Castillejo and his Málaga teammate Samu Garca joined Villarreal CF on June 18, 2015, extending to five years. In his third season, he scored six times, leading his team to qualifying for the UEFA Europa League after a fifth-place finish.

Castillejo signed with AC Milan on August 17, 2018, with Carlos Bacca moving in the opposite direction. On August 31, he made his Serie A debut, leading to a 2–1 win over A.S. Roma in San Siro. In a 4–1 away win over Sassuolo, he scored his first goal for the club on September 30th.

Castillejo was a top priority during the summer 2021 transfer window, despite a number of bids, he and his agent were unable to decide on a particular one. He was dropped from a 25-player squad list for the UEFA Champions League.

Castillejo signed a three-year deal with Valencia on July 12, 2022.

Valencia demonstrators host a mass protest demanding that owner Peter Lim be released from the club

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 12, 2023
Valencian fans held a demonstration against Athletic Bilbao, where they called for owner Peter Lim to leave the club ahead of their LaLiga game against Athletic Bilbao. Fans packed the streets around the Mestalla, with some of them carrying banners reading 'Lim, go home' written over them, sparking their chanting. Valencian citizens are dissatisfied with the way Lim operates at the club and have long been demanding new ownership.

During the Champions League final for AC Milan, Gennaro Gattuso bizarrely claimed to see the VIRGIN MARY

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 5, 2022
The physical midfielder was playing for the Italian team in the European showpiece (second left) when they went 3-0 up but then succumbed to a second-half comeback from the Reds before losing on penalties. And Valencian boss Gattuso (inset), speaking after his side's 5-1 victory over Getafe on Sunday in an interview published by Marca, despite Milan's loss, he still remembered Jesus' mother (right). I'm a bit ill.' I'm a bit yucky.' We've lost a goal, we've missed some passes, and Ilaix (Moriba) was given a warning. We must all play 100 minutes at our best, concentrated level. We were 3-0 upbeat against Liverpool in the Champions League final, but I didn't know the Virgin Mary in person. You should play with reverence and always be at your best in football,' he says.'
