Calum Chambers Career

Club career

Chambers, a native of Petersfield, Hampshire, joined Southampton at the age of seven. Chambers came up through the ranks at the club, and he was announced as one of four youth players to be promoted to the first team at the start of the 2012–2013 season. He made a number of appearances for the team over the past season, including in the Memorial Cup against Anderlecht and a second-half substitute, as well as late appearances against Ajax and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chambers made his complete debut for Southampton on August 28th, 2012, defeating Stevenage 4–1 in the second round of the League Cup, with Dean Hammond replacing him on 84th-minute and providing the assistance for the final goal of the match. Ben Reeves came from 84th-minute substitute Dean Hammond.

Chambers and Southampton have signed a new four-year deal on July 31, 2013. In a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in his first-team league debut on August 17th, he saw the complete 90 minutes at right-back in the 2013-14 season. He made 25 appearances for Southampton in all competitions, of which 22 were in the league before being released in the summer of 2014.

Arsenal had signed a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee, bringing the total cost to a potential £16 million with performance-related add-ons up to a potential £16 million.

In a 5–1 victory over Benfica in the pre-season Emirates Cup tournament, Chambers made his first appearance for Arsenal on August 2nd, starting in central defense. Chambers made his competitive debut for Arsenal on August 10th, playing 90 minutes of the 2014 FA Community Shield against Premier League champions Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. The BBC announced that he played centre-back rather than his normal right-back role to cover Per Mertesacker, "his mature performance defied his youthful years." Chambers won by 2–1 over Crystal Palace in his first Premier League match for Arsenal. In the first leg of Arsenal's Champions League play-off against Beşiktaş, he played his first European fixture of his career three days later, a goalless draw.

Chambers was nominated for the 2014 Golden Boy award by a strong start to the season, as well as international colleagues Raheem Sterling, Luke Shaw, and John Stones. Arsenal beat Burnley 3–0 in a Premier League home victory on Saturday, with him scoring his first senior goal of his career and registering an assist. Arsenal lost 3–2 at Stoke City on December 6, bringing him right back to his early days in his career.

Chambers' appearances in the second half of the season were limited by the appearance of Héctor Bellern at right-back. When Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 4–0 at Wembley Stadium on May 30th, he was not in the team's matchday squad.

In a 3–4 loss to Liverpool in the first match of the season, Chambers began the 2016–17 Premier League in the starting lineup for Arsenal, scoring in a 3–4 loss in the first game of the season.

Chambers joined Middlesbrough in the Premier League on a season-long loan on August 30, 2016. He made his debut against Tottenham Hotspur in the league on September 24, 2016. In a 2–2 draw against Manchester City on 30 April 2017, he scored his only goal for the club. Chambers was a key figure on the team before his return to Arsenal, and he made a total of 26 appearances for Middlesbrough.

In the 1–0 victory over Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup, Chambers made his first appearance of the 2017-18 season, but he was forced to miss halftime due to injury.

Chambers signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal on July 3, 2018.

Chambers joined Fulham in the Premier League on a season-long loan on August 7, 2018. He made his debut against Crystal Palace in the league on August 11th, defeating them 2–0. In a 4–2 victory over Brighton on January 29, he would score his first goal for the club. Despite the fact that Chambers had been playing as a centre-back or full-back during his tenure at Fulham, his best days in this new role culminated in him winning the 2018 Fulham Player of the Season award, more than three times, with 48.4 percent of the votes—more than any other player nominated.

Chambers returned to Arsenal ahead of Fulham's relegation from the Premier League in 2019. In a 3–2 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, he scored his first goal of the season. Arsenal's goal sparked the comeback of 10-man Arsenal, who had to come back from behind twice to pick up all three points. In Arsenal's 5–0 EFL Cup victory over Nottingham Forest two days later, Chambers played the full 90-minutes at right-back, with three players contributing three assists.

In a 2–1 loss to Chelsea, the chambers ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee. As a result, he was forecast to be out of action for six to nine months.

In a 4–1 win over Rapid Vienna on December 3, Chambers returned to the first team after his injury in his return to the first team since his return to action. In a 1–1 away draw against Burnley on 6 March 2021, he made his first Premier League appearance since December 2019. In a 3–3 draw against West Ham United on March 21, he was in the starting lineup once more, putting in a Man of the Match effort.

Chambers joined Aston Villa on a free transfer on January 27, 2022, after completing a three-and-a-half year deal. After Ezri Konsa was given a red card, he made his debut on September 9th as a late replacement in a 3–3 draw against Leeds United. In a 3–0 victory over Leeds on March 10, he scored his first goal for the club.

International career

Chambers made his England under-17 debut against Portugal on February 2nd. He appeared in all three of the squad's matches in the 2012 UEFA European Under-17 Championship elite round, scoring their first goal of the tournament in a 1–0 victory over Ukraine.

Chambers took the field over the England Under-19 team in the 2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying round on September 26, 2012, playing the full 90 minutes. In the England under-19 team's match against the Faroe Islands, which England defeated 6–0, Chambers came on on as a second-half replacement in the England under-19 team's match against the Faroe Islands, which England won 6–0, scoring the final goal of the match in the 84th minute. In a 1–0 victory over Turkey on March 21, 2013, he scored his second under-19 international goal.

He was born in the senior England squad for the first time on August 28th, ahead of a friendly against Norway and a Euro 2016 qualification match against Switzerland in September. He made his debut against Norway on September 3rd and appeared in the last nine minutes in place of John Stones as England defeated 1–0 at Wembley Stadium. Chambers was initially selected for the under-21 team and then moved to the senior squad of the European qualifiers against San Marino and Estonia in October 2014. On October 9th at Wembley Stadium, he was getting his second cap against San Marino, playing at right-back against former Southampton teammate Nathaniel Clyne.

Chambers then defeated the Czech Republic in Prague in 11-0, defeating the Czech Republic in March 2015. He was part of the Toulon Tournament in 2016, the team's first major victory in 22 years.

Chambers was called up to England's squad for the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, which will be hosted in Poland, on June 5th. Chambers continued to compete in the semi-finals of the tournament, where England lost on penalties to Germany.

Pau Torres, the Aston Villa defender, will have to have a scan after he suffered a minor injury and was forced to leave during the victory over Nottingham Forest

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 24, 2024
As Aston Villa face a daunting challenge to see if their key defender faces another spell on the sidelines, Pau Torres will undergo a scan this week. Following an injury layoff, the Spain international was playing just his second game back after only one replacement appeared in two months due to an ankle injury. He was taken off at halftime against Nottingham Forest, who were defeated 4-2 at Villa Park on Saturday. Unai Emery, Villa's boss, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa, and Diego Carlos are all missing, Villa boss Unai Emery can hardly afford for Torres to attend them. Despite being told he could leave in January, Villa ended the game with Clement Lenglet and Calum Chambers in central defense.

West Brom is investigating a move for Calum Chambers, with the Baggies eager to add another Aston Villa defender out of favour to help their Championship promotion campaign

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 1, 2024
SIMON JONES: West Brom are among those who have inquired about the possibility of transferring Calum Chambers from Aston Villa this morning. Chambers is out of favour at Villa Park, and has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season. The former Arsenal defender has played just 31 times for Villa in less than two years, and at 29, he would make a good choice for the Baggies.

Aston Villa must wait until next month to announce new contracts with out-of-favour duo Bertrand Traore and Calum Chambers, who have agreed to go

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 12, 2024
TOM COLLOMOSSE: Boss Unai Emery has not ruled out expanding his squad this winter, but he acknowledges that Villa must sell first and that they should also monitor Financial Fair Play laws. Even though Emery is reluctant to allow midfielder Leander Dendoncker to leave on a temporary basis, the Belgian international's loan offers persist, but he can still be sold in this window. Villa is open to letting forward Jhon Duran, who does not have an eye with Emery, leave on loan, but only if they are positive they will replace him, and for Ollie Watkins, who needs back-up.
