Lucie Silvas Career

Career

Silvas was signed to EMI Records in 2000. "It's Too Late," her debut single in June 2000, debuted at No. 9 in the United States. In the UK Singles Chart, the number 62 stands out. An album titled Forget Me Not was also planned for release, but EMI terminated her deal due to the single's poor reception.

Chrysalis Records (an EMI affiliate) contacted her in 2001, this time for songwriting. She signed a publishing deal and, despite being without a record label to promote her music, she continued writing and was released by British artists such as Sarah Whatmore, Will Young, Gareth Gates, Rachel Stevens, and Liberty X. Many of Silva's songs for other artists have debuted on the charts.

Silvas recorded a duet with the Spanish singer Natalia called "This Time," in 2003, and she wrote the first single on Natalia's third album, "Sombras" (Shadows). Silvas wrote "I'm Not Your Girlfriend" for Spanish singer Cristie the previous year.

Silvas signed a recording contract with Mercury Records in 2003. Breathe Ink was her second album, and it would have been her official debut album in October 2004. Much of Breathe In was co-written by Mike Peden, for whom Silvas sang back vocals for many years. Silvas' career was tracked by a radio show to monitor her evolution in the music industry, as well as including her songs on her playlist. What You Made Of, the album's first single, debuted at number seven on the official UK charts, and the following week, the album debuted and peaked at number 11 (returning to this position in early 2005). Silvas performed her second single from the album, "Breathe In," following television appearances on the Ivor Novello Elton John tribute show and "All Time Greatest Love Songs" with Ronan Keating, her second highest UK chart peak to date. Silvas also released additional singles; "The Game Is Won" and "Don't Look Back" topped the charts at 38 and 34 respectively.

Silvas brought her music to Europe, including Germany and the Netherlands, where she released "Nothing Else Matters," a tribute to the Metallica album, following the release of the "Breathe In" single in the United Kingdom. The Breathe In album was also released in the Netherlands as a special 2-disc version with a complete live concert held there. She also re-recorded "What You Made Of" for the Spanish and French markets, where she collaborated with Antonio Orozco and Grégory Lemarchal respectively. The album's fourth and final single from the album was a re-recorded version of the song starring the Metropole Orchestra.

Silvas embarked on her second UK tour, beginning in Brighton on November 2nd, 2005, with Breathe Inn certified Platinum in the United Kingdom.

Silvas' second album, The Same Side, was released in 2006. It was first in the Netherlands and was produced by Danton Supple (who had made Coldplay's X&Y album). "Everytime I Think of You," Marco Borsato's duet, was the first single to be released in the Netherlands, peaking at No. 1. 35 on downloads only, and in the next three weeks, she will debut the Dutch Top 40 in the Netherlands Top 40, the first Number 1 single. In the Netherlands, a DVD of The Same Side has also been released.

"Last Year" was the album's first single in the United Kingdom and Ireland, debuted on BBC Radio 2 in late August 2006, but it didn't chart. Mercury Records had to postpone the UK launch of the album, which had been planned for October 2006. On March 5, 2007, a second single, "Sinking In," was released as a download only single in the United Kingdom and Ireland, but this too failed to chart. On March 12, 2007, the album was finally released in the United Kingdom, charting at No. 11 in the UK. In its first week, the UK Albums Chart reached 62 points before falling out of the Top 100 the following week.

Silvas was subsequently dropped by her brand after her Side failed to make an impact on the charts. She has spent time in Nashville, Tennessee, and New York City, as well as in British studios. Several demonstrations have been recorded and broadcast on several websites on the internet, including Silvas' official Myspace page. Silvas revealed in August 2009 that she was co-writing tracks for Katharine McPhee's album Unbroken, as well as writing for Australian singer Delta Goodrem. Silvas told followers on Twitter that she was already planning a European tour in September 2009. Silvas spent some time in the studio with Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud in February 2010.

Silvas' then-fortcoming album, Letters to Ghosts, was revealed in February 2011. "Happy," "Reset," "Somebody Stop Me")," and "Roots" are among the albums' free downloads, the last of which were included in the album's free download prior to its introduction on SoundCloud in April 2011. On her 2011 tour, she has also helped Jamiroquai. Silvas announced on June 8, 2011, that she had stopped recording her album.

Silvas appeared on Una Healy and Chris Holmes' album On Your Radar in July 2011, Silvas worked on a new song with Una Healy and Chris Holmes, written by Silvas, Healy, and Chris Holmes.

Silvas wrote songs for NBC's musical drama, Smash, in early 2013. "Heart Shaped Wreckage," "Don't Let Me Know," "Don't Let Me Know," and "Calling Out My Name" are among the show's second season's hit list of songs based on the fictional musical developed for that show's second season.

Silvas sang "Little Civil Wars," a duet with Dave Barnes on his Golden Days project in 2014.

Lucie released her self-titled EP in the United States and Canada on February 3, 2015, just days before its European debut. Silvas, John Osborne, and Ian Fitchuk produced the latest album, "Furthestpoint," on Silvas' own label, "Furthestpoint."

Letters to Ghosts was first published on September 18, 2015. Silvas co-wrote "Smoking Jacket" and provided Miranda Lambert with back-up vocals on her 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings.

Silvas performed at the O2 Arena in March 2017 as part of the C2C: Country to Country festival, premiering two new songs, "Just for the Record" and "My Old Habits," before announcing that new music would be released in 2018.

Silvas announced her fourth studio album, E.G.O., on May 31, 2018, as well as the lead single, "Kite" on the same day. The album was released on August 24, 2018.
