Ronan Patrick John Keating (born 3 March 1977) is an Irish writer, singer/songwriter, guitarist, and philanthropist.

He debuted with Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch, and Stephen Gately as the co-lead singer of Irish band Boyzone in 1994 (with Gately).

He started his solo career in 1999 and has sold ten albums.

He gained worldwide fame when his single "When You Say Nothing at All" was featured in the film Notting Hill and debuted at number one in several countries.

He has sold over 20 million records worldwide, as well as the 25 million with Boyzone, and in Australia, he is best known as a judge on "All Together Now" and The Voice in 2016.

Keating has been involved in charitable work and has served as a charity fundraiser for the Marie Keating Foundation, which raises concerns for breast cancer and honors those who died from the illness in 1998.

Early life

Keating was born on March 3, 1977, the youngest of five children. He grew up in Bayside, Dublin, and County Meath, and attended St. Fintan's High School. Gerry Keating, his father, was a lorry driver, and his mother Marie was a mobile hairdresser. Linda has one sister and three brothers, Ciarán, Gerard, and Gary. He competed in several tournaments and represented Ireland in many tournaments, winning the All Ireland under-13 200 meters championship.

Personal life

Keating married Yvonne Connolly in April 1998. They have three children together: a son Jack, born in 1999, and daughters Marie (known as "Missy") and Ali were born in 2001 and 2005. Keating and Connolly separated in 2010 after they were announced in March 2015.

Storm Uechtritz, his second wife, married her on August 17, 2015. Cooper Archer Keating was born on April 26, 2017. They announced in November 2019 that they were expecting their second child together. Coco Knox Keating's daughter was born on March 27, 2020.

Keating was named an honorary doctorate from The Open University on May 16, 2022, for his contributions to philanthropy and music.

Ronan Keating, then 16, was the youngest to join Boyzone in 1993. As Boyzone representatives, Keating, Keith Duffy, Richard Rock, Shane Lynch, Mark Walton, and Stephen Gately were selected. Walton and Rock would leave the company shortly before being replaced by Michael Graham. The group appeared in various clubs and pubs before being signed by PolyGram in 1994 and released a cover version of "Working My Way Back to You" by The Four Seasons. In addition, the corporation has introduced a cover version of "Love Me for a Reason" that will debut on several charts. His mother died of breast cancer at the age of 51 in 1998, resulting in the establishment of the Marie Keating Foundation.

Keating married Yvonne Connolly in April 1998, and the two children, Jack (born 15 March 1998) and Ali (born 7 September 2005), were married at 21 years old and together, have three children: Jack (born 15 March 1998) and Ali (born 7 September 2005). After Keating had an affair, the couple are now divorced.

Keating produced a version of "When You Say Nothing at All" for the motion picture Notting Hill in 1999, while still a member of Boyzone. Several skeptic reviews were given to the album, but it did sell over 750,000 copies and became one of the country's top-selling albums of the year. Ronan was named two-time platinum by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry in 2001 for two million copies sold within Europe.

"When You Say Nothing at All" (originally recorded for the soundtrack of Notting Hill's 1999 film Notting Hill), "Life Is a Rollercoaster," "The Way You Make Me Feel"), and "Live For Every Day," the latter of which was included on the album's re-release version, and later on Keating's second album, Destination (2002). Also from the film "Summer catch" is the song "Live Every Day."

Ronan Keating's debut album continued on with his solo career and has since released four more studio albums: Destination (2002), Turn It On (2003), ten Years of Hits (2005), and Bring It Home (2006), four of which reached number one in the UK Albums Chart. For these albums, Keating collaborated with many well-known celebrities, including Elton John, Lulu, LeAnn Rimes and the Bee Gees.

The 2001 hit single "The Long Goodbye" by Keating and Paul Brady, one of Keating's most popular hits amongst enthusiasts and a big hit for Brooks & Dunn in the United States, was co-authored by Keating and Paul Brady. For the single, Keating and Brady received the "BMI European song-writing award." In 2003, Keating was named Rear of the Year, an award given to celebrities with a long history. Keating was one of the first artists to have 30 top-ten singles in the United Kingdom chart in October 2007, defeating Elvis Presley's likes. Keating has performed on two world tours, received the Ivor Novello and BMI songwriting awards, published an autobiography, and has sold more than 22 million albums worldwide. He created two fragrances in 2007, based on Sicilian lemon, lavender, and Clary sage scents. The Marie Keating foundation has received all funds.

Keating appeared at the 2006 FIFA World Cup opening party at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, Germany, in front of a crowd of nearly 250,000 people, and posed for the Cosmopolitan magazine's ten-year anniversary of Naked Centrefolds. Keating was the first international number one selling foreign artist to perform a concert in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on May 9, 2007. Keating appeared at the Olympic Stadium Indoor Arena in Vancouver. Keating has appeared at Madison Garden in New York, has sung for the Pope twice and appeared for Prince Charles at the Prince's Trust 30th birthday, which took place at the Tower of London. He appeared on stage at Crown Princess Victoria's birthday celebrations and the 19th European Athletic Championships in Gothenburg's opening ceremony.

Boyzone would reunite for a special appearance on the BBC's annual fundraiser, Children in Need, a medley of hits, although Keating had yet to comment on the possibility of a new tour or album. They began a 29-date tour in Glasgow, Newcastle, Liverpool, and London, as part of the O2 Arena and Wembley, Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Newcastle, Newcastle, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Edinburgh, and the RDS in Dublin. The latest Boyzone album Brother was released in March 2010 and debuted at number one in the United Kingdom and Ireland with 500,000 copies with no advertisement to add to the singles' who sold 175,000 copies.

In Australia and New Zealand, Keating unveiled Duet, his seventh studio album. "Believe Again" was released as the album's lead single and featured guest vocals from Australian singer Paulini.

In 2010, Keating joined the X Factor judging panel, where he remained for five seasons. He was the winning mentor on two occasions, with Altiyan Childrens in 2010 and Marlisa Punzalan in 2014.

During February and March 2011, he joined Boyzone on a 21-date tour of the Ireland and Ireland, where each of the band members earned £1 million. It was said that it was a tour dedicated to their brother, 'Steo,' the band announced. Guy Sebastian, a singer/songwriter from Australia, appeared as the support act. When Ronan Met Burt, Keating issued an album of covers titled When Ronan Met Burt on March 21, 2011. He shot scenes for his debut in Australia in April; the film, Goddess, was released on March 14th.

He appeared in Dortmund, Germany, in front of a crowd of 16,500 people.

Keating toured Australia and New Zealand in the beginning of 2012 at the state theatre in Sydney, Brisbane's Centuries Centre, Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Canberra Royal Theatre, Wollongong Entertainment Centre, Wollongong Festival Centre, Perth Festival Theatre, and Perth Kings Park in front of 29,000 people, all earning 1.6 million pounds.

He toured Malta in July 2012 and performed with Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja and Italian pop-singer Gigi D'Alessio. Later that evening, he joined his staff for dinner at Palazzo Parisio.

Fires, his ninth studio album (the fifth to feature original content) was released in the United Kingdom and Australia on September 3rd, 2012. It was released by Universal Music and was written by Keating and Gregg Alexander. Keating set off on a short promotional tour in the Faroe Islands on August 3rd, 58,000 viewers, 5 August at the jót festival in Iceland and Germany and Australia, as well as appearances in Germany and Australia.

Keating appeared at Colston Hall in Birmingham, The O2 Arena, Brighton Centre, Nottingham City Hall, Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, Birmingham City Hall, Birmingham City Hall, Manchester University Arena, Birmingham City Hall, Blackpool City Hall, Newcastle City Hall, Clyde Auditorium, and the AECC in Ireland in 2013 to a crowd of 80,000 fans.

In September 2013, Keating collaborated with X Factor judge Dannii Minogue to record a duet of Christmas classic "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" for department store chain Myer's "The Spirit of Christmas 2013" collection.

Keating was announced as Ricky Martin's replacement on The Voice Australia on December 24th, 2015. On the program, Keating appeared alongside Jessie J, Delta Goodrem, and The Madden Brothers. After one season on television, Keating announced his departure on December 7th. Kelly Rowland was brought to him.

In February 2016, Keating released Time of My Life, his tenth studio album. At number 95, the single "Let Me Love You" charted at number 95.

Keating unveiled his eleventh studio album, Twenty Twenty Twenty, in February 2020. It was announced on July 24, 2020, the first version was released on July 24th. At number 17, the single "One of A Kind" charted at number 17.

Comedian Leigh Francis performed a version of the Band Aid song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" on December 20, 2020. Keating was featured in many charities (with proceeds going to The Trussell Trust, Crisis, Unicef, Shelter, and Samaritans), and others.

Ronan Keating's 'Don't Stop Me Eatin'" by LadBaby was released on December 21, 2020, a new interpretation of the charity Christmas number one contender "Don't Stop Me Eatin' starring Roxanne Hoyle (a single also raising funds for The Trussell Trust).

Keating released Songs from Home in November 2021, a collection to respect his homeland of Ireland.

According to overnight figures, the launch episode of series 17 saw an average of 5 million viewers tuning in, with a peak of 5.8 million. The ratings make it ITV's biggest overnight audience of the year so far since The FA Cup quarter final match last month, which garnered 5.5 million viewers.
