Early life
Carole King and Gerry Goffin are two of Goffin's parents. Sherry and her sister, Sherry, were vocalists on her mother Carole King's album Wrap Around Joy, which was released in 1974. She also performed backing vocals on Carole King's 1975 release Really Rosie and her 1977 debut Simple Things. The Lakshme name was used by a Los Angeles school's Interdisciplinary Program School (1975). Keith "Lucky" Leher, Marla and Michelle, Joy Miller's daughters, were among the victims of the Wonderland murders.
Career as recording artist
Jackson Browne's debut public appearance at the Troubadour when she was 17 years old. Kid Blue, Danny Kortchmar's debut album, was released on Elektra Records in 1979.
Goffin was the youngest artist on the soundtrack to Fast Times at Ridgemont High. She lived in England between 1984 and 1994 and set two records before deciding on WEA. This Is the Place, which was released in 1988, was the VH1 hit "Bridge of Sighs." The following UK album was recorded 1990-1 at Astoria Studios, a houseboat built in 1911 for and once owned by impresario Fred Karno, now a recording studio operated by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. A rare edition of UK Eastwest Records includes a remix of the U2 song "Sweetest Thing" as well as additional lyrics by Bono.
Goffin released Sometimes a Circle, a collection of Greg Wells' album that was released by the DreamWorks label in 2002.
Goffin founded Majority Of One Records in 2008 to produce her first independent album, the eight-song Bad Little Animals. She continues to record her music through Majority Of One, including Songs From The Mine, which features back vocals from Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp on "Watching The Sky Turn Blue"; Appleonfire, a tribute to her late father; The Essential Louise Goffin, Vol. 1, a mix of highlights from her previous three albums with new ones; and several singles. All These Hellos, co-produced with Dave Way and starring Chris Difford from Squeeze, Rufus Wainwright, Van Dyke Parks, and Billy Harvey, was released in fall 2018. Billy Harvey, Van Dyke Parks, Benmont Tench, and Greg Leisz co-produced her forthcoming album Two Different Movies, which was released in 2020. A sketch of Louise drawn by Joni Mitchell is included in the album cover art.
Due to her mother's influence on King's "Where You Lead," Goffin performed on the theme song for Gilmore Girls. Goffin didn't know how popular the show was until many years later, but it celebrated its success and attended the Gilmore Girls Fan Fest.
