Vince Clarke Life

Vince Clarke (born Vincent John Martin; 3 July 1960) is an English synth-pop singer and songwriter.

Clarke has been the main composer and singer of the band Erasure since its inception in 1985, and has served as the main songwriter of several bands, including Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and the Assembly.

He is best known for his deadpan and low key demeanour onstage, often lingering motionless over his keyboard in direct contrast to Andy Bell's animated and hyperkinetic frontman antics.

Erasure has written over 200 songs and has sold more than 25 million albums around the world.

Early life

Vincent John Martin was born in South Woodford, Essex, and later moved to Basildon, Essex. He started studying the violin and then piano, but after hearing Wirral synth band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, he was inspired to make electronic music. The Human League, Daniel Miller, and Fad Gadget were all early influences, as well as OMD.

Personal life

Clarke has been married to Tracy Hurley since 2004. They have a son named Oscar and live in Brooklyn, New York City, with another home in Maine. Tracy Hurley is a co-founder of the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn (now closed). Tonya Hurley, the American author, is married to Michael Pagnotta, the former head of Erasure.

Vince Clarke Career

Career

Clarke and schoolmate Andy Fletcher formed No Romance in China in the late 1970s, with Clarke on vocals and guitar and Fletcher on bass guitar. Clarke, 1979, joined The Plan, an Ultravox-influenced band, alongside Robert Marlow and Paul Langwith.

Clarke and Fletcher formed Composition of Sound in 1980, and Martin Gore followed them shortly after. Clarke served as vocals until the band's Depeche Mode, which was renamed Depeche Mode, was born. Vince Clarke, by that time, he was best known as the stage name Vince Clarke. In 1981, the band first recorded a slick synthed electropop sound, resulting in the album "Dreaming of Me," "New Life," and "Just Can't Get Enough."

Clarke left Depeche Mode just after. Many plausible explanations were given for his departure. He criticized Depeche Mode's older stuff as being a little too dark for his taste, but it was still good. Clarke also stated that he did not enjoy the public aspects of success, such as touring and interviews, and that he often found himself in conflict with his bandmates, especially on the tour bus. "I believe everyone in the band, especially myself, believed that the reason we were doing so well was because of ourselves." Clarke was displaced by guitarist Alan Wilder, and Depeche Mode went on to become a global superstar.

Clarke then joined up with singer Alison Moyet (known as "Alf") to form Yazoo (pronounced as Yaz in the United States), which released two albums and a string of hits, including "Only You," "Don't Go," "The Other Side of Love," "Nobody's Diary," and "Walk Away from Love."

In 1983, Yazoo was disbanded, and Moyet went on to have a fruitful solo career. To celebrate 25 years since the duo's split in 2008, Yazoo reformed in 2008 for a series of live dates.

In 1983, Clarke joined Eric Radcliffe. They wanted to collaborate with various artists on each new single under the name The Assembly. The Undertones lead vocalist Feargal Sharkey received their top-five UK hit "Never Never" by singer Feargal Sharkey. Clarke, on the other hand, co-founded Reset Records with Radcliffe. He released four singles, "The Face of Dorian Gray," "I Just Want to Dance," "Claudette," and "Calling All Destroyers" for his friend Robert Marlow, which were not released on this label between 1983 and 1984. They also made an album, but it was only released in 1999 under the name The Peter Pan Effect. Vince Clarke & Paul Quinn's 1985 collaboration with Paul Quinn of Bourgie Bourgie was another success; the result was the single "One Day" by Vince Clarke and Paul Quinn. However, the initiative didn't succeed, and Clarke moved on to other ventures.

Clarke placed an advert for a singer in early 1985, and Andy Bell, a fan of his earlier projects, was one of his applicants. He collaborated with Bell to form Erasure, and the pair became one of Britain's biggest selling acts with hits such as "Oh L'amour," "Chains of Love," "A Little Respect," and "Drama!" "Blue Savannah," "Chorus," "Love to Hate You," "Take a Chance on Me," and "Always" is the product of "Always."

The pair have recorded 19 studio albums and have had a long line of hit singles dating back to their four decades together as of October 2022.

Clarke and his former Depeche Mode colleague Martin Gore for the first time since 1981, as techno duo VCMG, on an instrumental minimalist dance album called Ssss, which was released on March 12, 2012. On November 30, 2011, the first EP, entitled Spock, was released worldwide exclusively on Beatport. Single Blip, Beatport's second EP, was the first EP to be released exclusively on Beatport on February 20, 2012. Aftermaths, the band's third EP, was released on August 20, 2012.

Clarke, Stephen Luscombe, Pandit Dinesh, and Asha Bhosle joined together in July 1984. West India Company, a division of the West India Company, has released a four-track, self-titled EP.

Clarke & Ware Experiment (also known as The Human League and Heaven 17), as The Clarke & Ware Experiment, 1999. In 2001, the two brothers collaborated on the album Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle, which was made with "3D audio software" specifically developed for listening in headphones. Vince Clarke of Clarke, a Clarke-produced album, released The Peter Pan Effect on his long-time friend Robert Marlow in the same year. Clarke's second album, Road Trip, wrote "Let's Get Together" for the pop girl group Girl Authority. The song was supposed to be for Depeche Mode, but they weren't officially recorded by them. "What Do I Want From You?" Clarke also co-wrote "What Do I Want From You?" Founded in Freeform Five, a group of Stranger Things (2005).

Clarke founded Illustrious Co. Ltd. in 2001, collaborating with fine artists, educational institutions, the performing arts, live performances, corporate clients, and educational institutions around the world, among other things.

Clarke, Robert, produced additional music for an episode of Johnny Bravo titled "The Time of My Life." This was a project with Richard Butler of the Psychedelic Furs.

Clarke was a vital piece of a 2000 project called Family Fantastic. Nice! Wonderful, Family Fantastic's second album, was released in 2008.

Clarke was honoured with the Ivor Novello Awards ceremony on the same day in honor of 30 years in the music industry on May 21, 2009.

Clarke appeared in the BBC Four documentary Synth Britannia.

Clarke worked with the band The Good Natured on a track called "Ghost Train," which is available on their website as a free download in exchange for a tweet.

Clarke also produced a recreation of the Depeche Mode's "Fly on the Windscreen" starring Ane Brune in 2012.

Clarke has appeared in various venues in North America and Europe, as well as continuing his recording work of remixing songs for Dido and Chad Valley.

Clarke revealed on his Twitter page in October 2013 that he was assisting musicians BT and Christian Burns with their All Hail the Silence project.

Clarke revealed "Automatic," a joint effort with Jean-Michel Jarre, on July 14, 2015, on the 16th of October 2015, as a part of the complete album Electronica 1: The Time Machine.

Clarke, a digitally produced the album "2 Square" on his new record label, VeryRecords, on June 10th, 2016.

Clarke has been hosting The Synthesizer Show with VeryRecords artist Reed Hays on Maker Park Radio, a non-profit community radio station from Staten Island, New York, since 2017. The first episode of The First Episode of The 20th Century appeared on December 20, 2017.
