Estrella-Kadlec is a veteran of the Marines who served as a military police officer with the Special Reaction Team. She joined age 19 and spent five years, receiving a bachelor's degree and starting a construction firm while on active service. While in the Marines, she was introduced to professional wrestling by a Staff Sergeant who championed independent shows on the side. The Staff Sergeant, who attended her second show, had her book wrestled him.

Professional wrestling career

Estrella-Kadlec received her training at the American Premier Wrestling training facility in Statesboro, Georgia, under Tom Caiazzo. She made her debut for the organization in 2014 and later won the World Heavyweight Championship.

Estrella-Kadlec signed a WWE contract on April 12, 2016. Macey Estrella made her wrestling debut on October 20, winning by Ember Moon in a show for the first time. Evans was teamed with Sarah Bridges in a tag team match on NXT, three months later, after losing to Billie Kay and Peyton Royce's team. Estrella was given the ring name Lacey Evans, which is coincidently, her sister's maiden name. She was primarily employed as a jobber to numerous rivals. Evans took part in the inaugural Mae Young Classic in July, defeating Taynara Conti in the first round but losing to Toni Storm in the second round.

Evans, a heel, on the women's division's competition on January 17, 2018, she admitted to NXT general manager William Regal for allowing "the lowest forms of societal garbage" such as Nikki Cross, Ember Moon, and Kairi Sane to compete. Evans was tagged in her first rivalry with Sane in April as the two traded victories and threatened each other during the next few weeks. Evans finally lost to Sane on the NXT episode on June 6 to bring an end to their feud. Evans began winning streaks throughout the year, defeating Dakota Kai and Candice LeRae. She appeared in a crucial four-way competition in December to determine the top contender for the NXT Women's Championship, but Bianca Belair won the match.

Evans was proclaimed as one of six NXT wrestlers on the main roster on December 17, 2018. On the night of January 7, 2019, a dark match, she lost to Natalya in a tough match, and she made her official main roster debut at the Royal Rumble on January 27. She started the women's Royal Rumble match at number 1 and lasted more than 29 minutes, destroying The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) before being disqualified by Charlotte Flair. Evans appeared on Raw, SmackDown, and pay-per-views to interrupt various segments and matches by walking out on stage, waving to the audience, and leaving.

Evans was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up and placed in her first feud on the main roster shortly after WrestleMania 35, as she persistently targeted Raw and SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch. On May 19, Evans lost to Lynch via submission in a title match for the Raw Women's Championship. Evans helped Flair win the SmackDown Women's Championship from Lynch a few minutes later, allowing her to take advantage of the situation. Evans fought Lynch and Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship throughout mid-2019. Baron Corbin's pick for a special referee for the WWE Universal Championship match on June 23, at Stomping Grounds, lost again to Lynch, and Baron Corbin was unable to Lynch in the main event, owing to Seth Rollins' dating Lynch. In a Last Chance Extreme Rules match between Lynch and Rollins, Evans and Corbin faced Lynch and Rollins for their respective titles, where they lost the match after Rollins pinned Corbin, effectively ending her rivalry with Lynch.

Evans was introduced to the SmackDown brand in October as part of the 2019 Draft. Crown Jewel, Evans, and Natalya became the first female wrestlers to wrestle in Saudi Arabia, where Evans lost. The two women embraced after, breaking kayfabe to soak their historical time. Evans left Survivor Series on November 24, 2011 for the first time ever, in the NXT women's locker room would also participate in the match. Charlotte Flair (Raw) by pin, after Asuka's team and shot poison mist into Flair's eyes, allowing Evans to profit from the situation and securing her with the Woman's Right. She was initially disqualified by Natalya (Raw) by roll up, but Team NXT won the match when Rhea Ripley pinned Sasha Banks (SmackDown), making her the final woman standing. Evans took exception to Banks and Bayley jingling the SmackDown team, particularly the women, for losing to Team NXT at Survivor Series on November 29. Evans turned face for the first time since early 2017. Evans unsuccessfully challenged Bayley for the SmackDown Women's Title at the Royal Rumble on January 27, 2020.

Evans was involved in a five-way elimination match for the SmackDown Women's Champion on April 5 (taped March 25/26). After being pinned by Bayley due to Banks interference, Evans lost the game. Evans took on Banks in a qualifying match for the Women's Money in the Bank match on April 24. Evans defeated Banks with the Women's Right (while clutching a snapshot of her daughter's hand) and pinning her, she triumphed the game. Evans, who was unsuccessful in the namesake competition on May 10, was defeated by Asuka who went on to win. Evans screamed Naomi after she lost a karaoke match to her, thereby returning to the wrong side once more. Evans was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2020 Draft in October.

Evans began a storyline with Ric Flair when, during a match against Women's Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Asuka, Evans flirted with Flair on January 4, 2021 episode of Raw. Flair managed Evans throughout the weeks, often distracting his daughter Charlotte, who was also participating in the Women's Royal Rumble. Evans' real-life pregnancy was confirmed and integrated into a storyline on that night's episode of Raw, in which Flair is said to be the father. Evans was supposed to face Asuka in the Raw Women's Championship at Elimination Chamber, but the match was cancelled due to her pregnancy; the storyline with Flair was also cancelled as a result. According to reports, she was aiming to win the title at the time.

Evans returned to SmackDown as a face in a vignette chatting about her personal life after over a year of inactivity due to her pregnancy on April 8, 2022. But she was not accepted to Raw as a heel character. She was recalled weeks later to SmackDown again. Evans converted herself into a face character on SmackDown's June 10 episode, defeating Xia Li to qualify for the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match. She was unsuccessful in winning the match at the time. Evans was turning heel as she berated the fans and criticised Aliyah, the fanbase.
