Early life and background

Kunal Ravi Kemmu was born in Srinagar, Jammu, India, on May 25, 1983, as a Kashmiri Pandit family to actor Ravi Kemmu and Jyoti Kemmu. He is the older brother of the couple's children and has a younger sister, Karishma Kemmu. He stayed in Srinagar in the early years and received initial education from Burn Hall School, but after the Insurgency in Kashmir in the 1990s for being a Kashmiri Hindu. His family lived in Mumbai, Maharashtra's Mira Road district later in life. He completed his education at N. L. Dalmia High School in Mira Road and then attended SVKM's Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in Vile Parle for further study. He now lives in Khar, Mumbai.

Moti Lal Kemmu (original spelling of last name) is a Kashmiri playwright and recipient of numerous awards from the government of Jammu and Kashmir: Rashtra Bhasa Prachar Samiti and Padma Shri awards in 1982 for his contributions to Kashmiri literature as a playwright and Padma Shri.

Personal life

Since May 2013, Khemu had been in a squabble with actress Soha Ali Khan Pataudi. In the presence of select members of Soha's Family, the couple got engaged in July 2014 and married in a private ceremony in Mumbai on January 25. Khan's ancestry is connected to the Pataudi family, as he married Inaya Naumi Khemu on September 29, 2017.

Career

Kunal made his debut as a child actor in the Doordarshan TV series Gul Gulshan Gulfaam (1987), directed by Ved Rahi. He made his film debut with Mahesh Bhatt's film Sir (1993). In films including Raja Hindustani, Zakhm, Bhai, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, and Dushman, he continued to perform as a child artist.

In the 2005 film Kalyug, directed by Mohit Suri, he was the male protagonist. Kalyug was founded on the pornography trade. Madhur Bhandarkar's Traffic Signal, his first release in 2007, was Madhur Bhandarkar's Traffic Signal, where he played a street-smart money lender who lends money to homeless families but still draws it back with a sense of urgency.

Kunal returned to film in 2015 with the thriller Bhaag Johnny about a man who will live two lives with the support of a Jinn, portrayed by director Vikram Bhatt. Despite the fact that the film started shooting in 2013, it was announced on September 25th, 2015, with mixed reviews and low box office collections.
