He is best known for his appearances in the films The Hundred Foot Journey (2014) and Viceroy's House (2017).

Early and personal life
Manish Patel was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, to an Indian Gujarati family. Hema and Sudhir Patel's parents are from Gujarat. Neisha Patel, a Columbia University Medical Center cardiovascular neurology fellow, has a sister. Dayal, his grandfather's first name, is used as his stage surname. He attended Marshall Elementary School and later moved to Heathwood Hall in Columbia, South Carolina. He obtained a diploma in International Business from George Washington University. He moved to New York to pursue his acting career in 2005, and five years later he and his wife and two children live in Los Angeles.
Career
Dayal began his career in national advertisements for McDonald's, Windows, Nintendo, and Domino's Pizza. In 2008, he took the lead in The New Group's twice-extended off-Broadway display Rafta, Rafta.... He appeared in The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Paula van der Oest's Domino Effect. Dayal continued to play Hal, a code-breaking computer analyst on the AMC's Rubicon after guest-starring on CSI: Las Vegas on CBS. In New York, Dayal appeared in the romantic comedy Walkaway, which explores passion and culture. In 2010, and 2011, he starred Ravi, the smug A-team chief on Outsourced, a NBC comedy film. In the third and fourth seasons of The CW's 90210, Raj Kher, an alternative college student recovering from cancer, appeared.
In The Hundred Foot Journey (2014), he appeared as Hassan Kadam. He has appeared in the Fox television series The Resident since 2018.
