Early life

Jessica Elizabeth Sanchez was born in Chula Vista, California, on August 4, 1995, to Edita Sanchez (née Bugay), whose family is from Samal, Bataan, and Gilbert Sanchez, a Mexican American who is a First Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy Reserves, and is an aviation ordnanceman First Class Petty Officer. She is the eldest of three children and has two younger siblings. Sanchez was born in Eastlake, Chula Vista.

Sanchez appeared on Aretha Franklin's "Respect" at the Apollo in 2005. In 2006, she appeared on the first season of NBC's Got Talent, in which she became a wildcard contestant but did not qualify for the grand finals. Sanchez appeared on "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the San Diego Chargers' match against the New York Jets during the 2008 NFL season. With independent record label Spin Move Records, she released a cover "Don't Stop the Music" by Rihanna for iTunes in 2009. Sanchez collaborated with the brand on a number of issues with Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind") on YouTube in 2010 and was released as an exclusive download on the label's website.
