She began her music by posting covers on YouTube.

Burns made her debut in 2017 with the single "Ugly," which was featured in a Beats Electronics and Balmain headphone collaboration starring Kylie Jenner.

"Burn Slow" appeared a few months later, serving as the title track for her debut extended play, which was announced in July 2018.

Early life

Burns grew up in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania, but then moved to Los Angeles. She started singing at a young age and learned guitar in her teenage years.

Burns began her career on YouTube, and she planned her first meeting with a major record label in 2015.

Burns unveiled her first single "Ugly" on June 16, 2017. Burns and the song received praise from reviewers, with Mike Wass of Idolator stating that Burns and the album had "serious pop pedigree." Kylie Jenner appeared in a Beats Electronics and Balmain headphone joint venture. On August 11, 2017, she debuted "Burn Slow" as her second single. Burn's debut extended play uses it as the title track. On October 20, 2017, she introduced "High Rollin" on the radio. On March 9, 2018, Burn Slow's second single, "Okokokokok," was released. Burns' fifth single and third from her debut extended play Burn Slow, "Sugarcoat" was released on May 11, 2018. "Low Key In Love," Burn Slow's fourth and final single, was released on June 15, 2018. Burn Slow, her first extended play, was announced on July 27, 2018. Demo Taped's single "Everyone Else" was released on September 14, 2018. Burns performed with Soyeon and Miyeon from (G)I-DLE and Madison Beer as the virtual k-pop girl group K/DA for the single "Pop/Stars."

On January 10, 2019, Burns unveiled the single "Numb" on the radio. She had planned to debut her debut studio album in 2019, but it was not announced. "Goddess," "Tip Back," and "Hard Liquor" were among her singles released in 2019.

In 2020, she reprised her role as Kai'sa in K/DA for their EP All Out, and she appears on the album's title track "More" alongside the original lineup and Chinese singer Lexie Liu.
