Diamond Dallas Page Life

Page Joseph Falkinburg (born Page Joseph Falkinburg, April 5, 1956), better known by his ring name Diamond Dallas Page (DDP), is an American retired professional wrestler who has signed to All Elite Wrestling, as a fitness instructor, motivational speaker, and actor.

Falkinburg first competed for mainstream wrestling titles in the 1990s, when he spent two decades in the American Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).

He continued as a manager until late 1991, when he became a wrestler.

Falkinburg became a three-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, two-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, four-time WCW World Tag Team Champion, and one-time World Television Champion.

He is the fourth WCW Triple Crown Champion and the first United States Heavyweight Champion to defend the title in a pay-per-view main event, defeating Bret Hart at the 1998 World War 3. Falkinburg joined the WWF in 2001, where he made his pay-per-view debut in the main event of July's Invasion show and became a one-time WWF World Tag Team Champion.

In 2002, he decided to terminate his employment with the organization due to a string of injuries.

He was with TNA from 2004 to 2005, competing for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of Destination X 2005. Page will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2017, and Eric Bischoff inducted him into the WWE Hall of Fame on February 20, 2017.

Early life

Page Joseph Falkinburg Jr., the eldest of three children, was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and the son of Sylvia (née Seigel) and Page Falkinburg Sr. During his early years, his dad was raised by his father, who had divorced his parents. He claimed that he is of German, Irish, and Dutch origins. Multiple German villages and at least three German castles have been named Falkinburg/Falkenburg. His nickname "Dallas" came from his love for the Dallas Cowboys.

Rory and Sally's brother were both raised by their maternal grandmother. Falkinburg lived with his father from age three to eight. At eight years old, his father took him to live with his grandmother, who raised him. Falkinburg confessed to being dyslexic in his autobiography. Throughout his childhood and educational years, he had many challenges.

He attended St. Joseph's High School (now Donovan Catholic High School) in Toms River, New Jersey, for his freshman and second years, spending his first season on the JV basketball team and making the varsity squad as a sophomore. He attended Point Pleasant High School in Point Pleasant, where he was a star basketball player with the Point Pleasant Boro High School Panthers. Diamond Dallas Page Career

Professional wrestling career

When Page was working as a wrestling manager in the American Wrestling Association (AWA), he owned Norma Jeans (known for its pink Cadillac). He began assisting Badd Company (Paul Diamond and Pat Tanaka), a group he coached in the AWA World Tag Team Championship on March 19. Female vaping women identified as the "Diamond Dolls" were often accompanying Badd Company (Tonya, Jennifer and Torri). Page was also the AWA's leader, Colonel DeBeers, Curt Hennig, and Madusa Miceli during his time as the Diamond Exchange leader. He appeared on AWA for 12 weeks in a span of nine months, where they shot all of the television shows in one day.

Page served as a color commentator in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), a division that was later renamed Professional Wrestling Federation (PWF), where he served alongside Gordon Solie before making his first appearance as a professional wrestler. The first pro match for Page in May 1989 was against Dick Slater.

Dallas gained a tryout with the WWF as an announcer in 1990, but was not given a job. In his pink Cadillac, he rode Rhythm and Blues (The Honky Tonk Man and Greg Valentine) to the ring. He was almost unknown in the World Wrestling Federation at the time. Page was still involved in the club when FCW went out of business until Dusty Rhodes returned to World Championship Wrestling. Rhodes began booking and brought him on as a part of a small company in early 1991.

Page first appeared on World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1991 as the boss of The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin and Michael P.S.). (Hayes) The Freebirds were given a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Championship on February 24, where they defeated Doom (Butch Reed and Ron Simmons) and Ron Simmons. Page introduced Big Daddy Dink, the stable's new road boss, before the match, who was previously unknown as Oliver Humperdink, who interfered in the match. The Diamond Dolls were unveiled in this match. Page added Scott Hall to the stable under the name of Diamond Studd. With Eric Bischoff, Page served as a color commentator for WCW. With rumors that the WCW wanted to ban the Diamond Studd from Page, he decided to take Magnum T. A.'s advice and begin to wrestle himself. Buddy Lee Parker, The Assassin, and Dusty Rhodes trained the 35-year-old rookie at the WCW Power Plant. He debuted as a wrestler in a tag team match later this year. He met Kevin Sullivan and his partner in the Diamond Studd. He was relegated to the "jobber" list. He made his wrestling pay-per-view debut at Starrcade in 1991, working with Mike Graham in a losing effort to Jushin Thunder Liger and Bill Kazmaier. "Bischoff gave me the job because I was a shining example of work ethics, passion, and someone that cares about the company," he said. Since they didn't really book me, I went down to the WCW Power Plant every day. I wasn't working. That's how you adjust to adversity. And when I first started to make it, I kept going back. I was still going to the Power Plant when I was on the road for more than a year. I went there for five years because that's how long it took me to get to the top."

Page continued wrestling and welcomed new wrestlers into his family, The Diamond Mine, including Scotty Flamingo (Raven) and Vinnie Vegas (Kevin Nash). Throughout the months, DDP, Flamingo, and Vegas were all used in various ways. At Clash of the Champions XXI, Page was standing in the corner of Scotty Flamingo, when Flamingo defeated Johnny B. Badd in a worked boxing match. Flamingo obtained this victory with a little help from Page, who filled Flamingo's glove with water. After Studd and Flamingo left the stable, Page joined Vinnie Vegas as the Vegas Connection in the following year. Page tore a rotator cuff in a match against Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce near the end of 1992 and was eventually dismissed, but Nash left WCW for the World Wrestling Federation.

Page, determined to continue improving his image, sought Jake Roberts, who aided him in understanding the company's psychological aspects. After his recovery, Page and his partner Kimberly as the Diamond Doll and an on-screen bodyguard, Max Muscle, returned to television in 1994, with his wife Kimberly as the Diamond Doll and an on-screen bodyguard. Max never stopped him from winning Kimberly by open arm wrestling, but he still helped him win or arm wrestled for him. He was also involved in an angle in which he was expected to have won $13 million in arm wrestling tournaments but then lost it. He also feuded with Dave Sullivan over Kimberly gifts (mainly because Page was beaten by Sullivan in one of the arm wrestling tournaments, earning him a date with Kimberly). When Page defeated Renegade for the WCW World Television Championship at Fall Brawl, he captured his first championship. Page and Kimberly were growing dissatisfied with their first title defense at Halloween Havoc in the build-up to his first title defense at Halloween Havoc. On November 26, Johnny B. Badd defeated Page for the TV championship and then again at World War 3 on November 26, winning Kimberly's freedom from DDP. Uncensored on March 24, 1996 The Booty Man with Kimberly as The Booty Babe defeated Diamond Dallas Page in a Loser Leaves Town match.

Page appeared on WCW Saturday Night as a tweener defeating Billy Kidman on May 18, 1996. Page was involved in the Lord of the Ring Tournament (Battle Bowl) at Slamboree on May 19, 19th. Falkinburg was victorious after defeating The Barbarian with two Diamond Cutters. The winner was supposed to be the best candidate for the World Championship, which was held by The Giant at the time. He never won the title shot that he obtained that night. When the New World Order (nWo) was introduced, it was feuding with Eddie Guerrero. Nash and Hall were both Page's former employees, and they helped him with their matches in the tournament's contested United States Heavyweight Championship. Hall and Nash assaulted him during the tournament final, allowing Guerrero to win. They asked him to join after demonstrating the nWo's benefits. On January 25, 1997, at Souled Out, he responded by giving them Diamond Cutters, sparking a face turn and a feud with the nWo. Page began a feud with new nWo recruit Randy Savage shortly thereafter. Page and spray-painted "nWo" on his back on an episode of Nitro, Savage, aided by Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Page and Kimberly were, in fact, married a few weeks after (a failed shoot) at Uncensored, Savage, and Miss Elizabeth "broke" (a worked shoot). Savage then went on to defeat Page, ensuring a future match between the two teams. He and Savage sparred in a match where Page came victorious, but not the end of the match between the two teams at Spring Stampede, Page's first pay-per-view main event. They clashed again in an anything goes, lights out match a few months later at The Great American Bash. Savage defeated Page with the assistance of (then) Tag Team Champion Scott Hall, who brought the match to a conclusion. Scott Hall and Randy Savage defeated Diamond Dallas Page and Curt Hennig at the Beach Bash. Curt Hennig, a Diamond Dallas Page recruiter who had been recruited physically to join WCW and team with him, was on DDP during the match. In a grudge match at Road Wild, Hennig defeated Diamond Dallas Page. Page defeated Scott Hall and Randy Savage in a No Disqualification match at Fall Brawl, courtesy of Lex Luger. On the July 7 edition of Monday Nitro, Page even dressed up as masked wrestler La Parka and defeated Savage. Around this time, Page began combating Hollywood Hogan, the nWo's leader. For the final time at Halloween Havoc, Page and Savage clashed. The match was described as a Las Vegas sudden-death game, where Savage, dressed as Sting, came out and hit Page with a baseball bat in his already "injured" midsection, resulting in Savage winning the match. On an episode of Nitro shortly after Halloween Havoc, Page took on Hogan but was eventually defeated by the nWo.

Page took the United States Heavyweight Championship from Curt Hennig in Starrcade. Page defended the name in a Triple Threat, Falls Count Anywhere tournament against Chris Benoit and Raven, bringing Raven through a table with a Diamond Cutter to hold the belt. At the Spring Stampede, the page was lost to Raven. At the Beach Bash earlier this year, Page tagged Karl Malone against Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman, but the beach was not able to recover due to interference. At Road Wild, where they defeated Hogan and Eric Bischoff, the show host was tagged with late night talk show host Jay Leno.

Page took the WarGames main event at Fall Brawl, and took a World championship shot at Hammerhead's undefeated Goldberg at Halloween Havoc. Page did not win the contest, but the match was named "Match of the Year" by WCW Magazine in 1998. Halloween Havoc lasted marginally longer than expected, with a number of cable companies getting blacket out the Hogan versus Warrior match and the entire DDP versus Goldberg competition. On the October 26 episode of Nitro, the Goldberg versus DDP title contest was in its entirety, resulting in a ratings win for Nitro over Raw, the last victory Nitro ever saw. Despite the setback in the World championship picture, Page recovered on the same night of Halloween Havoc on the Oct. 26 episode of Nitro with a victory over Bret Hart to win the United States Heavyweight Championship. The two made headlines during the World War 3 tournament in which Page won a trophies. On the November 30 episode of Nitro in a No Disqualification match, Page lost the title to Hart.

When Page defeated Sting, Hogan, and Ric Flair for the title in a Four Way Dance with "Macho Man" Randy Savage as Special Guest Referee, he became the WCW World Heavyweight Champion in April 1999, at Spring Stampede. Since giving Flair the Diamond Cutter, Page pinned Flair. Some fans were already booing Page at various WCW functions, so right after the Spring Stampede, a decision was made to turn Page heel for the first time in three years. The page came out slowly at first, with Page undergoing a change in attitude. Page defended his title against Goldberg, first knocking Goldberg out with brass knuckles and then propping his leg against the ring stairs and repeatedly hitting it with a steel chair, despite the fans' continued cries for "boo me now." Page was only stopped when Kevin Nash, a Hogan ally who was ill at Page for (kayfabe) injuring Hogan's knee during the match at Spring Stampede, returned from injury and chased him away.

Page lost and recovered his status in a matter of two hours on April 26, 1999. In the first hour of that night's Nitro, Sting challenged him to defend his crown and defeated him to regain the trophy he had lost a year ago. This brought Page's tenure to an end, but he had a chance to regain the title ninety minutes later. Nash took the ring to face defending champion Sting and Goldberg in a four-way match for the title. Page won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship by using a foreign object to strike Nash and regain the title without actually defeating the reigning champion. Nash was the top-two candidate immediately after and vowed to get revenge on Page for his friend Hogan, leading to a match in Slamboree in May. When Savage intervened and struck Nash, Page originally stayed the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, but Eric Bischoff and Nash pinned Page to win the title after a powerbomb. Page was taken out of the title picture shortly thereafter.

Page broke down in a few days after Slamboree, joined Bam Bam Bigelow in the WCW World Tag Team Championship from then champions Perry Saturn and Raven on May 31, owing to Chris Kanyon's decision to abandon former ally Raven and costing the team the championships. Bigelow, Bigelow, and Kanyon became the Jersey Triad, and the WCW's "President for Life" Ric Flair exploited the Freebird Rule in their subsequent matches (meaning any combination of the three three members could defend the championship). The Triad held the titles until June 10, when Saturn and Chris Benoit (now stablemates in The Revolution) took their titles. They regained control at The Great American Bash three days later, but they lost them at Road Wild in August to Harlem Heat. Chris Benoit defeated Diamond Dallas Page to keep the United States' title later that night. Page dissolved shortly thereafter and Hogan began feuding with Hogan, including Sid Vicious and Rick Steiner, who joined Sid Vicious and Rick Steiner in a team effort to face Hogan, Sting, and Goldberg. Page became a hero again and feuded with both Kanyon and Bigelow shortly after the year came to an end.

Page earned a shot at the vacant WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Jartt in 2000, under new WCW's direction. Kimberly, Page's wife, became the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion, bringing Jartt back to Page. Page got the best of Jarrett on a steel cage match to become WCW World Heavyweight Champion for the third time; he lost the title to his tag partner, actor David Arquette, three days later on Thunder; and Jarrett pinned Jarrett to win the tournament. In a triple cage match against Arquette and Jartt later this month, Page attempted to regain the title but lost after Arquette struck him with a guitar. After Kanyon turned on Page, Page 19 took a feud with Mike Awesome, who beat him in an Ambulance Match at The Great American Bash.

After this, Page took a few months off work, but he returned in late 2000 as a full-time wrestler. After Page came back, he formed The Insiders, a tag team with Kevin Nash, and the team captured the WCW World Tag Team Championship in Mayhem by defeating Perfect Event (Shawn Stasiak and Chuck Palumbo). The team was temporarily barred from the competition, but they regained them at Starrcade after beating Stasiak and Palumbo once more. Page and Nash lost their titles to Palumbo and Sean O'Haire at Sin in January and then broke up shortly thereafter. Page briefly feuded with the returning Kanyon, which culminated in Kanyon's resurrectance, as well as Page's tumultuous encounter with Kanyon, which culminated in their feud with Kanyon, who saw them overthrowrowning Page on Nitro. After meeting Scott Steiner, Page moved into the World Championship picture. Page's last match in WCW saw them lose and a semi-burial type defeat as he came out in Steiner's finisher, The Steiner Recliner, at a climax.

When WWF founder Vince McMahon bought WCW in 2001, he was one of the few major WCW stars (along with Booker T and Buff Bagwell) who understood buyouts of their AOL Time Warner contracts in order to start signing with McMahon. He made his Wrestling Federation (WWF) debut on June 18, 2001, on the episode of Raw, when he unveiled himself as the stalker of Sara, The Undertaker's wife. Page revealed that he didn't care about Sara; he only did it to make an impression and wanted to take on the "biggest dog in the yard." He defeated The Undertaker in an unsanctioned brawl that was never announced as an official match at King of the Ring. Page took the title against WCW Champion Booker T, but he was unable to win the title due to a withdrawal from the Undertaker. Former WCW and ECW alumni banded together in an attempt to take over the WWF on the podcast. Shane McMahon, WCW's owner, and ECW's Paul Heyman appeared on July 9 to form The Alliance, with former WCW and ECW alumni banding together in an attempt to take over the WWF. Page, at the Invasion pay-per-view, joined Team Alliance alongside Booker T. Rhyno and The Dudley Boyz, defeating Team WWF after Team WWF member Stone Cold Steve Austin urged on his team members mid-match.

Kanyon and Chris Kanyon were reunited on the backstage of Raw on August 6, when Kanyon helped Page undermine The Undertaker backstage. SmackDown!, Page and Kanyon defeated the APA in the WWF Tag Team Championship three days later on August 9 taping.

In a Steel cage match for the WWF Tag Team Championship, his feud with the Undertaker came to an end when Undertaker and Kane defeated Page and Kanyon at SummerSlam on August 19, 2001. Page was hurt during the match, keeping him out of action until late October 2001. Although Page was wounded, he invented a new gimmick in which he became a motivational speaker. With the expression "That's not a bad thing," Page continued to be optimistic and hopeful, he's made him smile and act hopeful. "That's not a bad thing..."

On November 3, the Rebellion defeated the Big Show in a televised match, marking his return to the Rebellion. The Alliance lost during the Survivor Series, but Page and the majority of the Alliance members, as well as the rest of the Alliance members, went to work.

Page was eventually back as a face and gained his career back after defeating Big Boss Man on January 17, 2002, episode of SmackDown! On January 20, Page competed in the Royal Rumble match at the titular event, but did not win.

On January 31, 2002, page became the WWF European Champion after defeating Christian, a former promoter of his optimistic "philosophy." Page was able to win in a rematch against Christian at WrestleMania X8. On an episode of SmackDown, he lost the title to William Regal. That aired on March 21, 2004. Page was drafted to the SmackDown on March 25, according to Page. As part of the 2002 WWF draft lottery, the brand was developed.

He sustained a serious neck injury during a match against Hardcore Holly after botching a superplex on episode 18 of SmackDown! After collecting reports from a number of doctors, Page announced his resignation in June 2002. He left the company shortly after.

Page made his in-ring return by fighting for many independent promotions in 2004. His first match was held on April 21, 2004, with Satoshi Kojima as they lost to former WCW star Sting and The Great Muta in HCW Battle Hawaii.

He partnered with Total Nonstop Wrestling (TNA). He debuted on Impact!, the company's new television show that began a feud between the two teams. DDP defeated Raven on December 5 at Turning Point. Page took home the top contender for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in January 2005, which was also won by Brown in a three-way elimination match. A tag team was formed by Page and Brown shortly. Team Canada defeated Team Canada in the following month at Against All Odds, Page and Brown, (Bobby Roode and Eric Young). On March 13, Page received a NWA World Heavyweight Championship title shot at Destination X, but Brown was defeated by reigning champion Jeff Jarrett when Brown turned heel and struck Page with the Pounce. Page and B.G. were teamed at Lockdown. In a Lethal Lockdown match, James and Waltman will defeat Jeff Jartt, Monty Brown, and The Outlaw. On May 15, Page and Ron Killings met Monty Brown and The Outlaw, where they were defeated in what was Page's last match in TNA. Page left TNA shortly after to pursue an acting career.

Page returned to the independent circuit after TNA. At WrestleReunion, Larry Zbyszko defeated him. During the game, DDP had Bruno Sammartino in his corner. On December 9, 2005, then Page defeated Buff Bagwell at GLCW Blizzard Brawl. Page retired twice before retiring again in 2006 after defeating his former Jersey Triad partner Chris Kanyon twice.

Diamond Dallas Page made a special appearance at Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) in August 9, 2009, teaming himself with the jWo. On Trent Acid, he made his iconic Diamond Cutter finisher.

At a PICW tournament on January 2, 2010, DDP returned to wrestling, teaming with Air Paris to defeat Bobby Hayes and Alexander the Great. At AWE Night Of The Legends, DDP teamed with Kevin Nash on October 15, 2011 to defeat The Rock 'n' Roll Express.

After being approached for the role due to his links to WCW, Page decided to work on the Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro in late 2010. The DVD, which was released on June 7, 2011, was sold on Page 711. Page appeared on Raw's June 27 episode promoting this DVD with Booker T.

Page appeared on WWE Classics on Demand in the Legends of Wrestling Roundtable's 2012 version: Renegades, Jim Ross, Michael P.S. Hayes, Roddy Piper, and Gene Okerlund were among the many individuals to have performed. At the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony on March 31, 2012, Page was also pictured with Kevin Nash and X-Pac. Page made a Diamond Cutter on Heath Slater on July 2, 2012. During Slater's match with Lita, he appeared at Raw 1000, flanked by other WWE Legends.

On the January 6, 2014 episode of Raw, Page, along with a few other celebrities, the show's "Old School" theme was included on the program. Page inducted his wrestling mentor and noted DDP Yoga specialist Jake Roberts into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5, 2019.

Page was a surprise entrant in the Rumble match on January 25, 2015, after being suspended by Rusev on Stardust, Bray Wyatt, and Fandango from the top rope. Page was involved in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, but Konnor was disqualified by Konnor.

In Orlando, Florida, Page was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31, 2017.

Both In on September 1, 2018, Page accompanied Cody Rhodes in his match against NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis.

Page led Brandi Rhodes away from the ring after she refused to leave the match between Cody Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes after match referee Earl Hebner ejected her from the match on May 25, 2019. Page returned to TNT television for the first time in over 18 years and assisted Cody in a forensic confrontation of Chris Jericho and his stable The Inner Circle on October 23, 2019. Page returned to Dynamite on November 27, 2019 to award MJF with the first ever Dynamite Diamond Ring as a reward for defeating Adam Page. Page's last match, along with Dustin Rhodes and Q. T. Marshall, was a losing proposition.
