Lenglet started his career with Nancy, appearing 85 times since his debut in 2013 and winning the Ligue 2 championship in the 2015–16 season. Club career

Lenglet, who was born in Beauvais, Oise, made his Ligue 2 debut against Nancy on September 27, 2013 in a goalless home draw against AC Arles-Avignon, who took the field after 32 minutes.

Nancy took the second-division title with 34 appearances over the 2015–16 season. In a 3–1 home win over Clermont on January 29, he scored his first goal for the team in 2016. In a 2–2 draw at Auxerre on Tuesday, he was suspended for conceding a foul on Serhou Guirassy. He kicked Benoît Pedretti's corner kick for the only goal of a victory over Sochaux at the Stade Marcel Picot on April 25, gaining his team's promotion to Ligue 1 after a three-year absence.

He made 18 debuts in Ligue 1 for Nancy in the first half of the 2016–17 season.

Lenglet migrated to Spain on January 4th, 2017, signing a La Liga contract with Sevilla until 2021. Nancy was charged €5 million for the transfer fee. He was brought on to replace compatriot Timothée Kolodziejczak, who had joined Borussia Mönchengladbach.

In the last 16 of the 2016–17 Copa del Rey (6–3 aggregate loss), he made his Andalusians debut in a 3–3 home draw with Real Madrid. In a 2–1 victory over the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on January 15, he made his league debut against the same opponents, capping their 40-match streak in all competitions. In the second half of the season, he appeared in 17 of their league games.

Lenglet scored his first goal for Sevilla on August 19, 2017 in the first game of the new season, whether or not it crossed the line became a point of contention after the game. On November 1st, he scored his first goal in European action, leading Éver Banega's cross to a 2–1 home victory over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Champions League group stage. ESPN put Lenglet into their Champions League Best XI after being part of the Sevilla side that kept a clean sheet against Manchester United in the first leg round.

Lenglet joined Barcelona on July 12, 2018 when they triggered his release clause of €35 million. In the 2018 Supercopa de Espaa, he played the full 90 minutes for Barcelona, as he helped them beat their former club Sevilla 2–1 defeat. Following an elbow injury against Pere Pons on September 23, Lenglet was dismissed in his La Liga debut against Girona. In their Copa del Rey match against Cultural Leonesa in 1–0 victory, he scored the winning goal. At the Camp Nou, he scored his first goal for Barcelona in La Liga against Real Sociedad. In a 3–0 win over Eibar away at the Ipurua on October 19, he gave Barcelona's first goal. In a 3–1 win over Napoli in Barcelona's round of 16 second leg matches, Lenglet scored his first Champions League goal for the club on August 8, 2020, with a 10th minute header.

Tottenham Hotspur announced on July 8th that Lenglet had joined the club on a season long loan.

International career

Lenglet was called up to the French senior team by Didier Deschamps on May 21 for a friendly match against Bolivia and two UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying games against Andorra and Turkey, both of which will be held in the first half of June 2019. He made his debut in the 4–0 away victory over Andorra on June 11th and scored his first goal in the 3–0 triumph in the reverse fixture on September 10th.

Lenglet was selected for the Euro 2020 finals. Due to injuries for left-backs Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Digne, Deschamps pulled him in for the last 16 matches against Switzerland in order to play an untested 3–5–2 formation. After a 3–3 draw, France unexpectedly lost on penalties, with Lenglet heavily blamed for the first goal, in which Haris Seferovic beat him to a header. Kingsley Coman replaced him at halftime.
