Personal life
Choi has been in a relationship with actress Park Shin-hye since late 2017.
Park is pregnant, and both of them are planning to marry on November 23, 2021. In the presence of acquaintances and relatives in a church service in Seoul, they married on January 22, 2022, 2022. Park gave birth to a son on May 31, 2022.

Career
Choi made his acting debut as a child actor in the television series Piano (2001).
Choi gained success for his support in the adaptation of fantasy drama Padam Padam (2011), a 20-year-old high school bully based on Webtoon's Adolescence Medley (2013), a villain in the disaster film Missing 9 (2017), and a lawyer in romance comedy Suspicious Partner (2017). Choi appeared in Eclipse (2016) as the lead.
Choi was cast member of We Got Married in 2016, teaming with Apink's Yoon Bo-mi. After being a visitor two weeks in a row in August 2016, Choi became a permanent host on the Korean variety show Hello Counselor in September.
Choi appeared in his first lead role on national television in the 2-episode drama Exit, which was released on television in 2018. He was then cast as the male lead in So I Married the Anti-fan, which was based on the webtoon of the same name.
