Career
Kim appeared on Mnet's Superstar K3, a survival audition competition for singers. He appeared at the preliminary regional audition in Daegu, but he didn't make it to the group of 11 contestants that actually participated in the competition. Kim appeared in tvN's music youth series Flower Band's debut as an innovative keyboardist shortly after.
He rose to fame thanks to his role in the pan-Asia hit drama Descendants of the Sun. He appeared in SBS' medical drama The Doctors and received the Best New Actor award at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards in the same year.
Kim appeared in SBS' legal drama Innocent Defendant, JTBC's coming-of-age drama Hello, My Twenties!
