Bray Wyatt Life

Windham Lawrence Rotunda (born May 23, 1987) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, appearing on the SmackDown brand under the banner name "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt, where he is the current Universal Champion in his first appearance. Rotunda is a third-generation professional wrestler following in the footsteps of his grandfather Blackjack Mulligan, his uncle Mike Rotunda, and two of his uncles, Barry and Kendall Windham.

Taylor Rotunda, his younger brother, also appears in WWE under the ring name Bo Dallas.

He wrestled under various ring names between 2009 and 2012. He, alongside his brother, appeared in the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship twice while wrestling in WWE's youth division, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), where he competed under various ring names from 2009 to 2012.

From 2010 to 2011, he appeared on WWE's main roster, most prominently as a member of The Nexus. Rotunda was rebranded as Bray Wyatt, the Wyatt family's villainous cult leader, after returning to WWE's developmental territories in mid-2011, with the group eventually debuting as Bray Wyatt, the group's villainous cult leader, with the group's main roster debut in 2013.

Wyatt won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship (under Freebird rule with Randy Orton and Luke Harper) once, the WWE Championship twice, and the Raw Tag Team Championship (with Matt Hardy) once.

Wyatt returned to WWE action in April 2019 with the addition of a new gimmick of a children's entertainer, hosting Firefly Fun House and simultaneously debuting a sinister alter ego named "The Fiend."

He became a world champion in late 2019 after his Fiend character's debut in rings.

Early life

Windham Lawrence Rotunda was born in Brooksville, Florida, on May 23, 1987. He attended Hernando High School, where he won a state wrestling championship at 275 pounds (125 kg) in 2005. In 2005, he graduated from the University of On the other hand, he earned his degree. He has also played as a defensive tackle and guard in football. Rotunda was a member of the College of the Sequoias for two seasons, winning second-team All-American honors as a sophomore offensive guard. He earned a football scholarship to Troy University, where he spent two years playing collegiate football. After choosing to be a professional wrestler, Troy 27 credits short of receiving a bachelor's degree.

Personal life

In 2012, Rotunda married Samantha, with whom he has two children. JoJo Offerman, a WWE Ring announcer, filed for divorce in 2017, claiming she had been having an affair with her WWE ring announcer JoJo Offerman. Samantha had made "defamatory statements" about him in order to damage his image, according to him, who applied for an injunction. During the divorce hearings, she requested that he pay her $15,000 per month in spousal and child care. They were eventually coerced into mediation at a family's Tampa, Florida, practice. Rotunda and Offerman were later discovered to be together, with two children, a son named Knash (born May 18, 2019), whose godfather is wrestler Braun Strowman, and a daughter named Hyrie (born May 28, 2020). Bray Wyatt Career

Professional wrestling career

He made his in-ring debut in a dark match on February 5, 2009 of Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), defeating Brian Jossie. Rotunda made his television debut in April 2009 using the name Alex Rotundo. He later changed his name to Duke Rotundo. He and his brother Bo. were first involved in June 2009. On July 23, the Rotundo Brothers defeated The Dude Busters (Caylen Croft and Trent Barretta) to become the top one contenders for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship, beating them on July 23. They defeated Justin Angel and Kris Logan for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship on the same night. They continued to win the championship against Dylan Klein and Vance Archer, as well as Curt Hawkins and Heath Slater's team. On November 19, the Rotundo Brothers lost the championship to The Dude Busters, who were on TV.

He joined NXT under the name Husky Harris, along with Cody Rhodes as his WWE Pro on June 2, 2010. Harris appeared on a television show the following week, on June 8 episode of NXT, competing against Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) and Percy Watson, who lost. Harris turned heel on the NXT episode on June 22 by criticizing announcer Matt Striker, as Rhodes had done the previous week. Harris lost to MVP in a singles match in the first week of the eight rookies in the first poll this week. Harris climbed to sixth position in the second poll, barely avoiding elimination. The rookies appeared in a six-man tag team match on Raw on August 9, which Harris' team won when he pinned Kaval, but his team lost the match the next night on NXT. Harris climbed to fourth place out of the six rookies in the poll later that night. Harris was one of two rookies to be disqualified from NXT on August 17 and Rhodes and Rhodes assaulted Kaval, sparking a brawl involving MVP and Kofi Kingston. Harris appeared in the season finale of NXT with the other injured rookies and joined in the fight against Kaval, the NXT champion.

Rotunda continued wrestling in FCW while keeping the Husky Harris ring name in mind, although not on NXT. Following his release from NXT in September 2010, Harris began a feud in FCW with Percy Watson when he attacked Watson while working with him in a tag team match, resulting in Watson being suspended for the loss. Both Harris and Watson were ruled out as they brawled out of the arena, resulting in a no disqualification match that Harris lost. Harris defeated Watson in a lumberjack contest in October, bringing the feud to an end.

A disguised Harris and Michael McGillicutty appeared in a match between John Cena and Wade Barrett and helped Barrett win, causing Cena to join Barrett's faction The Nexus pursuant to the pre-match stipulation. The identities of Harris and McGillicutty were revealed on the following day's episode of Raw, although Barrett said he had not asked for their assistance and refused to make them full-time members of The Nexus. Raw, Harris, and McGillicutty cost Cena a match against The Miz last week, causing Barrett to give them the opportunity to win membership in the Nexus. When Raw, Harris and McGillicutty lost to Cena and Randy Orton in a tag team match on October 18, they did not gain a spot in The Nexus. Despite their loss, Harris and McGillicutty were accepted into The Nexus on Raw the following week.

In January 2011, CM Punk took over The Nexus and demanded that each of its members be enrolled in an initiation process. Harris was accepted as a member of The New Nexus alongside Punk, McGillicutty, and David Otunga after his inception, which was a slash from the rest of the group. Later, Orton attacked Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov for the WWE Tag Team Championship, threatening them as part of his rivalry with the Nexus and punched Harris in the head, which was used to write Harris off television.

Rotunda returned to FCW and added the gimmick of the hockey mask-wearing Axl Mulligan in March 2011, but Rotunda continued to play the Husky Harris character on FCW television, while Rotunda continued to play the Husky Harris character on FCW television. Harris became embroiled in his brother Bo's (then FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion) feud with Lucky Cannon and Damien Sandow in August 2011. In a tag team match, the two brothers later teamed up to defeat Cannon and Sandow. Harris expressed his displeasure with Bo's friendship with Aksana, and after Bo suffered a legitimate injury, he was disqualified and a tournament was held to select the new champion, which Harris defeated then and he lost after Richie Steamboat (who was on ringside to shoot for Ambrose) fired him on Harris. Despite Aksana's efforts to get Steamboat to harm Harris once more, the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship went against Ambrose and Sandow, which Harris lost after being distracted by the steamboat's meddling once more. As a result, Harris and Steamboat began feuding, with their first match ending in a no contest. Kruger later defeated the two guys in a triple threat match to keep the trophy. Harris, on the other hand, defeated Steamboat in a No Holds Barred match. Since the two women continued to assault each other, they were banned for 30 days. Harris defeated Steamboat in a bullrope match on their return to put an end to their feud. Harris and Bo Rotundo won the vacant FCW Florida Tag Team Championship for the second time on February 2, 2012. They won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship against Antonio Cesaro and Alexander Rusev, but Corey Graves and Jake Carter defeated them on March 15.

Rotunda introduced Bray Wyatt, a new repackaged character who first identified himself with Eli Cottonwood in FCW in April 2012. Bray Wyatt debuted on the newly branded NXT taped at Full Sail University on July 11, 2012, defeating Aiden English. Wyatt sustained a torn pectoral muscle in July and needed surgery. Despite the injury, Wyatt kept appearing on NXT, founding The Wyatt Family in November, with Luke Harper as his first "son" and Erick Rowan as his second. On the February 21, 2013 episode of NXT, where he defeated Yoshi Tatsu, Wyatt's first match back from injury. On the NXT to Bo Dallas episode on March 13, Wyatt lost his first time. Wyatt was defeated by Chris Jericho on the May 2 episode of NXT. Harper and Rowan defeated Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey to win the NXT Tag Team Championship on May 8, which was shown on NXT's May 8 episode. On the May 22 episode of NXT, the Wyatt Family began a feud with Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno, with Wyatt defeating Graves. After an 18-man war royal to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship, Wyatt defeated both Graves and Ohno. The Wyatt Family defeated Graves, Neville, and Ohno on the NXT showdown on June 19th. The Wyatt Family defeated Graves, Neville, and William Regal in a six-man tag team match on July 10 of NXT. Harper and Rowan lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to Neville and Graves on July 17 (which was taped on June 20).

WWE aired vignettes promoting the upcoming debut of The Wyatt Family on May 27. The vignettes displayed The Wyatt Family's roots and Rowan wearing a lamb mask. The Wyatt Family made their debut on Raw's July 8 episode by attacking Kane. The Wyatt Family continued to attack wrestlers including R-Truth, Justin Gabriel, Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, and Jinder Mahal, while sending cryptic messages to Kane urging him to "follow the buzzards." Kane faced Wyatt to his first main roster match, a Ring of Fire match at SummerSlam on August 18, 2013, which Wyatt won after interference from Harper and Rowan. Harper and Rowan attacked Kane again after the match, dragging him away. Wyatt's next target was Kofi Kingston, who was defeated at Battleground on October 6.

In late October, the Wyatt family began feuding with CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, culminating in Punk and Bryan defeating Harper and Rowan at Survivor Series on November 24. In a handicap match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 15, the Wyatt Family continued their feud with Bryan as Wyatt tried to recruit Bryan, and the Wyatt Family defeated Bryan. Bryan defeated Harper and Rowan in a gauntlet match so that he could meet Wyatt, where Harper and Rowan intervened for a disqualification and assaulted him until a tumultuous Bryan joined The Wyatt family. The Wyatt family was struggling after Bryan joined them, and they could not find success. This prompted Wyatt to discipline Bryan, resulting in Bryan chastising all the other Wyatt Family members in the wake of his resignation from the group on January 13. Wyatt defeated Bryan at the Royal Rumble on January 26, beating him 1-0. The Wyatt Family spent John Cena's WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Randy Orton later that night, with The Wyatt Family attacking Cena shortly after the match.

The Wyatt Family attacked Bryan, Cena, and Sheamus during an Elimination Chamber qualifier against The Shield on January 27, meaning Bryan's team was disqualified and The Shield was out of contention for the Elimination Chamber match. At the February 23, the Wyatt Family won a six-man tag match, rather than The Shield and The Wyatt Family. They later interfered in the Elimination Chamber match, resulting in Cena's disqualification.

Wyatt and Cena clashed in the Elimination Chamber, with Wyatt arguing that Cena's heroic behavior was a mask of "this period of lies" as well as the effort to turn Cena into a "monster." Wyatt continued to accept Cena's match as a WrestleMania match, with Cena battling Harper and Rowan's resistance to defeat Wyatt at WrestleMania XXX, marking Wyatt's first pinfall loss on WWE's main roster. After WrestleMania XXX's news that Wyatt was capturening Cena's fanbase, the children fought back to the ring on April 28 on Raw, with the boys later wearing sheep masks. Wyatt defeated Cena in a steel cage match at Extreme Rules on May 4, after the remainder of The Wyatt Family and a "demonic" child interfered. Cena's feud with Wyatt continued on June 1st with a Last Man Standing match being planned for Payback, where Cena defeated Wyatt under various equipment issues to win the game and put an end to the feud. Wyatt defeated Dean Ambrose in the Bank ladder match for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which Cena defeated on June 13.

The Wyatt family assaulted a returning Chris Jericho on Raw the night before. On July 20, where Jericho triumphed, and at SummerSlam on August 17, where Wyatt defeated Rowan in a rematch where Harper and Rowan were barred from ringside, resulted. On the September 8 episode of Raw, Wyatt won a steel cage match by breaking the cage.

Beginning on September 29, vignettes of Wyatt were shown of him "setting Harper and Rowan free." During the main event match between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, Wyatt returned alone in a Cell on October 26, costing Ambrose the match. Wyatt taunted Ambrose for weeks, promising to "fix" him like he had with Harper and Rowan. Wyatt defeated Ambrose by disqualification after Ambrose used a steel chair to assault Wyatt on November 23 at Survivor Series. Wyatt defeated Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders, Chairs match in the main event at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 14, the first and only match in the primary event. On December 22, Wyatt defeated Ambrose on a Miracle on 34th Street Fight, defeating him once more. On January 5, 2015, the feud culminated in an ambulance match, which Wyatt would effectively end their feud.

Wyatt was in the Royal Rumble match on January 25, defeating six other contestants and then being disqualified by Big Show and Kane. Following the Royal Rumble, Wyatt began a series of cryptic promos, referring to himself as "The New Face of Fear"; Wyatt emerged from a casket and challenged The Undertaker for a match at WrestleMania 31 on March 29, which Undertaker accepted; but Wyatt was dissatisfied with the Undertaker.

Following WrestleMania 31, Wyatt unleashed another series of enigmatic promos, which were supposed to be aimed to Ryback on Raw's April 27 episode after Wyatt sluggishly confronted Bo Dallas. Wyatt hit Ryback after his match on the following episode of SmackDown. Payback defeated Wyatt in the following match.

Wyatt interfered in the Money in the Bank ladder match on June 14 and assaulted Roman Reigns (who had defeated him in a qualifying match on Raw) as Reigns was close to obtaining the briefcase. This resulted in a match between Wyatt Family and Reigns on July 19, where Wyatt defeated Reigns with the help of former Wyatt Family member Luke Harper, who was wounded at the time but recovered later). Wyatt and Harper lost to Reigns and Ambrose at SummerSlam on August 23, according to their. Braun Strowman, a new Wyatt Family member who fought both Ambrose and Reigns, was introduced to Raw, Wyatt. The Wyatt Family defeated Reigns, Ambrose, and Jericho in a six-man tag team match on Night of Champions on September 20, 2016 a night of Champions. On October 25, Wyatt was defeated by Reigns in a Cell match to end their feud, but the Wyatt family revived the feud. Former rival Kane, who was assaulted by the Wyatts and then carried backstage, confronted Wyatt on Raw, Wyatt. The Brothers of Destruction appeared on Raw's November 9 episode and taunted The Wyatt Family. On November 22, Wyatt and Harper lost to The Brothers of Destruction on The Survivor Series.

Tables, Ladders & Chairs of TLC on December 13, the Wyatt Family defeated Team ECW in an eight-man tag team elimination tables match. On March 12, Wyatt was supposed to face Brock Lesnar (whom The Wyatt Family was ruled out of the 2016 Royal Rumble match) at Roadblock, but Lesnar was reportedly accompanied by Luke Harper; Lesnar won the handicap match. The Wyatt family confronted The Rock, who beat Rowan in a six-second match at WrestleMania 32; the Wyatts were fended off by John Cena and The Rock.

The Wyatt Family blasted The League of Nations on April 4 on Raw, sparking an unexplained feud between the two tyrant groups that is evidently showing signs of a face change. Wyatt sustained an injury to his right calf during a live event in Italy on April 13 and was kicked off WWE's European tour. The Wyatt Family's rivalry with The League of Nations ended due to his injury. On the 20th episode of Raw, the Wyatt Family resurfaced, bringing the team back to heel. The New Day confronted The Wyatt Family at their home later in the week before the Wyatts defeated them at Battleground on July 24 in a six-man tag team match. Wyatt and Rowan were added to the SmackDown brand in the 2016 WWE draft, while Strowman was sent to the Raw brand.

Wyatt walked away from Rowan after losing his match against Dean Ambrose, leaving Rowan's sheep mask on Wyatt's rocking chair on August 16's episode of SmackDown. On the SmackDown episode on August 30, Wyatt confronted Randy Orton, who he described as "damaged" and challenged him to a match at Backlash, which Orton accepted. Wyatt faced Orton before the match, winning by forfeit. Wyatt then met Kane in a No Holds Barred match, but he lost when Orton interfered. On October 9, Orton met Wyatt in another match at No Mercy, which he accepted and won with the assistance of the returning Harper. Orton fought on Wyatt's behalf in his match against Kane and became The Wyatt Family on October 25, a fan of The Wyatt Family.

Wyatt and Orton were the only survivors for Team SmackDown in the traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series elimination match after Orton saved Wyatt from a spear from Roman Reigns. The pair then started focusing on stopping the momentum of American Alpha and, in a larger sense, capturing the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, defeating them in a battle to become the top-ranked contenders. The Ladders & Chairs won the championship from Heath Slater and Rhyno on December 4, marking Wyatt's first title victory in WWE. On the December 6 episode of SmackDown, Wyatt and Orton retained the SmackDown Tag Team Championship against the former champions, but Orton and Luke Harper (who defended the Freebird Constitution) lost the title to American Alpha in a four corners elimination tag team match. Harper and Orton, who met together on the January 24, 2017 episode of SmackDown, which Orton won, resulting in Wyatt's dismissal of Sister Abigail to Harper, effectively banishing him from the party. Wyatt and Orton were both the 21st participant in the Royal Rumble match and the final three on January 29, but Wyatt and Orton fought against Roman Reigns, who eventually killed Wyatt, who later ruled out Orton, who later defeated the match and a championship match at WrestleMania.

Wyatt captured the WWE Championship by defeating John Cena, AJ Styles, The Miz, Dean Ambrose, and Baron Corbin in an Elimination Chamber match; it was the first singles title in Wyatt's wrestling career and his first world title of his career. Orton threatened Wyatt in a triple threat match involving John Cena and AJ Styles, but not on the following SmackDown, but after Wyatt successfully defended the WWE Championship in a triple threat match involving John Cena and AJ Styles, Orton pledged allegiance to Wyatt and refused to face him in WrestleMania 33, he speculated. However, Orton swore it was a ruse as Orton demolished The Wyatt Family house, including Sister Abigail's grave, two weeks later, and defeated Wyatt for the title at WrestleMania 33, bringing an end to Wyatt's reign at 49 days. Wyatt was transferred to the Raw brand as part of the Superstar Shake-Up campaign on April 10, and his title rematch against Payback, billed as a House of Horrors match, was turned into a non-title match; Wyatt defeated Orton after being aided by Jinder Mahal.

Wyatt failed to become the top contender for the Universal Championship in a thrilling five-way match at Extreme Rules in June, after Samoa Joe won the tie. Wyatt attacked Seth Rollins at WWE 2K18 in July and then again on Raw, defeating him both at Great Balls of Fire in July and then again on the following Raw. Wyatt began a feud with Finn Bálor in the weeks following an encounter between the two teams at SummerSlam in August, where Bálor defeated Wyatt under his "Demon King" image. At No Mercy the following month, Wyatt lost to Bálor once more. Wyatt and Bálor were due to meet for the third time at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs in October, but Wyatt was unable to participate due to an illness concern and was later replaced in the match by AJ Styles, bringing the feud between Wyatt and Bálor to a halt. Wyatt appeared in Raw on November 13 in a losing fight against Jason Jordan in a losing effort.

Wyatt reemerged in a feud with Matt Hardy in November after losing him in a match, triggering Hardy's "Broken" gimmick. In January 2018, the two wrestled again during Raw 25 Years, where Wyatt was victorious once more. Wyatt and Hardy eliminated each other at number 8 on January 28, but he failed to win the tournament after Wyatt and Hardy killed each other simultaneously. Wyatt was defeated by Hardy in a singles match at the Elimination Chamber in February. Hardy defeated Wyatt in a Ultimate Deletion match on March 19 on Raw's page. "Lake of Reincarnation," where Wyatt vanished, making his identity uncertain following the match. Wyatt returned and turned face after being able to help Hardy beat GrestleMania 34 in April. They formed a squad and won the vacant Raw Tag Team Championship at Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27, defeating Cesaro and Sheamus. In their first pay-per-view championship defense at Extreme Rules in July, they lost the titles to B-Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel). They invoked their rematch clause against The B-Team on the 23rd episode of Raw, but they were dissatisfied. Hardy took time off to recover his injury and disbanded the team soon after.

In April 2019, ominous vignettes began airing on WWE television featuring a sinister buzzard puppet, a witch doll, and several other items. Wyatt appeared in pre-recorded segments as the host of a surreal children's program called Firefly Fun House, with longer hair and a leaner body. Mercy the Buzzard (a reference to Wyatt's previous gimmick) and Abby the Witch appeared in Ramblin's Rabbit and Huskus the Pig Boy, as well as one for Mr. McMahon that occasionally appears. Wyatt ripped a cardboard cut out of his old self with a chainsaw, and told viewers that all they had to do to "light the way" was to "let me in." The Firefly Fun House segments became more sinister over the next few weeks, with Wyatt painting a picture of the Wyatt Family home burning with Sister Abigail inside, a reference to Randy Orton's WrestleMania 33 rivalry. According to another, Wyatt was having a picnic with expressionless children, while another reported that he could control his light. He wore more sinister clothing and a demonic mask, as he said he was there "to protect us."

Wyatt returned as The Fiend and slashed Finn Bálor with a Sister Abigail on July 15, re-establishing himself as a heel. The Fiend character then played his debut match at SummerSlam, defeating Bálor in just a few minutes. The Fiend attacked many WWE Hall of Famers and legends, including Kurt Angle, Jerry Lawler, Kane, and Mick Foley, who were also adopting Foley's finishing move, The Mandible Claw. Seth Rollins, the Fiend, began a feud with him at Clash of Champions, beginning with him. They clashed in a Cell match in Hell, but the match came to a halt because the Fiend was buried under several arms and struck with a sledgehammer by Rollins. Despite the match's conclusion, the Fiend increased as authorities continued to arrest Rollins and incapacitate him with the Mandible Claw. The show was notable for the fans' reaction, who booed loudly and chanted insultly even after the show had been off the air. The Fiend defeated Rollins at Crown Jewel in a falls count anywhere in a fight to win the Universal Championship after being drafted to the SmackDown brand during the 2019 Draft. Due to Wyatt's being a member of the company, the name was then transferred to SmackDown. The WWE Championship has therefore shifted to Raw due to champion Brock Lesnar's departure from the brand.

Wyatt introduced two new belt styles after his title triumph. The first one, which was based on his Firefly Fun House design, was a blue-strapped version of SmackDown, while the other was a custom championship belt for The Fiend. The character's face was included in the new edition, as well as his words "Hurt" and "Let [Me] In" on the strap (the character's face). Wyatt retaliated with Daniel Bryan, retaining the title over him at Survivor Series. The Fiend screamed Bryan after he agreed to a rematch on the following SmackDown. Wyatt's old rival The Miz began a brief feud with Bryan's old neighbor The Miz, climaxing in a non-title match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, where Wyatt fought for the first time as his Firefly Fun House character defeated Miz. Bryan, now with a buzz cut and short beard, returned to action and sluggishly confronted Wyatt. The Fiend then defeated Bryan in a tense match at the Royal Rumble, effectively ending their feud.

During an onscreen interview that was not scheduled for Super Showdown, Hall of Famer Goldberg challenged The Fiend for the Universal Championship on February 7 episode of SmackDown. The Fiend character suffered his first loss to Goldberg at the festival, ending his reign at 118 days. The Fiend confronted a returning John Cena and challenged him to a match at WrestleMania 36 that Cena accepted, a match rematch from 2014's WrestleMania XXXX. The two players faced off in a thrilling trip through history rather than a traditional wrestling match, with moments from Wyatt's and Cena's history being played out. The Fiend ultimately defeated Cena; this was Wyatt's first (and only) victory at WrestleMania.

Wyatt competed Braun Strowman, who won the Universal Championship at WrestleMania, on the Smackdown episode on April 10th. At Money in the Bank, where Wyatt, who was wrestling as his Firefly Fun House character, was unsuccessful in winning the championship. Wyatt returned to Firefly Fun House on June 19 to confront Strowman, reintroducing his original "Eater of the Worlds" gimmick in the process and reaffiring their rivalry after a one-month absence. Wyatt defeated Strowman in a non-title match at Extreme Rules called the Wyatt Swamp Fight. The Fiend returned to SmackDown's episode on July 31 by shaming Alexa Bliss, whom the Fiendish had a fondness for. When Strowman hit Bliss with a gorilla press two weeks later, the Fiend seemed to have attempted to assist Bliss as Strowman appeared and the Fiends were celebrating their match together. The Fiend defeated Strowman for the second time at SummerSlam. The Fiend and the Strowman would both be struck by a returning Roman Reigns after the match. The Fiend defended the title against Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat match in which Reigns pinned Strowman to victory for the first time a week later at Payback.

His ring name was officially reduced to The Fiend in September, indicating a complete change in what was once thought to be Wyatt's alter ego. The Fiend returned from SmackDown's episode on October 2nd and sluggish Kevin Owens. After beating Owens, he'd then give his hand to Alexa Bliss, who smirked and departed, and the two of them vanished. On the following week's episode, where the Fiend defeated Owens, the Fiend would then face Owens in his first match on SmackDown. The Fiend was introduced to the Raw brand as part of the 2020 Draft in October. On October 26, Orton revived his old rivalry with Randy Orton, and at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, Orton defeated The Fiendo in a Firefly Inferno match before setting his body on fire.

The Fiend returned to Fastlane on March 21, 2021, with a new grotesque look, assisting Alexa Bliss during her intergender match against Randy Orton, attacking Orton with a Sister Abigail, allowing Bliss to win the pinfall match. For WrestleMania 37, another match between The Fiend and Orton was also scheduled. With black liquid pouring down her face, the Fiend returned to his old appearance, with charred skin and clothing in the match. Orton was unable to get an RKO and win by the end of the game, but the Fiend was disinterested long enough. The lights went out and the pair disappeared after a brief staredown between The Fiend and Bliss. On the following episode of Raw on April 12, 2021, Bliss declared that she no longer needed him, while Wyatt's jubilant Firefly Fun House persona appeared in a Firefly Fun House segment, expressing her excitement for a new start. This was Wyatt's last appearance in WWE, after being released on July 31, 2021, effectively ending his 12-year with the company.

In September 2022, WWE began performing a cappella version of "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane at live events and during commercial breaks of televised shows, as well as hiding QR codes in several places on episodes of Raw and SmackDown. Each code led to special websites containing illustrations, minigames, and riddles that were all likely connected to the forthcoming Extreme Rules event. Bray Wyatt officially returned to WWE on October 8, 2022, as well as live-action versions of his Firefly Fun House characters, revealing himself as the person behind the "White Rabbit" teases. A new mask was also on display at Wyatt, indicating that another person's appearance had changed. He then unveiled his mask and said "I'm here" to the camera, an allusion to one of his early catches under the Wyatt moniker, before blowing out the light to his lantern.

Wyatt was seen in his latest mask on the October 11 episode of Raw, adding Wyatt in his new mask. Wyatt will be seen on the forthcoming episode of SmackDown, according to a new QR code. Wyatt returned to the company with a new theme song and a video, breaking kayfabe and actually reaching the viewers. A video of Wyatt wearing his new mask sparked a potential split personality gimmick.
