Anton Yelchin Life

Anton Viktorovich Yelchin (March 11, 1989 – June 19, 2016) was a Russian-American actor.

Pavel Chekov appeared in three Star Trek films: Star Trek Into Darkness (2009), Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), and the recently released Star Trek Beyond (2016).

When he was a baby, he and his family immigrated to Leningrad, Yelchin, Russia.

Yelchin began to appear in television and film roles in the late 1990s.

Steven Spielberg's miniseries Taken aided him in his development.

Yelchin appeared in Fright Night, Hearts in Atlantis, Alpha Dog, Like Crazy, Green Room, and the recently released Trollhunters.

Early life and education

Yelchin was born in Leningrad, Russia's Soviet Union, on March 11, 1989. Irina Korina and Viktor Yelchin, his parents, were pair figure skaters who performed in the Leningrad Ice Ballet for 15 years. His family is Jewish and was subjected to religious and political persecution in the Soviet Union. Yelchin said that his grandparents "suffered in ways [he] can't even begin to comprehend under Stalin." Yelchin's parents were ranked third in the national rankings; they thus qualified for the 1972 Winter Olympics, but were not permitted to participate by the Soviet authorities. "I don't know what it was because they were Jewish or because the KGB didn't want them to travel," Yelchin said.

Yelchin's family immigrated to the United States in September 1989, six months old, and the Department of State granted refugee status. Since being Sasha Cohen's first trainer, his mother worked as a figure skating choreographer and his father as a figure skating coach. Eugene Yelchin, the children's writer and painter, is Yelchin's uncle. "A woman came up, saw Anton, and said, 'He's gorgeous,'" Yelchin's mother wrote in an article published in the Los Angeles Times in December 1989. He'll be a star of the '"The actor will be a comedian." Yelchin said he "wasn't very good" at figure skating, his parents' occupation.

Yelchin was born with cystic fibrosis. However, the Anton Yelchin Foundation's medical condition was only revealed posthumously in 2017.

Yelchin studied film at the University of Southern California in the fall of 2007.

Personal life

Yelchin loved playing guitar, which he said brought him joy, and he was a fan of acoustic blues music. The Hammerheads was once a member of a punk band.

He was also interested in photography. Anton Yelchin's photography exhibition called Prosthetic Beauty in January 2018 was on view at De Buck Gallery in New York City. As exhibits continue, Yelchin's photography has since been highly praised by numerous publications around the world.

Yelchin dated Kristen Stewart briefly when they were filming Fierce People; after his death, she described him as her "first heartbreak."
