Takeru Satoh Career

Career

Satoh was recruited by a Whitman, Inc. agent in Harajuku, Tokyo, when he was in senior high school and made his debut in 2006. Princess Princess D (TV Asahi), where he played Toru Kouno, was his first drama. He appeared in Shinigami no Ballad (Kentaroh Ishihara) in 2007 and gained fame in the 17th installment of the Kamen Rider series as Ryotaro Nogami. Den-O's renown is due in large part to its comedic timing, according to Satoh.

Satoh starred in the award-winning TBS drama Rookies as Yuya Okada, one of a high school baseball team made up of a group of delinquents, owing to the success and fame of Kamen Rider Den-O and its two subsequent cinematic releases in the spring of 2008. Even though Satoh played a minor supporting role in Rookies, he believes his role in Rookies would be his breakout role, as Rookies was seen on prime time television and attracted a much larger audience than any of his previous roles. In the summer of 2009, Satoh appeared in the live action.

In the third film of Kamen Rider Den-O in October 2008, Satoh reprised his role as Ryotaro (Den-O). He also appeared in the drama Bloody Monday, which was based on the manga with the same name.

Satoh appeared or guest-starred in television programs such as Mei's Butler, Mr. Brain, True Horror Stories, and MW Dai-shool-shool, as well as films such as Goemon and Beck. In 2010, he appeared Okada Iz in his first Taiga drama Rymaden, and he earned his first leading role on prime time television with teen drama Q10.

He was confirmed to appear as Himura Kenshin in a live action film version of Rurouni Kenshin's manga series Rurouni Kenshin on June 28, 2011.

The film, which was released in August 2012, earned a total of 3.01 billion yen at the domestic box office. In the Japanese adaptation of Shakespearean classic Romeo and Juliet, Satoh made his debut as Romeo.

Tonbi, the author's subsequent project, was based on a novel by Shigematsu Kiyoshi. He appeared in Real, a science fiction mystery film starring Kiyoshi Kurosawa, as well as The Liar and His Lover (he fell in love with my lie/she likes lies too much) a live-adaptation film based on the manga Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru.

Satoh played a rookie detective in Fuji TV's Bitter Blood in 2014. In two sequel films of Rurouni Kenshin's live action film, Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends, both of which were released in 2014, he revived Himura Kenshin. Nobuhiro Watsuki, a Rurouni Kenshin manga author, praised Satoh's appearance and named him as the ideal actor to portray Kenshin. Emi Takei, Munetaka Aoki, and producer Keishi tomo were all appointed "Cultural Ambassador" to the Philippines by the Makati City council on August 7th, 2014.

He made his television return with the acclaimed TBS series The Emperor's Cook in early 2015. He continued with three Toho Corporation films in 2015 and 2016, including the manga live adaptation Bakuman and a light novel version If Cats Disappeared from the World, as well as Someone. He received the award for best actor at the 41st Japan Academy Prize for his role in the 2017 film The 8-Year Engagement (The true story of the bride's miracle over eight years). He appeared in two award-winning television series, NHK Asadora Hanbun, Aoi, and TBS' Blues of Stepmother and Daughter. In the last Kamen Rider film of the Heisei period, he reprised the role of Ryotaro Nogami.

In 2018, it was revealed that the Rurouni Kenshin series would get two new installments, a prequel and a sequel to the original trilogy, with Satoh reprising his lead role. In June 2019, the principal filming was completed, and the films will be released in 2020.

Satoh, One OK Rock, and Rynosuke Kamiki, along with One OK Rock and Rynoe Kamiki, left Amuse, Inc. and founded a new company with co-actor Ryuno Kamiki in 2021. In addition,, he is an unofficial participant of the Elite Four in the Pokémon Trading Card Game since December 2021.
