Professional career

Akgün is a product of the Galatasaray youth academy, who began in 2011. In the 2018 Turkish Super Cup 1–1 (5–4) penalty shootout loss to Akhisar Belediyespor on August 5, 2018, he made his professional debut for Galatasaray.

In 4–1 victory over Boluspor on 29 January 29, 2019, Akgün scored a hat-trick.

Adana Demirspor re-hired Akgün, who appeared in last season, on September 6, 2021, Galatasaray's Adana Demirspor.

International career
