Tristan Ann Prettyman (born May 23, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter and former Roxy model from San Diego, California.

She was signed to Virgin Records until 2013 and unveiled her first major label album Twentythree on August 2, 2005, and her second album Hello...x was released on April 15, 2008.

Cedar + Gold, her third studio album, was released on October 2, 2012.

Prettyman released "Back To Home" on October 27, 2014.

During the fall of 2014, she toured around the country with Eric Hutchinson in support of his City and Sand tour.

Early life

Prettyman was born and raised in Del Mar, California's town. At the age of 12, a pretty man started surfing as an elective at her junior high school. She competed in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) High School Division, earning her fifth place in the state championship while still in middle school and looking for her fifth place. She attended Torment Pines High School in neighboring Carmel Valley.

Prettyman was given a mix tape of Ani DiFranco's music around the age of 15. In 1993, Ani DiFranco's "Puddle Dive" album was released. Prettyman began playing with her father's old acoustic guitar. Though her parents were initially furious about "taking" the guitar, they later became involved of her interest in music.

Prettyman began playing in front of family and friends, as well as an executive of the production firm The Moonshine corporation, who adored Prettyman's role and begged her to attend the company's film Shelter. On the film's soundtrack, Prettyman's song "Anything at All" was eventually included.

Personal life

Prettyman revealed on Twitter and Facebook that she was connected with venture capitalist Bill Maris in December 2013. She and Maris were married at Kruger National Park in South Africa on August 26, 2014. On February 17, 2015, she revealed on social media that she was expecting their first child. Kylo Everest Maris, their son, was born on August 26, 2015. Prettyman revealed on her website that she and Maris were ending their marriage in July 2018.

Prettyman began playing professionally in clubs and bars around San Diego County before being invited to join Jason Mraz on his national tour. Prettyman spent winter 2004 in New York with producer Josh Deutsch.

Twentythree, Prettyman's first album, was released on August 2, 2005, when she was 23 years old. The name honors the 23 Enigma, a term referring to the occurrence of the number 23 in daily life, as shown in Robert Anton Wilson's book Cosmic Trigger. According to Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart, the album debuted at number 24. Hello...x, Prettyman's second album, was released in 2008 and has sold 18, 187 copies in its first week, debuting at 27 on the Billboard 200.

Prettyman performs and promotes Taylor Guitars, as well as Fender & Gretsch. Prettyman, a former Roxy model and avid surfer who was on tour, was interviewed by Men's Fitness in 2008 and asked about surfing and staying healthy while on tour.

"My Oh My" was the first single from Prettyman's third studio album Cedar + Gold in June 2012. Cedar + Gold was published on October 2, 2012 and debuted at number 47 on the Billboard 200 and 19 on Top Digital Albums, behind Johnson and Gold. "I Was Gonna Marry You" was the album's second single and debuted on October 2. In October and November 2012, Prettyman performed with The Script in support of the album. In the 2013 film Safe Haven and the accompanying soundtrack of Nicholas Sparks' book "Say Anything" from Cedar + Gold, "Say Anything" from Cedar + Gold is included.

Prettyman's EP "Back to Home" was released on October 27, 2014. It's the first time an album has been released in ten years.
