Following similar moves from Morrisons and Tesco, Aldi staff now have body-worn cameras amid a 'increase in shoplifting.'

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 26, 2023
Giles Hurley, the company's CEO, said that the company had not been 'immune' to reports increases in people stealing from shops, a common pattern seen around the world, with some robbers simply filling up carrier bags with items and leaving. While Aldi bosses assess their effectiveness in reducing crime and risk to employees, security staff and shop assistants are being provided with the cameras, which record video and audio as a deterrent to would-be robbery. The new Aldi is the first in a long line of big stores to offer body cameras, after Waitrose, Morrisons, and Tesco, which has promised to offer the technology to every member of frontline employees.

We live in Britain's shoplifting capital; it's utter LAWLESS; we've given up on the police

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 24, 2023
EXCLUSIVE: Store owners in Britain's shoplifting capital are living in a 'lawless' town, where gangland chiefs rule the streets and robbers openly sell their stolen goods. Last week, MailOnline revealed the areas that were hardest harmed by shoplifting. Cleveland ranked as the city with the most number of shoplifting incidents in the last five years per 1,000 people. There were 32,378 reports of shoplifting in the region from 2018 to 23. According to the most recent census results, there are 570,000 people per 1,000, which equates to 56.80 crimes per 1,000 in population. Hartlepool shop owners and locals, who are under Cleveland Police's custody, told MailOnline that criminal gang bosses had been arrested and shoplifting was prohibited, and that storelifting had been stopped.
