Career
Simmons lent her name to Sophie's Place, a partially government-funded child advocacy center, in January 2012. She advocated for the establishment of the centre with the support of Surrey, British Columbia, Dianne Watts, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Simmons and her family continue to help The Centre for Child Development and Sophie's Place Child and Youth Advocacy Centre by fundraising for the organizations, which "provides "a safe place for [children] to talk about their experience with physical, mental, or sexual assault with properly trained staff and law enforcement professionals."
