Sky Ferreira Life

Sky Tonia Ferreira (born July 8, 1992) is an American singer, guitarist, model, and actress.

Ferreira began posting videos of herself singing songs she had written on Myspace, leading to her encounter with Bloodshy & Avant and a future recording contract with Parlophone in 2009.

As If!, her first extended play, defused elements of electropop and dance music, was released in 2011.

Ferreira's second extended play Ghost (2012) mixed pop with more stripped-down song designs and featured collaborations with Jon Brion and Shirley Manson, as well as the critically acclaimed track "Everything Is Embarrassing," which she coproduced with Dev Hynes. Ferreira's debut studio album Night Time, 2013, marking a change from her previous style by combining more experimental indie rock with synth-pop elements.

The album was preceded by its lead single "You're Not the One."

After being arrested for drug possession and appearing in Eli Roth's The Green Inferno, she ventured into film that year.

After being announced as the first act on the international Bangerz Tour, headlined by Miley Cyrus, which began on February 14, 2014, she was exposed to a mainstream audience. Ferreira's earlier works were influenced by dance-pop, but her most recent projects were an experiment in acoustic, new wave, and mainly indie rock musical styles.

Her lyrical writing began with themes of rebellion and teenage romance and has since expanded to address personal insecurities and more mature romantic topics.

She has modeled for many brands and magazines, including serving as the spokeswoman for Redken in 2014.

Early life

Sky Tonia Ferreira was born in Venice, Los Angeles, on July 8, 1992. Ferreira's ancestry is rooted in Native American, Brazilian, and Portuguese Portuguese roots.

Ferreira was largely raised by her grandmother, who had been Michael Jackson's personal hairstylist for more than 30 years. "I was raised around him, I was always there [and] had holidays with him and stuff like that," she said, adding that she was unaware of his fame before she was 13 years old. Ferreira expressed an interest in singing as a child, and Ferreira's grandmother enrolled her in opera lessons with Jackson's encouragement. Ferreira has said she was sexually assaulted in her adolescence twice, firstly in a situation involving a stranger who had broken into her home twice. Ferreira said in an interview with Rookie: "I've never said anything [about this publicly] because I don't want it to define me, but I feel it's appropriate to say something [here]. People believe it identifies you, but it isn't. It's really sad, disgusting, and traumatizing, but it doesn't make you who you are." Ferreira dropped out of high school after completing her sophomore year.
