Shannon Moore Career

Professional wrestling career

Moore befriended Matt and Jeff Hardy as a youth and competed in their own backyard wrestling competition. Moore was coached by the Hardy brothers before they began wrestling professionally, and they defeated Jeff on April 8, 1995 against Jeff. Moore began competing on the independent circuit, fighting for the North Carolina-based Southern Championship Wrestling and National Championship Wrestling tournaments as "Kid Dynamo," and in both cases, he earned the Light Heavyweight Championship. In addition, he competed for the Organization of Modern Extreme Grappling Arts (OMEGA), the Hardys' promotion. He won the OMEGA New Frontiers Championship once before and the OMEGA Light Heavyweight Championship on two occasions in OMEGA. He met Gregory Shane Helms during his time in OMEGA, and the pair formed the Bad Street Boys with Christian York and Joey Matthews in NWA Worldwide. Moore began wrestling for the Tennessee-based Music City Wrestling Association in the late 1990s.

Moore was recruited by World Championship Wrestling (WCW), who had been given the authority to hire twenty-one young cruiserweights for the Atlanta-based promotion in 1999. Jimmy Hart put him in a group dubbed "3 Count" for his time. The 'N Sync', a young male wrestlers made up of Moore, Evan Karagias, and Shane Helms, were a trio of young male wrestlers to use a boy band gimmick, parodying bands such as the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync.' The 3 Count debuted in WCW in November 1999, and they began lip synching the song "Can't Get You Out Of My Heart" in the ring prior to their matches. All three members of 3 Count won the WCW Hardcore Championship on February 28, 2000 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with all three members of the team simultaneously pinning him. 3 Count reigned as "co-champions" until March 19, at Uncensored, where Knobs regained the title by pinning all three men consecutively.

3 out of 3 participants were not interested in the Millionaire's Club versus The New Blood angle in mid-2000 because Helms was legitimately excluded with a broken nose. When the team reconvened in the summer of 2000, they premiered "Dance With 3 Count" as a result. Tank Abbott, a mixed martial artist, became an avid fan of 3 Count's shows, chastising them, acting as their talent manager and occasionally inserting himself as a back-up dancer. 3 Counts were involved in a long-running feud (scripted rivalry) with the Jung Dragons, with the Dragons attempting to rob 3 Count's fictional recording deal. This culminated in a ladder match between the two teams at New Blood Rising, which the 3 Count won due to Abbott's interference. As a result, Abbott said he should be the lead singer of 3 counts but was rejected by the other three members, sparking a feud. Following all of this, the 3 Count briefly clashed with Misfits In Action.

With Moore and Helms kicking Karagias out of the group for continually taking the spotlight, 3 Count began to fall apart in late 2000. Karagias joined forces with former Jung Dragons member Jamie Knoble and the three teams in a Triangle match in Mayhem, which the 3 Counts won. The six guys competed in a ladder match for the number one contender for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship at Starrcade. Both Moore and Helms grabbed the deal at the same time and later competed for the right to challenge the champion, which Helms won.

Moore and Helms briefly appeared in NWA Wildside, where they held the NWA Wildside Tag Team Championship for a single day after defeating Suicidal Tendencies (John Phoenix and Adam Jacobs) on January 19, 2001. On February 18, Moore and Helms were competing in a cruiserweight elimination match at SuperBrawl Revenge, in which Helms disqualified Moore and then went on to win the match. Moore and his longtime friend Karagias assaulted Helms after the match. Moore and Karagias joined forces once more to compete in a tournament for the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship, but Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr. were disqualified.

The World Wrestling Federation bought WCW, which included Moore's employment, in March 2001. Moore was recruited to the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA), a Louisville-based WWF developmental territory. He joined Evan Karagias, and the two of them captured the HWA Tag Team Championship on October 13, 2001, defeating Dean and Chet Jablonski. The island Boyz took the championship for a month before losing it to the Island Boys on November 14. Moore also won the HWA Cruiserweight Championship twice in early 2002.

Moore was sent to the SmackDown in July 2002. Velocity was the brand's first appearance. Moore became a heel (villainous) acolyte of Matt Hardy in December, who had begun proselytizing a philosophy referred to as "Mattitude" and describing himself as "Matt Hardy Version 1.0" from the start of his career. Moore began dressing like Hardy, accompanying him to ringside and playing in his matches. Moore aided Hardy to shed several pounds in order to qualify for a WWE Cruiserweight Championship match at No Way Out. Moore distracted champion Billy Kidman during the championship game to force Hardy to win and the championship. Crash Holly was named as the newest MF on April 24. He was subordinated to Moore, and as such was referred to as a "Moore-on." When Hardy was dissatisfied with either Moore or Holly, he would physically assault them. On June 30, Holly was formally dropped from WWE. Moore and Hardy qualified Los Guerreros for the WWE Tag Team Championship on September 23, but they were dissatisfied.

Moore and Hardy continued to work together until November 17, when Hardy joined SmackDown! and joined the Raw brand.

As a result, Paul Heyman, SmackDown!

's then-general manager decided to discipline Hardy for leaving his show by directing Moore to face a string of much bigger opponents. Moore was squashed by Matt Morgan, Nathan Jones, and The Big Show for weeks before triumphing A-Train in a dramatic on the December 11 episode of SmackDown! Brock Lesnar, the WWE champion, had been scheduled to defend the title against a wrestler chosen by a lottery machine that had prompted Moore's name. After beating Moore, Lesnar revealed that the whole process had been rigged, and Moore's name was on all the balls. Moore and Hardcore Holly teamed up to defeat A-Train and Morgan immediately afterward, winning Holly a championship match against Lesnar. In 2004, WrestleMania XX Moore competed in a "Cruiserweight Open" for the Cruiserweight Championship, but was disqualified by ltimo Dragón. Moore appeared in the WWE Championship match on July 8 as "El Gran Luchadore" under a mask, before he faces John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL). Moore was initially dominated by his much larger rival, but second Luchadore (the disguised Eddie Guerrero) took Moore's place, prompting Layfield to abandon Moore and giving Moore the victory by countout. Moore competed in the cruiserweight division and Velocity throughout 2004 and 2005. Moore appeared in a WWE Championship match on the SmackDown episode on December 30, 2004, but JBL soon defeated him. Moore appeared at No Way Out pay-per-view in February 2005, but Paul London had to cancel him due to a No Way Out pay-per-view match for the Cruiserweight Championship.

His Hummer was involved in a head-on collision with a vehicle operated by an inebriated United States Army Sergeant in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on March 21. He recovered quickly from his injury, but WWE suspended him on July 5.

Moore returned to the independent circuit shortly thereafter, but the no-compete clause in his deal (which prohibits WWE employees from being fired or negotiating a non-competent release from appearing on television within a given time period) did not expire until November 1st year. Moore appeared at an AWA Superstars of Wrestling exhibition, competing in a tournament for the WSL World Light Heavyweight Championship. Moore defeated Dexter Poindexter, Ricky Landell, and "Amazing" N8 Mattson before losing to "Krazy K" Kirby Mack in the finals. Davey Richards, a wrestler at a Pro Wrestling WAR show, J.J. Perez at an All Pro Wrestling exhibition, and Sonjay Dutt at Universal Uproar were among the upcoming battles over the next few months. He also wrestled A.J. On February 2, 2006, styles on a United Wrestling Association charity exhibition.

Moore founded the "School of Punk" in this period.

Moore made his Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) debut on Impact!'s December 17 episode, with him in the Impact Zone's rafters and holding a sign that reads: "X Division needs to get Punk'd." He was given the nickname "Prince of Punk" when joining the Army. On the upcoming episode of Impact!, he appeared in the rafters once more.

Moore appeared on the stage once more on the December 31 episode, before attacking A.J. Styles during a tag team match on Impact!'s special midnight episode, preventing him from winning the NWA World Tag Team Championship with Christopher Daniels. Moore and Styles fought each other over Moore and Styles, with Moore stalking Styles, threatening him, and stealing his "Mr. TNA" award plaque. Moore defeated Moore in a street brawl. Moore faced Roderick Strong and Jay Lethal in a three-way match for a spot on Team USA on February 18, but Lethal won the match. Moore defeated Styles and Daniels later in a match with Samoa Joe. Moore's last match as part of TNA's Impact! aired on March 18 as he, America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm), and Alex Shelley lost to Styles, Daniels, Ron Killings, and Rhino.

Moore debuted in vignettes in July 2006 as part of WWE's ECW family, making his first appearances in vignettes as "The Reject." Moore made only sporadic appearances during the remainder of 2006 and early 2007, losing each time.

SmackDown's February 16, 2007 episode! Moore has since changed brands, including other SmackDown members, in an in-ring brawl! Cruiserweights were on display in No Way Out, a prelude to a Cruiserweight Open at No Way Out. Moore was barred from the Cruiserweight Open by defending WWE Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms. Moore then became a fan favorite by partnering with Scotty 2 Hotty and Jimmy Wang to defeat Helms, Chavo Guerrero Jr., and Daivari in a six-man tag team match.

Moore returned from television on June 15 episode of SmackDown!, a major four-way contender match for the Cruiserweight Championship, which was won by Wang Yang but also involved Daivari and Jamie Noble. Moore teamed with Wang Yang in a losing bid against Guerrero and Noble the following week. In July, Moore took part in the 20-man tournament royal for the World Heavyweight Championship, but he was the third individual to be banned. Noble, Funaki, Wang Yang, and Guerrero all competed in the "Cruiserweight Open" at The Great American Bash. Hornswoggle had the match inadvertently won by the season. In losing attempts, he also met Noble and Guerrero. Moore began feuding with Noble, appearing in several backstage vignettes together, where he mocked Noble for his obsession with Hornswoggle. Moore beat Noble on the SmackDown episode on September 14 by pretending that Hornswoggle was at ringside, distracting Noble, and allowing Moore to pin him for the victory. Noble pinned Moore in a rematch two weeks later.

Moore and Yang formed a tag team in October 2007, which culminated in their victory over Deuce 'n Domino. On the November 9 episode of SmackDown, they were the second team eliminated, and later competed in a tag team brawl to determine the number one contenders to the WWE Tag Team Championship. Moore and Yang qualified John Morrison and The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championship in December, but they were unsuccessful, igniting a rivalry between the two teams. Moore and Yang defeated Morrison and The Miz in a non-title match, giving them a rematch for the championship next week. Moore and Wang Yang defeated Morrison and the Miz once more on January 1, 2008, this time in a six-person tag team match that also involved Layla and Kelly Kelly.
