Acting career
Dheer made his acting debut in 2008 with Ashutosh Gowariker's historical drama Jodhaa Akbar, in which he co-starred alongside Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Sharifuddin Hussain, Akbar's brother-in-law. Though the film received critical acclaim and box office success, Dheer was lauded for his work, with noted analyst Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama praising him as "fantastic." In Apoorva Lakhia's thrilling action thriller Mission Istaanbul, he appeared alongside Vivek Oberoi, Shriya Saran, and Zayed Khan.
Dheer appeared in the comedy Ready in Anees Bazmee in 2011, as well as Salman Khan and Asin. He appeared in Arbaaz Khan's action film Dabangg 2 alongside Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, and Prakash Raj over the next year. In 2013, he appeared as the main antagonist in Rohit Shetty's action comedy Chennai Express, starring Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.
