Nathan Phillips Career

Life and career

He began his acting career in 1999, with a role on the well-known Australian soap opera Neighbours. He began his television career later, and he was soon followed by Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story, Blue Heelers, Something in the Air, and The Saddle Club.

He made his film debut in Warriors of Virtue: Return to Tao in 2002 (also starring Kevin Smith, Shedrack Anderson III, and Nina Liu). His next appearance, as the leader in Australian Rules, earned him a nomination for the Best Actor award in Australia's Film Critics Circle, alongside David Gulpililil, Guy Pearce, and Vince Colosimo.

Phillips has appeared in films including "Take Away (with Rose Byrne), One Perfect Day (with Abbie Cornish), Under the Radar (with Abbie Cornish), and Hollywood films including Chernobyl Diaries, Redline and Surfer, Dude, and of course Snakes on a Plane. Ben Mitchell, a backpacker in 2005's hit horror film Wolf Creek, is perhaps best known for his appearance as backpacker Ben Mitchell. Following the success of this film, Phillips moved to Los Angeles, where he had been stationed for many years.

Despite being tipped for major roles in Hollywood following Wolf Creek's popularity, Phillips decided to travel for lengthy stretches of time rather than focusing on his work as an actor. Phillips' career has, to date, consisted mainly of roles in low-budget films and television, including his role as Tom Wills, Australia's first major cricketer and father of Australian rules football. Phillips appeared in the Nine Networks Halifax Retribution in 2020.

Phillips has returned to Australia and has been working on television and film projects from 2019 to date. Phillips was also a director on 2019's Blood Vessel, in addition to acting.
