He has worked with many organisations over the years, including Ring of Honor, Full Impact Pro, IWA Mid-South, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Big Japan Pro Wrestling, and Combat Zone Wrestling. Summers is well-known for his ability to act in a mix of hardcore wrestling, deathmatches, and brawls, as well as his appearance in the 2008 film The Wrestler.

Necro Butcher Career

Professional wrestling career

Summers made his professional wrestling debut on January 2, 1998, after partnering with Aaron White to face Victor Pain and Canyon. As "Michael Van Slyck," the summers, who were enlisted in the 20th Special Forces Group, went on to perform small independent shows around Texas, and then changed to Sanders. After defeating Damon Richards to become the IHW Hardcore champion on March 16, 1999, Necro Butcher won his first professional wrestling championship. Butcher's fame grew in Texas, and he defeated Jay Diego in his first appearance in TCW to become the company's Hardcore champion. TCW's growth came to a halt after a dispute with its promoter. Before leaving the company, he lost the Hardcore title to Hellhammer. Butcher continued to build his reputation as Texas's most feared Death Match wrestler. Butcher met "Mad" Man Pondo for the first time on October 10, 1999.

Butcher had been active in the top independent leagues in 2001, attempting to make a name for himself in the top independent leagues. Butcher made a name for herself in the NWA promotions in 2002, where he became well known. He beat Mark Wolf, Mitch Page, 2 Tuff Tony, and then Spyder Nate Webb to become the 2002 King of the Deathmatch, defeating him in July 2002. One of Necro's most popular matches was a 200 Light Tubes deathmatch against Mad Man Pondo, which proved to be one of the most bloody, gruesome, and brutal matches in wrestling history at IWA-MS: No Blood, No Guts, No Glory. Necro and Pondo were both horribly multilated by the temperature and carcinogen-laden light tube glass, and Necro's left arm was 2 inches wide. Unlike the Japanese matches, the glass was not cleaned out of the ring by attendants during the match, and the ring was smaller than a traditional wrestling ring.

Necro will qualify for the finals of the 2005 Strong Style Tournament, defeating Eddie Kingston and B. J. Whitmer but losing to Chris Hero. Necro played two high-profile matches against both Samoa Joe and Low Ki in 2005 and 2006. In their first match, IWA's debut in the ECW Arena, he lost to Joe. In January 2006, he lost to Joe again. In Low-Ki's second match in the promotion, he defeated Necro three months later. In December, the two teams rematch in which the stipulation was a tap out/knock out finish. Despite losing all four games, Necro's popularity remained high despite being subjected to a lot of abuse from both Joe and Ki.

Low-Ki and Homicide defeated him in mid-2007 at IWA MS Point Proven in Philadelphia, Necro, and his long tag team partner Toby Klein (aka The Tough Crazy Bastards) battled and were defeated by Low-Ki and Homicide. Halfbreed Billy Gram led the TCB to the ring. In a three-way dance against Corporal Robinson and Tank, Necro eventually earned his first IWA gold, the Death Match title, on September 9, 2007. Danny Havoc, the tenacious defender, would have to forfeit the title on March 1, 2008.

His success in IWA-MS led him to his rise as the leader of hardcore oriented indy sales in North America. Butcher was a wrestler for Combat Zone Wrestling, losing to him in the first Tournament of Death in 2002. Butcher returned the following year and was disqualified in round two by Ian Rotten. He reached the final at the 3rd annual Tournament of Death before winning the Tournament of Death 4 by defeating John Zandig and Nick Gage. With this victory, he became the first person to win both the King of the Deathmatch and Tournament of Death. Necro, Toby Klein, and Joker clashed with Nick Gage, Justice Pain, and John Zandig at Cage of Death VII on December 10, 2005. Pain was supposed to perform a Pain Thriller on Necro during the game, but Necro sandbagged the switch. Pain threw Necro over the top rope and onto the ground during his second attempt. Necro recovered and returned to the ring only to face Legit Heat with Pain, a real challenge. Multiple shots have been fired by Necro, who were watching and taking care of the other wrestlers in the cage. After the match, neither had any bad feelings, and the situation had never escalated after. On December 12, 2009, Necro returned to CZW at Cage of Death XI. Necro participated in the tenth Annual Tournament of Death, but Matt Tremont was disqualified in the first round by "Bulldozer" Matt Tremont.

Necro defeated CZW World Heavyweight Champion Masada at Cerebral on October 13, 2012 in a losing effort against reigning CZW World Heavyweight Champion Masada.

At the 2003 Gathering of the Juggalos, where he met "Hollywood" Chuck Hogan in a Light tube Deathmatch, the summers debuted in Juggalo Championship Wrestling. The match was supposed to be broadcast on video, but due to the number of bruises sustained by the wrestlers and the crowd's rowdiness, the entire match was postponed. Summers defeated Mad Man Pondo in a deathmatch that was later announced on JCW, Vol. 132. 3. The two guys began working together shortly after. Summers also began every year at the annual Gathering of the Juggalos, and the company's summers quickly became a staple.

Summers went on tour with JCW to film the internet wrestling show SlamTV in 2007. Insane Clown Posse announced that the JCW Tag Team Championship had been cancelled on the first episode, prompting the formation of several tag teams. Summers aligned himself with Mad Man Pondo, and the team controlled the competition for several weeks. Nevertheless, animosity between the two teams soared as a result of miscommunication that required multiple matches for both players. The pair broke out into fist combats over the next weeks, sparking a sequence of matches between the two teams. The team reunited at "East Side Wars" later this year, establishing themselves as top candidates for the open tag team titles. The pair defeated the new JCW Tag Team Champions at Bloodymania in an 8-team elimination match. The reign was short-lived, however, as Summers agreed to a Ring of Honor deal, causing Pondo to work with several partners before losing the trophy at a live event in Cleveland, Ohio, on January 26, 2008.

At Big Ballas X-Mas Party 2009, the summers returned to Juggalo Championship Wrestling, where he teamed with Pondo to face the Thomaselli Brothers. Balls Mahoney and Hollywood Chuck Hogan's crew lost in Bloodymania IV, Summers and Pondo. The Summers and Mad Man Pondo crew defeated The Haters in a hardcore Barbed Wire, Thumbtacks, and Ladders match for their second JCW Tag Team Championship match on March 9, 2011. The pair lost their championship to Ring Rydas the following month. Butched defeated Tuff Tony to win the JCW Heavyweight Championship on October 31, 2013.

In 2006, Necro first competed in the Ring of Honor campaign for the first time. He was in charge of Chris Hero's takeover of the company, representing CZW. He appeared in many big matches, including as part of Team CZW in the Cage of Death match at Death before Dishonor IV. In a No Ropes Barbed Wire Match against B. J. Whitmer, his last appearance in ROH as a representative of CZW was his last appearance in ROH.

He returned to ROH in August 2007, as part of rookie stable The Age of the Fall with Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black, and Lacey. The three brothers were assaulted by barbed wire around his arm and fist. He was liable for the cancellation of two games later that night. He threw a chair into the ring, hitting Jack Evans while wrestling Tyler Black, and then broke up a Six Man Tag Team match after punching the referee.

Butcher won two back-to-back Anything Goes Matches against Jay Briscoe in early October 2007, as a result of the Man Up incident. Since then, Butcher has appeared in a number of high-profile 'brawling' and hardcore-style matches, including a loss to Bryan Danielson in a No Disqualification match, losing to Kevin Steen in a Street Fight, and a disqualification match to Roderick Strong for the FIP World Heavyweight Championship. Necro defeated Go Shiozaki in the FIM World Heavyweight Championship in October 25, 2008, but he and Shiozaki fell short when they clashed to a double count out. The Age of the Fall came out and assaulted Butcher after.

Necro argued with Prince Nana's heel stable The Embassy before turning heel and joining the army in their fight against Rasche Brown on May 21, 2010. Necro was defeated by Homicide in a Butcher's Rules match in his final ROH appearance before being deemed out by the promotion.

On April 9, 2006, Necro Butcher made his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut as the surprise challenger to Face Joey Ryan for the PWG World Heavyweight Championship in a No Disqualification match. Despite the weather being in his favour, Necro lost to Ryan who pinned him while pulling his tights.

Necro was present at the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, fighting in the tournament against Super Dragon in a No Count-Out, No Disqualification Match, the second night's major event. After taking Necro with the Psycho Driver, Dragon will take the trophy in an open chair. After being defeated in a special attraction eight-man tag team match against Colt Cabana, M-Dogg 20, Quicksilver, and Delirious, Necro continued to wrestle in the special attraction eight-man tag team battle against Rocky Romero and the Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli). When Quicksilver pinned Hero, Necro's team lost.

Necro was not in attendance for Giant-Size Annual #4 until July 29, 2007. He had intended to fight Kevin Steen in a Street Fight, but the Briscoe Brothers' absence resulted in a number of matches being rescheduled. Necro would now respond to Bryan Danielson's open challenge, and the two teams defeated Necro Rules, which Danielson would win.

Necro will then compete in the 2007 Battle of Los Angeles, defeating Kevin Steen with a roll-up in a first-round tournament match on September 1, only to lose to Nigel McGuinness in a second-round tournament match the next night.

Necro continued to participate in the PWG roster through the majority of 2008, joining Chris Hero to help Candice LeRae protect the Human Tornado and his allies in Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston. On January 5 with a Six-Person No Disqualification Tag Team Match that Tornado's team defeated when Kingston pinned Hero with the Back Drop Drivers, it got off the first night of All Star Weekend 6. Necro saved Candice from humiliation at Tornado's hands the next night before taking part in a Necro Rules Match against Claudio. With the O'Connr Roll, Necro will triumph.

At ¡Dia De Los Dangerous!

Necro defeated The Human Tornado in a one-night tournament match for the vacant PWG World Heavyweight Championship on February 24, 2014. Despite the fact that the game was being played under Necro Laws, Tornado defeated the opposition and went on to win the belt by the end of the night. On March 7, Necro Butcher will face Eddie Kingston in a Necro Rules Match at Scared Straight. Despite Necro's favor, Kingston will triumph once more.

On the second night of the 2008 DDT4's second night, Necro will take a break before returning to the office on May 18. Tornado was supposed to face The Human Tornado in a non-title Necro Rules match, but Tornado sustained a serious quad injury the week before. Jay Briscoe was enlisted by Tornado to play in a match that Necro eventually lost.

At It's It (What Is It?)

Necro was originally scheduled to compete with Chris Hero on June 8 in the PWG World Tag Team Championships against Roderick Strong and Jack Evans. Strong suffered from an accident the weekend before, so it was decided that the others would compete in a Three-Way Battle to determine the Number One Contender to the PWG World Heavyweight Championship. Necro will win the game, according to Hero pinning Necro.

During Wartime On July 6, Necro defeated popular Japanese comedy wrestler Kikutaro in a Necro Rules Match. When Kikutaro was knocked out as he was being kicked and buried under a pile of chairs being thrown into the ring by Necro and the fans, Necro would eventually win the "Dangerous Comedy Match." In the main tournament, where Chris Hero defeated The Human Tornado in a Steel Cage Guerrilla Warfare Match, Necro would later help keep Claudio Castagnoli from interfering.

On the first night of All Star Weekend 7 on August 30, Hero gave Necro a spot in a Four-Way Match for the PWG World Heavyweight Championship as a token of appreciation for his help. Eddie Kingston and Low Kijin were the other challengers. Necro was locked in a Dragon Sleeper submission hold, but he refused to give up, allowing Hero to successfully pin Kingston to keep the title. Necro will avenge his earlier loss to Kingston in another Necro Rules match, pinning him with a Diving Crossbody the next night.

In the 2008 Battle of Los Angeles, heroes would clash again with Necro in a non-title No Disqualification tournament match that was the first night of the first night. Through submission, the hero would gain the win. In a special attraction Nine-Way Tag Team Battle against Joey Ryan, Chuck Taylor, and Kenny Omega, as well as Austin Aries, Davey Richards, and Roderick Strong, Necro formed an unusual alliance with El Generico and Nick Jackson. The tumultuous match devolving into an impromptu brawl after nearly every one chasing Omega was knocked out and back into the venue, and Necro was eventually dismissed after Richards pinned Necro under a referee fast count. Necro smashed a chair over his head as Generico and Nick Jackson were unable to reason with the referee, retaliation.

In 2009, Necro's appearances in PWG began to decline. In a Necro Rules Match, he met Austin Aries at Express Written Consent on February 21. With a Brainbuster to start, the Aries will win with a Brainbuster in the chair. Necro will not return to Guerrilla Island until The Secret of Guerrilla Island on June 28, after losing in the main event to Joey Ryan in a Necro Rules Match. This was Necro's last appearance for the promotion as he hasn't returned since.

Butcher has also received critical acclaim for his wild brawls and "slugfests" outside of the lighttubes and barbed wire that made him his fame. Samoa Joe's first match against TNA and ROH veteran Samoa Joe at the IWA Mid-South "Something To Prove" in 2005 was certainly one of the most notable of these. Despite no weapons beyond a chair and a guardrail coming into play, the game was extremely violent and well-received by deathmatch supporters and purists alike, proving that Butcher could put on compelling matches without necessarily needing the weapons with which he was traditionally associated.

He participated in the Chikara Tag World Grand Prix 2005 with Mad Man Pondo (making it to the quarter-finals before being disqualified for unlawful conduct), as well as Chris Hero's (and winning) a European catch wrestling match with Chris Hero. He registered for the PWG World Championship on April 9, 2006, but lost to champion Joey Ryan. Many promoters have noticed Butcher's brawling abilities and have increasingly started to place him in non-deathmatch tournaments with wrestlers he would not normally be matched up against. Butcher and Samoa Joe (twice), Homicide, Roderick Strong, Christopher Hero, Super Dragon, Low Ki, and Eddie Kingston have all been matched by IWA-MS, in particular.

Butcher once competed in Chikara as part of 'Team WWF' on February 24, 2006, a parody of CM Punk (Almond Free, Acorn Free, and Better Than You), a parody of CM Punk as a large chipmunk costume with 'Chris 'Almond Free' marks (including a large Pepsi logo on his arm and tape over his fists with an 'X' drawn on his fiantagon''s in Chik (a as's'(Britis''s's''s's'''''''''''smart'''si'''''si''si''''si'si''' 'tsi''stsi'''ststsi'stststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststs'munk' vststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststststs (Al-e'stainta' as hex'sv. He was partnered by 'Colt Ca-Bunny' (a parody of Colt Cabana, Punk's tag-team member) who was dressed as a rabbit, who was actually Joker) who was partnered by the 'Colt Cabana, Punk's tag-team member). In the first round, they will face ROH students Matt Turner & Anthony Franco, but lose to Eddie Kingston & Sabian in the second round.

Butcher also competed for Full Impact Pro, where he first gained notoriety as both a brawler and as part of a hardcore tag-team with the "Mad Man" Pondo, particularly in their FIP Tag-Team Championship match against the Briscoe Brothers. Since then, he had memorable matches against Roderick Strong in a disappointing FIP World Heavyweight Championship challenge and an Anything Goes match against Delirious.

Butcher appeared in Bell Gardens, California, on September 5, 2008. In a "Dangerous Comedy Match," he met "Hollywood" Stalker Ichikawa as part of the latter's Reckless Run Series. Butcher took the lead in eighteen seconds after knocking Ichikawa out of a punch in revenge for being slapped in the chest. Ichikawa called for a prompt return, and the two teams fought a match that lasted longer than Butcher's triumph with a Necro Bomb pushed a pile of chairs.

Summers revealed that through hours of intense concentration and zen-like preparation, he had mastered the chokeslam art. He claims that no two Necro Butcher chokeslams are the same, and that even though most followers will miss the subtle differences, other experts on the move should laud his dedication and finesse.

Butcher appears on Wrecking Ball Wrestling, a Dallas, Texas based Wrecking Ball Wrestling. Dr. Knuckles, the protagonist of Skandor Akbar's men, is in conflict with him.

Butcher has also competed in the Impact Championship Wrestling in Queens, NY, where he was deposed by Maximus Sex Power in his debut.

Butcher was also the (kayfabe) Commissioner of The NJ Based Pro Wrestling Syndicate's promotion. Since 2007, Necro has appeared on television shows like Sabu, Sandman, and The Amazing Red, among others. In Jack's retirement match night two of PWS Supercard in April 2013, he met New Jack.

Pro Wrestling Syndicate's Summers' retirement match took place in Sayreville, New Jersey, on June 11, 2016, as the main event of Pro Wrestling Syndicate's Pro Wrestling Syndicate's Super Card 2016. Necro Butcher defeated Sabu, Rhino, and Devon Moore in a losing effort against Griffin Reefer and Smokey C.

In December 2018, Necro Butcher would come out of retirement to wrestle at Game Changer Wrestling's Spring Break 3 tournament on April 5, 2019. Since this, Necro Butcher has played in more matches, with two in Japan, including two death match defeats. On January 4, 2020, Necro Butcher's last match at ICW was a tense match. No holds barrered vol. 1 were defeated by SHLAK at 1 point. After the match, he symbolically passed the torch and then physically passed his "Choose Death" shirt to SHLAK. During the Killafornia 2022 protest at Pomona, Necro Butcher returned to Xtreme Pro Wrestling. During a match, a fan throws a beer bottle at him after a match, resulting in the former being kicked out.
