Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino (born February 14, 1971) is a Filipino television host, actor, product endorser, and businesswoman. Aquino, who has been dubbed the Queen of all Media, has hosted numerous talk shows and game shows, appeared in several films and television series, and is now making waves on social media. She is the youngest daughter of the Philippines's late President Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late Corazon Aquino Jr.

Benigno S. Aquino III, her brother, was the Philippines' 15th President. Her debut film appearance was in Pido Dida: Sabay Tayo, and she has appeared in horror films Feng Shui and Sukob, which was the highest-grossing Filipino film of 2006.

Early life

Kristina Bernadette Cojuangco Aquino Jr. was born in Quezon City, Philippines, to Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino Jr., who was, at the time, a Ferdinand Marcos senator. Maria Elena "Ballsy" Aquino-Cruz, former Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III, and Victoria Elisa "Viel" Aquino-Dee are among the youngest five children and her siblings. She is the niece of former Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose "Peping" Cojuangco Jr., and she has Chinese and Kapampangan ancestry. When she was a child, her father was arrested and imprisoned; her mother raised Aquino and her siblings.

At the 1978 parliamentary elections, when her imprisoned father was a candidate, the seven-year-old Aquino stood in for him at campaign rallies. On the front page of The New York Times and on the front page of Time magazine, she was featured. Aquino spent the majority of her elementary school days in the United States, where the Aquino family was exiled. Her father was assassinated on the tarmac of Manila International Airport when she was 12 years old. Kris Aquino has returned to the Philippines and attended demonstrations against the Marcos government.

The teenage Aquino began appearing on television dramas and comedies, as well as talk shows, following the removal of Ferdinand Marcos from his 21-year reign. In Pido Dida, which was a blockbuster hit, Rene Requiestas made her film debut. Aquino had a fruitful career and received an acting award for The Fatima Buen Story. The Vizconde massacre was based on a true-to-life story. Newspaper commentators gave it the nickname "Massacre Queen" due to its financial success and numerous starring appearances in crime films of the same vein.

Education

Aquino completed her elementary school education at the Poveda Learning Center (now Saint Pedro Poveda College) in Quezon City. She attended high school at the Colegio San Agustin-Makati, where she was classmates with Pinky Webb and Karen Davila.

Personal life

Aquino had a live-in relationship with actor Phillip Salvador and had their first child in 1994.

After her breakup, Aquino told comedian Joey Marquez that she had been contracted with STD, she had a huge following.

Following a controversies in 2006 regarding Yap's infidelity, Aquino married PBA professional player James Yap in a civil marriage ceremony on July 10th, 2005, and the following year she confirmed she was pregnant.

In Makati, Aquino gave birth to James Carlos "Bimby" Aquino Yap, Jr. in April 2007.

Aquino denied separating from Yap in 2010, citing personal reasons, and that she was seeking an annulment. Their marriage was null and null in February 2012.

Aquino was embroiled in another public controversy in 2018 that involved death verbal abuses from her former business manager, Nicko Falcis, as their business relationship gradually ended. This was after she filed numerous lawsuits against Falcis, the majority of which were dismissed and are now under mediation. Aquino currently has no business partner nor company manager.

Aquino confirmed her love with former politician Mel Senen Sarmiento in October 2021. But Aquino said on Instagram in January 2022 that both she and Sarmiento decided not to call it off in January 2022.

With the debut of Kris, Aquino moved to a television show host. It was produced by Viva Television on the People's Television Network. It was on GMA Network's showbiz oriented talk show Startalk, which she co-hosted with Boy Abunda and Lolit Solis, that her hosting skills attracted attention.

Kris Aquino was the first woman to work on ABS-CBN as a contract artist and was announced in a morning talk show Today. Following is a showbiz talk show The Buzz alongside Boy Abunda and Game show Game KNB? She appeared on Morning Girls with Kris and Korina from 2002 to 2004, and she was also a veteran broadcast journalist, Korina Sanchez.

Aquino took a showbiz break in 2007, leaving The Buzz and the newly formed Pilipinas Game Ka Na Ba? Edu Manzano's replacement when she gave birth to her second son, where she was recalled.

Aquino also hosted Deal or No Deal, which is part of ABS-CBN's primetime lineup, where she also appeared on the US version as part of a "around the world" celebration hosted by Howie Mandel in May 2008.

Boy & Kris, a morning talk show that eventually replaced Homeboy, was also hosted by her sister, Be Bench, along with Piolo Pascual, a model search show that also featured Piolo Pascual. Wheel of Fortune, the second television company that began with Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal, and marks her return to The Buzz in 2014.

Kris TV, a lifestyle-magazine talk show that airs on ABS-CBN, was hosted in 2011. Until Aquino officially leaving her home network for 20 years, the show ran from June 2011 to April 2016.

She appeared on The Price Is Right in 2011 as well.

Aquino began filming with Regal Films, one of the Philippines' oldest film companies, in Pido Dida (1990) and its sequals with comedian Rene Requiestas. It was her first box office queen award. Humanda Ka Mayor was later moved to dramatizations of real crime, including The Vizconde Massacre, Myrna Diones' Story, Elsa Castillo-Ang Katohanan, and Humanda Ka Mayor.

In 2002, she received her first supporting actress award for her role as the scion of a wealthy Filipino-Chinese family. So... a 2004 film. She had a blast while playing together in Eric Quizon's "Happy" movie.

Feng Shui, a Star Cinema film that featured Chinese influences and omens, is among other films. Feng Shui, which was created during the burgeoning success of "Asian-style horror" films in Africa after 2002. The Ring made P137 million. It was the highest grossing Filipino movie of the year, and the second most lucrative film overall that year, next to Spider-Man 2, which earned more than $200 million. Sukob, another horror thriller, became the highest grossing Filipino film of all time, beating Ang Tanging Ina and Anak. Vice Ganda and Ai Delas Alas in Sisterakas, a 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, appeared also.
