Kim Jae-wook Life

Kim Jae-wook (born April 2, 1983) is a South Korean model and actor.

He is best known for his appearances in the hit series Coffee Prince (2004), comedy film Antique (2008), and mystery thriller Who Are You? The Guest (2018), and Her Private Life (2019).

Early life

Kim was born in Seoul and grew up in Tokyo, Japan, until he was seven years old before returning to South Korea. His father served as a reporter and was sent to Japan as a foreign correspondent. He began playing in a band and then started modelling when he was 17 years old. He can speak fluent Japanese thanks to his time in Japan.

Personal life

He co-authored Top Model, a book based on their experiences in the industry, in May 2011. After five weeks of basic military service, he was then enrolled for mandatory military service for 21 months of active service on July 5, 2011. Kim signed a long-term deal with management company Better ENT in June 2015. In June 2017, he left Better ENT and joined a new management firm called Team SOOP.

In 2002, Jae-wook debuted as the lead of an indie band in MBC's "Ruler of Your Own World." He concentrated on his modeling work for five years after this first job. In 2007, he auditioned for and received the role of No Sun-ki in the hit comedy series Coffee Prince. In both South Korea and other Asian nations, the actor rose to prominence. He appeared in the 2008 drama The Kingdom of The Winds and served as the ambassador of goodwill for the 9th Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) in May 2008.

Kim appeared in his first film, Antique, based on the manga Antique Bakery, which was screened at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival. He worked as a gay chef in a bakery. At the 16th Korean Entertainment Awards, he received the Best New Actor award. He formed Walrus, a modern rock band, in which he performed as both guitarist and singer. The group's name derives from the Beatles' "I am the Walrus."

Kim was first to be cast in Bee TV's South Korean-Japanese drama Give Me Your Memory: Pygmalion's Love, which premiered in March 2010. He appeared in the melodrama television series Bad Guy and appeared in the romantic comedy series Marry Me, Mary the same year.

He appeared in Hedwig And the Angry Inch from May 14 to June 19, 2011, before enlisting in military service in 2011.

Kim made his comeback in 2013's television series Who Are You? portraying So Yi-hyun's character's deceased boyfriend. Kim Hyun-joong was on television's period action drama Inspiring Generation as Kim Hyun-joong's rival, but he resigned after episode 8 due to unavoidable circumstances.

Kim was selected for the lead role in Plank Constant's fantasy comedy film in 2015, playing a script writer with strange sexual fantasies.

Kim played Princess Deokhye, a Japanese nobleman who marries Son Ye-jin's character in the period film The Last Princess. Kim appeared in two Rooms, Two Nights, as a leading film producer who struggles to keep intimate relationships with both his current girl friend and ex-girl friend.

Kim starred in Another Way (2017), playing the role of a police officer who discovers Seo Yea-ji's online character and creates a suicide alliance. He appeared as the villain in OCN's hit thriller drama Voice, receiving acclaim for his performance as a serial murderer. Kim was cast as a wealthy businessman in the July-to-Love romance drama.

Kim was cast in the musical Amadeus in triple casting in 2018, as well as Jo Jung-suk and Kim Sung-kyu. In May 2018, Kim's Japanese film Butterfly Sleep was released in Japan. He was cast in OCN's supernatural thriller The Guest in the same year.

Kim was the main protagonist in the romantic comedy drama Her Private Life alongside Park Min-young in 2019. Kim's first appearance in a romantic comedy is on this program.

Kim created "My Margiela," a 5-episode video film based on Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela.

Kim stars in KBS2's hit series Crazy Love in 2022, as a maths instructor and CEO of a top math school.
