Alfonso Herrera Rodra (Spanish pronunciation: alfonso erea] was born in 1983 and is a Mexican actor and former singer.

Herrera, who was born in Mexico City, made his television debut in Clase 406 in 2002. He made his film debut in Amar te duele and received a MTV Movie Awards Mexico in the same year. Miguel Arango, the protagonist of the Mexican telenovela Rebelde (2004–2009), he rose to international prominence in 2004 as the protagonist in the Mexican telenovela Rebelde, which spanned the pop musical group RBD (2004–09). Herrera, one of the six leading singers in Latin America, USA, and Europe, was nominated twice to the Latin Grammy Award and has sold more than ten million albums worldwide. In 2009, he appeared in the Venezuelan film Venezzia, the Mexican film Mujeres Asesinas, and the Mexican telenovela Camaleones.

Herrera played the lead role in the political satire comedy film The Perfect Dictatorship in 2014. In the American drama series Sense8 on Netflix, he subtlely portrayed art lecturer Hernando Fuentes, actor Lito Rodriguez's mysterious boyfriend. On the American horror film The Exorcist (2016–17), he played Father Tomas. He co-starred in Queen of the South, an American drama series (2018-2019). In Dance of the 41 (2020), Herrera portrayed Ignacio de la Torre y Mier and received acclaim for his performance, winning the Ariel Award for Best Actor. Javi Elizondro, a cartel lieutenant, appeared in the final season of Netflix's crime drama series Ozark in 2022.

Early life

Alfonso Herrera Rodrera Rodrez was born in Mexico City. Alejandro's older brother and Oscar's younger brother. He attended the Edron Academy, co-el Garca Bernal and Ximena Sari, and graduated in 2002. Herrera had aspired to become a pilot and was planning to enroll in an aviation academy in San Antonio, Texas. He changed his mind and signed up for Centro de Educación Artstica, a Latin American media behemoth. Televisa's president canceled his enrollment.

Personal life

Herrera started dating actress and singer Dulce Mara in 2002; they met during the filming of the soap opera Clase 406, and the friendship ended in 2005.

He married journalist Diana Vázquez in 2016. They have two sons. In 2021, the couple wed.

Career

Herrera began acting professionally in theater after graduating at the Centro de Educación Artistica. Como matar a un ruise (2001) and Antigona (2001), he appeared in Las Brujas de Salem (2001).

He was in the film Amar te duele, directed by Fernando Sariyana, and from there, he was active in the telenovela Clase 406, alongside Dulce Mara, Anah, and Christian Chávez, who later became his bandmates in RBD. Herrera appeared in the soap opera Clase 406, and he appeared in the songs "De Donde Vienes... A Donde Vas..." together with the cast. "Corazón de ngel," "Por Ti," "Shala La La" and "Grito" from the album Clase 406 - El Siguiente Paso... (2003).

In 2004, he appeared in the Mexican series "Tres Lágrimas" of Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real, and was cast as one of the main protagonists in Rebelde, a Mexican adaptation of the hit Argentine novela Rebelde Way. Herrera played Miguel Arango, a boy who went to Mexico City to revenge his father's death. Rebelde debuted around the world and had over 400 episodes from 2004 to 2006.

Televisa released RBD: La Familia, which starred the members of RBD, following the success of Rebelde in 2007. The characters of the sitcom were not based on the band's characters in Rebelde, but they were supposed to be similar to the actors' real personalities. RBD: La Familia was the first Mexican show shot entirely in High Definition. From March 14, 2007 to June 13, 2007, the series ran for 13 episodes.

Volverte a Ver with Ximena Herrera began filming in 2007. In December 2008, it was announced. The film was shot in Mexico and Argentina. He appeared in The Pillowman in 2008, swapping actor Kuno Becker for actor Kuno Becker. RBD has released nine studio albums, including ones in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. They have performed in over 15 million albums around the world, south America, Serbia, Romania, Romania, Romania, the United States, and Spain.

Poncho created the song "Si No Estas Aqui" on the Mexican band RBD's fifth studio album, Empezar Desde Cero (2007). RBD sent a note to fans that they had to break up on August 15, 2008. Herrera performed Sebastián, a man who pretends to be a scholar and steals expensive artwork in order to protect his imprisoned father. He appeared in "Soledad, Cautiva" with his Rebelde co-star Angelique Boyer on August 6, 2009.

Poncho appeared in the episode "El Billete" in 2009. Herrera also worked with Plutaco Haza, Paola Nez, Sergio Klainer, Guillermo Larrea, Jana Raluy, and Ral Vallejo on the Spanish version of Rain Man, also known in Spanish as Cuando los hermanos se encuentran.

Herrera has also introduced new projects since Rain Man. Fermn Pérez, a federal policeman, appeared in Pedro Torres' television series El Equipo, in which he played a federal policeman. This series has been compared to the television show CSI, and it has been broadcast in Mexico as well as the United States. Alfonso is currently filming El Diez, in which he will portray a soccer player named 'Chava Espinoza'. This series will be broadcast on ESPN Deportes, which is also available in Latin Americas. As es la Suerte premiered on August 19, 2011. In the Mexican series El Encanto del guila (2011), he appeared as Aquiles Serdán, the revolutionary.

Herrera starred in the Mexican horror film Espectro in 2013. Nio Malo, the Colombian actor starring in the series, was nominated for the TVyNovelas Award for best supporting actor in the series and appeared in the Mexican film Perfect Occurence. In 2014, he was still the protagonist of The Unconstitutional Dictatorship.

He appeared in the Netflix original series Sense8 (2015–18), where he appeared as Hernando Fuentes, Lito Rodriguez's boyfriend, played by Miguel ngel Silvestre. They are a gay couple who are reluctant to reveal their personal information due to the fact that Lito is a well-known Mexican movie star. Hernando and Lito's struggled to move forward after being told that his information is out. He appeared in the Mexican film El Dandy in 2015. In the film The Chosen, Herrera introduced Ramón Mercader in 2016.

In the Mexican-Spanish drama The Chosen (2016), Ramón Mercader played Ramón Mercader. Herrera appeared in two episodes of Drunk History, played Che Guevara, and then reprised the role of Aquiles Serdán from 2016 to 2017. Father Tomas appeared in Fox's American horror film The Exorcist (2016–2017). He appeared in the third season of the American series Queen of the South (2018) and in the fourth season joined him and the Brazilian actress Alice Braga. In 2019, Leon played Leon in the Mexican series Sitiados: México.

In 2020, he appeared in "Romcom" in the Mexican series How to Survive Being Single by Amazon Prime Video. Herrera appeared in David Pablos' Dance of the 41, portraying Ignacio de la Torre, the President of Mexico's gay son-in-law. He received the Ariel Award for his performance Dance of the 41.
