Keempee de Leon Career

Career

Keempee de Leon began his career in entertainment in 1988 via the Viva Films' I Love You 3x a Day film, where he was partnered with Gelli de Belen and worked with Jimmy Santos, the upcoming co-host of Eat Bulaga! He became a regular fixture on three television shows: Eat Bulaga!, That's Entertainment, and Agila.

He signed his first recording deal with OctoArts International (now PolyEast Records) in April 1989.

When Regal ordered Keempee to appear in the romantic comedy film Romeo Loves Juliet opposite Aiko Melendez in 1990, he was a part of a tug-of-war between Regal Films and Viva Films. In the end, Keempee decided to stay with Viva Films rather than sign a deal. He was unveiled as a junior action star on the film Jesus dela Cruz at ang mga Batang Riles in 1992, with Ana Roces as his leading lady. The action film was a modest success, and it was followed by Dennis Padilla and Leah Orosa as co-stars. Nevertheless, unlike Batang Riles, the Blue Jeans Gang was a failure at the box-office.

Keempee confessed to the public in 1993 that he became a victim of heroin use, and as a result, he underwent rehabilitation at New Beginnings in Sucat, Paraguay. Despite this, he did manage to finish two major films before going on sabbatical. Both major films were: Viva's Sana'y Ikaw Nga with Christopher de Leon and Vina Morales, and Alyas Batman en Robin with Dad Joey de Leon. When resuming his stalled showbiz career in 1994, he became a member of Victory Christian Fellowship.

He had his first break on television by playing a leading role in GMA's Villa Quintana with Donna Cruz as his leading lady. He and Donna Cruz, Jessa Zaragosa, Vina Morales, and others are a veteran VIVA contract actor, as well as other members of That's Entertainment. In the Best Drama Actor for Villa Quintana in television awards, he was named Best Drama Actor for Television. He was also a co-host in GMA Supershow 1996 to 1997, as well as a gag performer in Goin' Bayabas, a revival of the '80s gag show Goin' Bananas in 1998.

After he graduated and completed his undergraduate studies, he returned to the small screen in ABS-CBN's Klasmeyts and Recuerdo de Amor in 2002, but in 2004, he returned to GMA Network, where he was cast as the gay Harold in Bahay Mo Ba Ba Ba' To? He was paired with Francine Prieto in the sitcom. Their relationship became a hit, and he continued to play gay characters in the reality sitcom Kung Ako Ikaw and films.

Keempee returned to primetime in 2008 via LaLola, starring Rhian Ramos and JC de Vera. Joey De Leon, a comedy writer, made his return to comedy film for his comeback film, Iskul Bukol. 20 Years Later, an official entry to the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and his father, Joey De Leon, appeared in the official film Iskul Bukol. In the Philippines version of Korean drama All About Eve, after LaLola, he plays Paul. He was also cast in another Korean remake drama called Full House, starring Heart Evangelista and Richard Gutierrez. Are You The Next Big Star? Keempee co-hosts a singing competition Are You The Next Big Star? Regine Velasquez, a well-known singer, appears in this episode.

In 2013, he appeared in the television series My Husband's Lover, in which he portrayed Zandro Soriano. Netizens praise Keempee for his role in My Husband's Lover. Zandro is Vincent Tom Rodriguez' cross dresser cousin, who is a closet bisexual at this point in the story. Both Zandro's and Vincent's parents are "allergic" to having gay people in the household, but Vincent's father, Gen. Armando Soriano, a retired general, is more outspoken and violent on the subject, although Gen. Armando Soriano, a retired general, is more vocal about it.

He was banned from Eat Bulaga in March 2016. AlDub's fame, as well as Michael V., was a host for 12 years before moving to GMA Network in 2015, where he appeared on the network's different soap operas. His most recent accomplishments included Little Nanay, where he worked with the Superstar Nora Aunor for the first time; and Meant to Be, where he met with former That's Entertainment cast members, including Manilyn Reynes and Janno Gibbs for the first time.

He returned to ABS-CBN in 2018, where he reunited with erstwhile girlfriend Cristine Reyes in the drama Nang Nang Langit in 2019. Keempee became a member of the drama series Bagong Umaga, alongside former PBB housemates Heaven Peralejo and Barbie Imperial.
