Marvin Jay Marquez Cuyugan, better known by his stage name, Marvin Agustin (born January 29, 1979) is a Filipino actor, cook, and entrepreneur.

Early Life

Agustin is the youngest and the sole male child of Theresa and Danilo Cuyugan, and he has two older sisters. He learned by his mother's example.

In the hopes of qualifying for the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, Agustin practiced archery.

Television career

Agustin is one of the Star Magic artists of the 1990s. He began his television career in 1996 aboard ABS-CBN's youth-oriented show Gimik and was matched with singer-actress Jolina Magdangal. He was also selected to be one of the lead casts of soap opera Esperanza and miniseries Sa Sandaling Mo Ako. He was paired with Magdangal once more, and the pair became the protagonists of soap opera Labs Ko Si Babe, the first Philippine romantic-comedy film.

After Labs Ko si Babe died in 2000, he became a member of Whattamen, along with his closest friends Dominic Ochoa and Rico Yan. Willie Revillame was the replacement hosts for the threesome in the defunct noontime television show Magandang Tanghali Bayan from 2001 to 2003. They were selected to star in Whattamen, which was released in 2001. Even though Yan passed away on 2002, it continued until 2004. In 2005, his life story was chronicled in drama anthology Maala Mo Kaya on one of its episodes.

Agustin received his first television and film acting awards for his role as Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao in Magpakailanman in 2004's 1st Golden Screen Entertainment TV Awards and as a troubled psycho Lemuel in 2005's horror-thriller Kutob.

It was discovered that Agustin had moved to GMA Network on 2005. Through I Luv NY, his loveteam with Jolina Magdangal returned to television. He appeared in Asian Treasures in 2007 and gained another villain role in the Filipino version of Marimar, and was also cast in the Philippine version of "The Secret Son of Zeus."

In Mga Mata ni Anghelita, he was a hunchback Gabriel. He was in the cast of Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita for a time, and he has appeared in LaLola as one of the villains.

In addition, Agustin hosted a musical variety show on GMA Network in SOP Rules and a youth-focused drama anthology. Dear Friend and Courageous hosted a comedy informative program. He stars in the drama miniseries SRO Cinemaserye: Ganti Ng Puso.

Agustin appeared in the romantic-comedy film Adik Sa'Yo and recently appeared as Lando in a drama mini-series Tinik Sa Dibdib and appeared in Panday Kids, in which he plays "Lizardo," a Panday Kid villain. Agustin was the host of the variety show Party Pilipinas and was also a former actor of the cast in Pilyang Kerubin.

In October 2010, Agustin appeared in a series of GMA Network, Beauty Queen. In 2011, Agustin appeared in a drama series Iglot on GMA, but as of 2012, he then transferred to TV5 as a result of 2012.

He and Jolina Magdangal returned to ABS-CBN in 2014 along with Jolina Magdangal. Maala Mo Kaya's last appearance on the network is his last on the network. Agustin briefly returned to GMA Network three years later via his drama series Kambal, Karibal (originally titled Santa Santita).

Cooking and business career

Agustin attended the International School of Culinary Arts and Hotel Administration (ISM), a restauranteur who specializes in Japanese-American modern cuisine. As well as the Cafe Ten Titas restaurant, John and Yoko co-own a Japanese restaurant called John and Yoko.

He also owns Futuretainment Inc. (portmanteau of future and entertainment), a company that specializes in the production of concerts and events. Kanta Pilipinas, a television recording competition, made the company debut in television content production last year.
