Film career

Taslim is known as a model and actor, appearing in magazines, TV commercials, and several Indonesian feature films.

Taslim deferred from judo in his late 20s to pursue acting.

After a series of fight auditions and reading, he won the role of Jaka, a sergeant in a special police squad in the award-winning The Raid in 2010.

Following The Raid, Taslim appeared in HBO Asia's first action horror film, Dead Mine, which had a theatrical release in select Asian markets in September 2012, followed by exclusive television premieres across the HBO Asia network.

Taslim appeared in the film Fast & Furious 6 (2013) as the villainous Jah, a mercenary who uses his martial arts to combat two of the film's protagonists, Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) and Han Seoul-Oh (Sung Kang).

Taslim would appear in the action thriller The Night Comes for Us, which was announced in May 2013. Pre-production of the film was suspended in September 2014, and the script was instead adapted as a graphic novel. On October 19, 2018, Netflix officially announced the film on October 19th.

Manas, a former first officer of Captain Balthazar Edison (played by Idris Elba), Anderson Levy, became an alien in Star Trek Beyond in 2016.

In 2017, Taslim was cast in the role of Li Yong in the Cinemax action film Warrior. He was Li Yong, a Long Zii enforcer and a covertly Mai Ling's lover. In Warrior, Ah Sahm's rival is also a man. On April 5, 2019, the series premiered.

In the Mortal Kombat relaunch, Taslim was cast as Sub-Zero in July 2019. In theaters and on HBO Max, the film premiered in April 2021.
