Scott David Mechlowicz (born January 17, 1981) is an American actor.

Mechlowicz began his career in 2003 and is best known for his lead role in EuroTrip.

Early life and education

Mechlowicz was born in New York City, the son of Susan (Lehrman), a respiratory therapist), and Morris Mechlowicz. M. Steven Neal, he has one brother. He was raised in a tight-knit Jewish family. He grew up in Plano, Texas, where he graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1999 and attended University of Texas at Austin for one semester. He migrated to Los Angeles, California, where he studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, and graduated from the Conservatory Acting Program in 2003.

Career

Mechlowicz made his film debut in the EuroTrip teen comedy. He appeared in Mean Creek, a 2003 independent film that was shot in 2003 but not released until August 20, 2004.

Mechlowicz played the oldest of a group of teenagers in the film, which was a sad teenage tragedy. The film received a warm critical response. He was given the Independent Spirit Award for his his work in Mean Creek. In 2004, he made a brief appearance in Gavin Degraw's film "I Don't Want to Be," in which he portrays Shiri Appleby's romantic interest. In addition, Mechlowicz guest appeared in a season one episode of House.

Mechlowicz appeared in the film Way of the Peaceful Warrior, in which he plays Dan Millman, a rings gymnast who is an olympic hopeful, also starred opposite Nick Nolte and Amy Smart. The story is based on the life of the book's author. Amelia Warner co-starred in his next film, thriller Gone, which was released in 2005 and released in 2007. Mechlowicz appeared in two films, Waiting for Forever, co-starring Rachel Bilson, Blythe Danner, Richard Jenkins, and Tom Sturridge, and the dark suspense thriller Undocumented starring Mechlowicz and Peter Stormare.

Cat Run opened in theaters on April 1, 2011, starring Mechlowicz, Paz Vega, and Janet McTeer. Eden premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, in March 2012. Based on a true story, Mechlowicz converted young girls into a sex trafficking contest in Eden. Beau Bridges and Jamie Chung were filmed by Megan Griffiths, the Eden costars.
