Kim Rae-won Life

Kim Rae-won (born 19 March 1981) is a South Korean actor.

He rose to fame with the 2003 romantic comedy series Cats on the Roof, and his appearances in My Little Bride (2004), Love Story in Harvard (2004), A Thousand Days' Promise (2011), Punch (2014–2015) and Doctors (2016).

Personal life

Kim was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with a waitress in a Bar in Gangnam, Seoul, where he and his waitress, Bless Entertainment, were intoxicated on Sunday. He denied his participation in a verbal squabble between the woman and an agency rep, and then released a public apology regarding the incident.

Kim has long believed to come from a wealthy family, which he denied in a guest appearance on talk show Healing Camp on January 14, 2013. However, he confirmed that he did inherit an apartment unit during middle school as well as a significant amount of money from his grandmother.

Kim is a Roman Catholic believer.

Kim Rae-won started aspiring to be a professional basketball player, but when an ankle tendon broke that childhood dream, he turned to acting and film at Chung-Ang University. He made his acting debut in Me, the 1997 teen drama, as a newbie at his high school's broadcasting club. School 2 (1999), another teen drama, and Plum Blossom (2000), were followed by two coming-of-age films.

Kim rose to fame in 2002 after appearing in My Love Patzzi, a romance comedy drama. In 2003, his fame as a law student slacker who cohabitates with a girl (Jeong Da-bin) in the famous romance series Cats on the Roof soared. He then starred in My Little Bride, a romantic comedy film in which a college graduate is forced to marry a high school girl (Moon Geun-young). My Little Bride became a sleeper hit and was the second top-grossing Korean film of 2004.

In dramas including Snowman (2003), Love Story in Harvard (2004), and Which Star Are You From (2006), Kim continued to portray romantic heroes on television. But on the big screen, he concentrated on the darker, more masculine farewell. In Mr. Socrates (2005), a former gangster trying to turn over a new leaf in Sunflower (2005), and an antihero art restorer in Insadong Scandal (2009).

Kim portrayed an elementary school teacher who falls for a Korean-Japanese jewelry designer (Mirai Yamamoto) in the Japanese film Flower Shadow (, Hanakage). In Gourmet, a hit series based on Huh Youngman's manhwa Sikgaek, he appeared later this year.

Kim Soo-hyun, a well-known television screenwriter, delves into the melodrama genre in A Thousand Days' Promise (2011). Kim wowed the audience with his portrayal of a character torn between the longtime girlfriend who his parents endorse and the woman who suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Kim played a cynical music producer who "discovers" a teenage boy in an audition competition in the 2012 film My Little Hero (award-winning worldwide). He appeared in Punch, a 2014 legal thriller in which he wowed audiences with his portrayal of a prosecutor with a terminal illness and decides to use his remaining six months to bring down the corrupt officials within the legal system.

This was followed by Gangnam Blues, a 2015 noir action film directed by Yoo Ha about the seedy underbelly behind Gangnam's rapid real estate growth in the 1970s. Kim lost 15 kilograms to make his role as a fist-fighting gangster more realistic. He made his small-screen comeback in SBS's medical drama Doctors opposite Park Shin-hye. During its 10-week broadcast, the drama dominated viewership ratings and popularity charts. Kim followed Doctors on a surge in fame and commercial offers.

Kim appeared in the crime drama The Prisoner with Han Suk-kyu in 2017, portraying a former detective behind bars. The film became a surprise hit at the box office and received critical acclaim; and Kim was praised for his realistic portrayal of action scenes. Kim next appeared in a mystery thriller film RV: Resurrested Victims by Kwak Kyung-taek Kim made his television debut in fantasy romance drama Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me in the same year.

Kim was cast in the action film Long Live The King alongside Won Jin-ah, based on a webtoon of the same name. Kim will play both a mob boss and a politician. Kim was also cast in the romantic comedy film Crazy Romance in 2019 alongside Snowman co-star Gong Hyo-jin.

HB Entertainment's deal came to an end in July 2021, and Kim decided not to renew it.

Kim returns to the small screen with SBS' The First Responders, his first terrestrial television show since 2016. Kim founded the Whale Company, which Kim founded as a sole company in April 2022.
