Vartiainen completed her matriculation examination at the Senior High School in 2002 and then moved to Helsinki. Jenni Vartiainen Career

Career

Vartiainen made popstars in the fall of 2002. When interviewed by the magazine City in October 2007, she said she was not actively participating in the competition and that it was a "half chance" that led to her "finding herself." Susanna Korvala and Jonna Pirinen won the competition in October and the quartet formed the band Gimmel, alongside Ushma Karnani (currently Olava), Susanna Korvala, and Jonna Pirinen. Jonna Pirinen, on the other hand, left the band after two weeks. In 2002, Gimmel's debut single "Etsit muijaa seuraavaa" sold gold, securing a top-selling single in Finland for the first time. Lentoon, the band's debut album, debuted at number one on the Albums Chart, sold multi-platinum with over 98,000 copies, and was Finland's best-selling album of 2002. The band won three Emma Awards in 2003: for New Pop/Rock Artist of the Year, Debut Album of the Year, and Best-Selling Album of the Year. Kaksi kertaa enemmän (2004), the second album on the charts, debuted at number two on the charts and sold platinum with over 50,000 copies, but Pisaroita ja kyyneletä (2004), debuting at number three, charted for only six weeks and did not exceed the gold standard. Vartiainen studied psychology at an open university during the Gimmel period. Risto Asikainen, the band's producer, said in a 2007 interview with City, that the trio would not be allowed inside so that "they would not be bossing around." Vartiainen said the decision was correct, saying that "three different girls have so many different viewpoints" and that they were "newbies who had no idea about anything." Vartiainen also characterized Gimmel as "a face to another person's project," implying that they were unable to concentrate on the article because they didn't have time for it. Vartiainen said in an interview with Me Naiset in August 2010, "how it feels when records don't sell and there are only ten people at a gig," she said, "an artist must develop all the time and work like a maniac."

Vartiainen signed a record deal with Warner Music Finland in 2005. Vartiainen's debut album together with producer Jukka Immonen took so long that Vartiainen ran out of money, causing her to search for cleaning jobs at Warner studios and then work as a consultant handling consumer complaints. Vartiainen's first solo album "Tunnoton" was released in April 2007 and the debut album Ihmisten edessä was released in September 2007. The album brought two later singles, "Ihmisten edessä" and "Mustaa kahvia," of which "Ihmisten edessä" (which was the most popular hit on the Singles Chart and selling gold with over 16,000 copies, peaking at number two on the Singles Chart and selling gold with over 16,000 copies. Her debut album went on to gain the Finnish double-platinum award, despite selling over 61,000 copies and peaking at number six on the Albums Chart. Vartiainen appeared on the magazine front of the Finnish Cosmopolitan and the Mexican Cosmopolitan's March 2008 issue. Vartiainen was named in the 2008 Emma Awards for Best Debut Album of the Year and Song of the Year with Ihmisten edessä and its title track, and the album was also nominated for Pop Album of the Year.

Vartiainen's second album Seili was released in March 2010 and charted for 62 non-consecutive weeks on the Albums Chart, with 15 weeks on top and over 150,000 copies (multi-platinum), making it Finland's highest-selling album of all time with sales of 95,000 copies and the 14th-best-selling of all time. "En haluu tänä yönä," "Nettiin" and "Missä muruseni on" and two promotional singles, "Duran Duran" and "Eikö kukaan voi meitä pelastaa" were among three singles from Seili, "En haluu tänä yönä," were among the three singles, as well as two promotional singles, "British aku "En haluu yönä" and "Missä muruseni on" were both platinum with over 11,000 copies and 18,000 copies, respectively, while "Duran Duran" sold gold with over 5,400 copies. "Missä muruseni on" was the album's best chart hit from the start of the year and remained a top for 11 weeks in 2010 and 2011. Vartiainen received a record-breaking seven Emma Awards in February 2011, on the one hand for its vocals and blend of pop and dark piano ballads, and on the other hand, for a lack of particularity, the album and its singles received Vartiainen a record-breaking seven Emma Awards; "En haluu tänä yönä") and Music Video of the Year ("Misseni on") received Varti Jukka Immonen, her producer, also received the Award for Producer of the Year. In an interview with Seili, she said that "the way music starts to live its entirely own life in the audience after being produced." Vartiainen was also selected for Best Finnish Act at the 2010 MTV Europe Music Awards. In the spring of 2011, she debunked some tabloid rumors that she would have cancelled interviews due to overwhelm and exhaustion. In May 2011, she declared that she would take a long break after her forthcoming summer shows to rest and prepare for a new album. Vartiainen's last performance before the break took place on the Main Stage at Helsinki's Helsinki National Theatre on August 28, with the novelty that the event was broadcast live at Finnkino film theaters in 11 other localities around Finland for the first time in history. Within a few hours, the tickets to the concert were sold out. The concert in Lahti and Kuopio could not be broadcast due to technological difficulties. Vartiainen said in an interview with Iskelmä on August 2011 that she planned to spend her touring time by graduating as a singing coach by August 2012—something she did not do in May 2013. Vartiainen had intended to appear briefly at a fundraising concert for Pekka Haavisto's presidential bid, but she was forced to cancel due to high fever and gastroenteritis.

Vartiainen would debut her third studio album, Terra, on October 4, 2013, followed by its lead single "Junat ja naiset" on August 16th. The lead single peaked at number 15, and the album debuted at number one on the Official Finnish Charts, peaking at number 15.
