Jeff Gutt Career

Early life and career

Gutt's family lived in St. Clair County, southeast Michigan, for the majority of his childhood. He attended schools in both Algonac and Marine City, graduating from Marine City High School in 1994.

Innerfaith, Gutt's most popular band during his high school days, was also known as Innerfaith. He was the frontman of Innerfaith, which he formed with colleagues Matt Brooks on bass, Jeff Sankuer on drums, and guitarist Patrick Sankuer. Innerfaith wrote and performed original songs, eventually winning the "Blue Water Battle of the Bands" in Marysville, Michigan.

Two early extended plays starring Gutt on vocals were made downloadable for free on his official website in 2012: a three-track Nautical Star cover story (1998) and a four-track Dragonfly (1997). The latter was recorded by Gutt with the band of the same name, which also featured Steve Mazur of Our Lady Peace on guitar. Later, lyrics from the Dragonfly song "Sugarpill" were used in a Dry Cell song "New Revolution."

Gutt became the lead vocalist for Dry Cell after joining the rock band Beyond Control, which included Danny Hartwell, Judd Gruenbaum, and Brandon Brown. In 2002, the band recorded Disconnected, a studio album. Gutt left the band in 2004 and Dave Wasierski took over as lead vocalist. In 2005, Gutt returned to Dry Cells.

The band went on a brief hiatus from 2005 to 2007, but in 2008 the group reunited with the same people. Gutt left Dry Cell for good in 2009.

The Dry Cell Collection, a compilation, was published in early 2010. It includes previously released demos from 2003, 2005, and 2008, B-sides from Disconnected, as well as one previously unreleased song, "So Alive." The band had no updates on their MySpace page since 2010. On Gutt's official website in 2012, it was announced that Dry Cell is now defunct.

Gutt released eight demo songs with the band Acrylic after parting ways with Dry Cell in 2004.

Gutt and his buddy, guitarist Gary Pittel, formed Band with No Name in 2005 (abbreviated as BWNN). Aaron Hutchinson (drums), Justin "Antic" Hackman (keyboards), Mike Guy, and later Ben Lula (bass). BWNN unveiled a five-track self-titled EP in 2007. They won the 89X & TNT Battle of the Bands in Michigan in 2008 and received $10,000 and studio time to record a new EP. In 2009, seven new songs were released, and Humanity, a full-length collection, was released. It was re-released on iTunes under Gutt's name on iTunes in 2013 and featured the song "Stay," which was previously unknown as the album's B-side.

Punch, Gutt, Pittel, and Hutchinson will appear live as a cover band.

Gutt appears on Solystic's "Carry On", "Open Letter," and "Almost Dead."

Gutt announced members of his new alternative rock band Rival City Heights in January 2014: Gary Pittel (guitar), ex-Dry Cell bandmate Brandon Brown (drums), Cyamak Ashtiani (guitar), and KC Jenkins (bass).

Rival City Heights appeared at the Masonic Temple in Detroit on May 3, 2014.

Gutt unveiled "A Detroit Christmas" as a solo artist in December 2014.

Rival City Heights toured the Middle East (Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, Lebanon), and India in late 2015 as part of the Princess Alia Foundation.

Rival City Heights' debut single "Take It Back" was released on February 19, 2016, and we went on tour with Trapt to promote it from February to March 2016. Brandon Brown left the band early and was replaced with Evanescence's Will Hunt on drums. Gary Pittel and Cyamak Ashtiani had left the band, Gene Lenardo (ex-Filter, Device), and Rival City Heights had been renamed to Rival City.

"Fading Out / What's Going On" a double single produced by Kevin Churko, was released on October 31, 2016.
