Early life
Leung Pik-chi () was born in Sai Ying Pun on March 25th, 1976; she was born at Tsan Yuk Hospital in Sai Ying Pun; as a child, Leung Pik-chi () suffered from frequent asthma attacks, and a change of name was expected to promote better health; as an infant, she suffered from frequent asthma attacks, and it was hoped that a change in name would bring greater health. Leung, who stands at 176 cm, earned the nickname of 'Total Girl.' Keith Leung Wing-chun is her twin brother (Leung Wing-chun, ).
Gigi Leung went to Maryknoll Convent School. She later enrolled at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she received a diploma from the School of Design. During her undergraduate studies, she accepted a modelling job from City Chain and attracted the attention of film director Lee Chi-ngay, who starred her in her very first film, Doctor Mack (1995). The film's success gave her a second appearance in Full Throttle (1995), a film shot while she was still finishing her diploma. Leung received a Best Newcomer award at the 1995 Hong Kong Film Awards for her supporting role in the film.

She was reported to be in a relationship with a furniture designer from France named solely as Sly. Neither Gigi nor Sly confirmed their marriage, but it was announced that the couple separated in early 2010.
Leung married Sergio Crespo Gutes (former basketball player and executive with Nestle HK) on the island of Ibiza on October 3rd. Leung gave birth to her first child, Sofia Crespo Leung (), on February 28, 2015.
The Sina microblog of Gigi Leung has gained 470,000 followers, the bulk of which are her teenage followers. On the 30th of March 2010, she wrote about the plight of the imprisoned Zhao Lianhai, whose five-year-old son died as a result of poisonous milk and kidney stones. The father-turned-activist began to protest his inconveniences using various means. Gigi Leung's website's administrator notified her that she had received a note from her followers and subsequently deleted the relevant blog, resulting in hundreds of cheers from her followers.
Career
With the debut album Love Myself (1996), her singing career began the following year. Since then, she has performed both Cantonese and Mandarin songs. She is best known as a Cantopop/Mandopop singer, but also as a writer and lyricist, having written songs for both herself and other local artists. She has a deal with Warner Music Hong Kong and has more than a dozen albums to her name. She has appeared in numerous full-scale live concerts, one of which was titled Funny Face in 2003.
She signed a deal with Big Artiste Management, Mei Ah Entertainment's affiliate, on March 25.
