Denise and Richard Lee's parents were born in Colts Neck, New Jersey, and Lee was born in Colts Neck, New Jersey. She attended Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, and she has two siblings, Nicole, an older sister, and Richie, a younger brother who attends Cedar Drive Middle School. She has ancestry from Italy.
Career
Lee sang Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" at the blind auditions on September 24, 2013, convincing Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton to abandon their chairs. Lee opted Aguilera and stayed on her team the entire season. Lee was paired with Briana Cuoco in the Battle rounds, where they performed "House of the Rising Sun" and advanced. Lee sang "Stompa" by Serena Ryder against Anthony Paul and Christina chose her to advance to the Live Playoffs, sending Paul home. Lee continued to perform in the Live Rounds and the Top Five for her Studio Version of "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan, which received an iTunes reward for reaching the top ten overall songs. Lee received an iTunes reward for reaching the No. 1 in the Finals. "I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" by Jennifer Holliday on her album "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going to" she is ranked 9nd in the Jennifer Holliday song "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going to Go." On December 17, 2013, she was announced in second place behind champion Tessanne Chin.
Lee was signed to Lyor Cohen's Label, 300 Entertainment, in collaboration with Atlantic Records following the show. On May 13, 2014, she performed her debut single, "Broken Ones," on the top five results of season 6 of The Voice. This was the first time the song was performed live and it was her first return to the stage after being a contestant. The song was released on iTunes the same day. Dana Parish and Andy Hollander wrote it. Despite the fact that the album did not make it to the Billboard Hot 100, it did manage to reach number 36 on the Pop Digital Songs chart.
Lee was also participating in the Voice Summer Tour 2014, a summer tour that began in San Antonio, Texas, and ended in Redmond, Washington, on August 2, 2014. Tessanne Chin, season 1's runner-up Dia Frampton, is among those featured, as well as third place finalist Christina Grimmie. Kristen Merlin, a Top 5 finalist, and Jake Barker, a top 20 finalist, followed her.
Lee would debut her 'Broken Ones' EP on September 29, 2014, and a pre-order was available on iTunes on October 6. On October 10, MTV premiered a lyric video for "Tears Fall."

In late 2017, Lee released The Only One, a digital EP. As opposed to Jacquie Lee, she began simply going by Jacquie instead of Jacquie Lee.
