Chance's recap of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" was posted on YouTube on April 28, 2010; the video gained no views for almost two weeks. On May 10, 2010, at least two social media pages, GossipBoy.com and reddit.com, published video embeds. It was embedded on ryanseacrest.com, a website that aims to track and forecast emerging viral internet memes that was published on BuzzFeed.com. TVGuide, The Huffington Post, and Yahoo! Video Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga's music blog embedded the video; TVGuide reported that a Facebook fan page for Chance had already been established. Later that evening, Ryan Seacrest and Ellen DeGeneres posted the video on their Twitter pages, as did actress Ashton Kutcher later that evening.

Chance's brother, Tanner Chance, wrote to her show requesting that she watch it for the first time. When DeGeneres first saw it, there had been around 10,000 views.

"The video has more than 36,000 views as of this writing, and he's even been invited to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show." Chance's booking on the show was announced at various times around the country and linked to her website on May 12, DeGeneres' announcement of Chance's booking on the show was broadcasted at various times throughout the United States. The Wall Street Journal and Los Angeles Times, among other mainstream media, embedded articles embedding the video and announcing the forthcoming appearance. In Los Angeles, Chance taped an interview and performance of "Paparazzi." Chance got a phone call from Lady Gaga, who says the boy is his "true inspiration" during the interview. ABC World News published a report on Chance that night, beginning with Diane Sawyer, who said the tale was "part Billy Elliot and part Glee." Chance's appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 13 was broadcast, and mainstream media, including CBS and People, announced the attendance. Ryan Seacrest added a link on Twitter this morning, this time to a video of Chance appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Chance launched a official Myspace page and a Twitter account on May 15, 2015. Chance performed his original song "Broken Hearts" on Ellen on May 26, 2010, earning $40,000 for winning Ellen's Wonderful Web of Wonderment, a brand new Yamaha piano, and she was announced as DeGeneres' first signed artist to her new recording company eleveneleven. She cited one reason for her decision to name her album band name, as well as the fact that she first saw Chance's "Paparazzi" newspaper on May 11, 2010. Chance's soccer jersey number 11 is also stated by the author. Guy Oseary, who oversees Madonna's career, and Troy Carter, who oversees Lady Gaga's career, will co-manage Chance's career, but no deal with a major recording company has been decided on.

The Christian Science Monitor investigated the case to see if it was legitimate or a clever marketing tactic, determining that the "video is legitimate" after its rapid rise, which included fast-web designs and high quality of the videos. Many of the same questions were asked in May 2010, including elements of Chance's "Paparazzi" video production, media industry analyst Alan Stevens, emphasized the growing inability within modern media culture to distinguish between videos that are produced by amateurs and videos that are made to appear amateur in origin.

On October 26, 2010, his debut single, "Waiting Outside the Lines," was released on iTunes. On December 9, it was announced digitally in the United Kingdom. The album also included a remix starring Filipino singer Jake Zyrus (then Charice), as well as studio versions of his covers of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" and "Fire" by Augustana. Chance appeared on We Day 2010 in downtown Toronto, where he appeared on local radio stations and gave private concerts in both cities. Chance appeared on CBS' Early Show "Waiting Outside the Lines" on CBS' Early Show on February 5, 2011, while touring New York on Miranda Cosgrove's Dancing Crazy Tour on February 5, 2011. On April 9 in Ivins, Utah, he began his Waiting 4U tour with Australian pop/R&B singer Cody Simpson. In Portland, Oregon, the tour came to an end on May 18, 2011.

Chance performed on May 17, 2011, his second single, "Unfriend You," was released to iTunes and May 23, and Chance traveled to The Ellen DeGeneres Show to premiere the single on May 17, 2011. Chance's debut date for his forthcoming debut album, Hold On 'Til the Night, was announced on August 2, 2011. Ariana Grande appears in the music video.

He appeared on Ellen DeGeneres Show to discuss his album and then revealed that he had taken his first steps into acting, playing a younger version of Jimmy Chance, the protagonist of Fox's comedy Raising Hope, in the second season premiere. On September 20, 2011, the episode premiered.

Chance undertook a tour of Southeast Asia in November 2011 to promote his album, which had just been announced in the region. In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the tour began, with Malaysian musician Najwa Latif also appearing in Singapore; Kota Kinabalu (Borneo, Malaysia); and Jakarta, Indonesia.

Chance returned to Asia in March 2012 to promote the debut of a limited edition of the album, which was released to the Asian market on March 20. He was accompanied by his complete four-part band and performed in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, and Manila before going on without the band on a promotional tour to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, Thailand. At the Sundance Film Festival, he performed the song. 2] Throughout the year, he continued writing and recording his EP Somewhere Over My Head. Chance released "Thrilla In Manila" on September 16, a single by Chance. On March 24, 2015, the singer "Meridians" was released on a new track. Both songs appeared on the final track list, but not so much so. On October 29, 2015, the official lead single, "Afterlife," was released. Both "Hit & Run" and "Back On The Wall" followed it on February 5 and April 29 as the second and third singles respectively. On April 28, he released a new music video for his single "Back On The Wall." The EP was released on May 13, 2016.

Chance performed three shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York City before the release of Somewhere Over My Head, from January 27 to February 1, 2016. On May 13, 2016, he had a launch party for his new EP in YouTube Space LA. Since the EP's debut in San Francisco and Seattle on May 28–29, he had two more shows.

Chance was also featured on an electronic dance track by tyDi and Jack Novak titled "Oceans," which was released on February 19, 2016.

He was named Elvis Duran's Artist of the Month in February 2016 and appeared on NBC's Today show hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and broadcast nationally where he performed live his single "Hit & Run" on NBC.

Chance returned to Asia in June 2016, one month after he had announced his latest EP, Somewhere Over My Head, beginning in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia, and Manila, Philippines.

Chance appeared in Frank Pole's "Anything" album on September 15, 2016. Chance performed "London" on December 23, 2016. Chance appears on Fabian Mazur's album "Earn It" on May 6, 2017. Chance's "Hungry Eyes" was released on May 12, 2017 as part of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack album. Chance performed "Seasons" on June 30, 2017.

Chance dropped his single "Low" on December 8, 2017, and on May 4, 2018, he released his single "Lighthouse" with Danish DJ & music producer Fabian Mazur. "Good As Gold," another single was released on June 8, 2018.

Portraits, his second studio album, was released on March 15, 2019. Chance signed his second major record deal with Sony Music Global and Arista Records, which will be released in June 2019 as a result of his own success. He also announced a world tour promoting Portraits in the same month.

Chance performed "Holy Feeling," the lead single from his forthcoming extended play, on January 15, 2021. On April 23, the second single, "Hellboy," was released. Chance revealed on April 29 that his third extended play, Trophies, would be released on June 25, 2021. He revealed in May that he would embarking on the Trophies World Tour, visiting various cities in North America and Europe between 2021 and 2022.

Chance would make his film debut in March 2022, playing in Perhapslline Prince.

Palladium, Chance's third studio album, was released on September 22, 2022.
