David Jamahl Listenbee was born in Princeton, New Jersey, and he was raised in Trenton, New Jersey. He lived in Chicago for many years before deciding to Los Angeles, California, at an early age. GoonRock concentrated heavily on hip hop early in his career, and he's sold some beats to artists such as Dr. Dre. He appeared at different times in Ne-Yo, Music Soulchild, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, and Juvenile. He appeared on the album "Watch the Throne (Kanye and Jay-Z) and was particularly interested in Beyoncé's song "Lift Off." He's also worked with Ryan Tedder.
