"Gucci Mane was the first [major artist] to ever rap on my beat," Mike Will said in a XXL interview. Mike will first met Gucci Mane at the Atlanta recording studio PatchWerk Recording Studios, and Gucci Mane proceeded to freestyle over each of the instrumentals after introducing himself and giving Gucci Mane a CD of beats. Mike Will $1,000 for one of his beats. The two artists began releasing songs together, such as "East Atlanta 6" and a number of songs from Gucci Mane's mixtape, No Pad, No Pencil. Mike Will's first single, "Tupac Back," was released by Meek Mill and Rick Ross of the compilation album Self Made Vol. 1. Nicki Minaj is facing a fresh court suit after a musician claimed she stole her beat in her 2014 album I Lied. According to TMZ, the 40-year-old rapper (born Onika Tanya Maraj) was sued alongside music producer Mike Will Made It by musician Julius Johnson. Johnson claims that the beat in I Lied, a track from her 2014 album The Pinkprint, was a 'carbon copy' of a beat he made for the 2011 song he released on YouTube, on mysleeve.
