Travis' lead singer and lyricist has written almost all of the songs on their first six studio albums, with the 7th and 8th being more of a co-written piece.
He is based in Berlin.

Early life
Healy was born in Stafford, England, and his mother's hometown was Glasgow, Scotland. After divorcing her husband, his mother returned to Scotland. Both his mother and grandmother, according to Healy, were major influences on him. Healy attended Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow.
After performing the old Scottish song "Westering Home" while dressed in a kilt, he was given a book of Robert Burns poems and a certificate "For Outstanding Singing Abilities." However, Healy showed no more enthusiasm for singing until his teens. He first started playing guitar when he heard Roy Orbison's hit "Pretty Woman" on The Last Resort with Jonathan Ross in 1986. Eddie Cochran's first songs on the guitar included old rock'n'roll hits such as "Johnny B. Goode" and "Three Steps to Heaven." Peter Mullen, the headmaster of his school, was writing "Mr. Mullen Blues" for the first time, with sample lyrics: "And Pete Mullen with his pie and beans." It had been a long time I remembered it, and it filled the room. Then some wee bugger set a match and the whole place went Ka-BOOM... where is your tie boy? Select a can. Do you know... eh... Get in line, girl... Pete Mullen is the name of a male character... Healy did it at the school talent show but ultimately failed to move the judges. He appeared in several school bands.
Personal life
He and his partner Nora and his son Clay, who immigrated from Berlin, now live in Los Angeles.
Healy would curate a new talent collection for Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in January 2008.
Healy and his wife became vegetarian in 2010 as a way to thank Paul McCartney for appearing on his solo album. McCartney has long argued for vegetarianism.
Healy competed for the Glasgow Athletics club Bellahouston Harriers in his youth and participated in the Berlin Relay Marathon in 2012.
Healy was described as a supporter of the Liberal Democrats in the 2005 general election. In a 2013 interview, he talked about a previous interview in which he appeared to criticize Alex Salmond, "I certainly came across as pro-Labour, but the truth is that I'm not pro-anyone."
