Solo career
In 1976, Carmen's first two solo singles were chart hits. Both were designed around Sergei Rachmaninoff's themes. "All by Myself" is Rachmaninoff's first of these singles, based on Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 1. 2 – first in the United States, and number 12 in the United Kingdom, where it was his first charting hit. Its over one million copies were sold and was given a gold disc by the R.I.A. In April 1976, the first in April was recorded. "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again" is the follow-up to Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2's slowed movement. 2 – debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, and hit number one on the US Adult Contemporary Chart as well as number nine on the Cash Box chart. Carmen released two more albums. Despite declining chart success, the single "Change of Heart" debuted in the pop Top 20 in late 1978 and single "It Hurts Too Much" debuted in 1980, but she briefly dropped out of the music industry in 1980, with Samantha Sang covering it. Carmen resurfaced on Geffen Records in 1985 with a second self-titled album and the big hit "I Wanta Hear It from Your Lips," a four-year-old woman.
