Enrique Iglesias Life

Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler (Spanish pronunciation: [enrike milesjas pejzle]; born 8 May 1975) is a Spanish singer and songwriter. He began his recording career in the mid-1990s on the Mexican indie label Fonovisa and became the hottest Spanish-language act of the decade. He made a fruitful switch into the mainstream English-language market by the turn of the millennium. He has signed a multi-album contract with Universal Music Latino, allowing him to debut Spanish albums and Interscope Records in English.

Iglesias parted with Interscope Records in 2010 and announced Republic Records, another Universal Music Group company, to produce bilingual albums. After being there for more than a decade, he resigned from Universal Music Group in 2015. Sony Music Latin and RCA Records in English announced him and his subsequent albums.

Iglesias is one of the top-selling Latin music artists worldwide, with estimated revenues of over 70 million dollars. He has had five Billboard Hot 100 top-five singles, including two number ones. Iglesias currently ranks number one on the Greatest of All-Latin Artists charts as of October 2020. With 27 songs on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and 24 songs, Iglesias holds the most number one songs on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, as well as the Latin Pop Airplay chart with 24 songs. On Billboard's Dance charts, Iglesias has 14 number ones, more than any other male artist. He has been dubbed the King of Latin Pop by the Latin Pop Society. Billboard magazine ranked him as the 14th most influential and top male dance club artist of all time in December 2016.

Early life

Iglesias was born in Madrid, Spain, as the third and youngest child of Spanish singer Julio Iglesias and Filipina socialite and magazine reporter Isabel Preysler's third child. Julio's father is regarded as the most profitable continental European singer in the world. Iglesias' mother, Chábeli and Julio Jr., was one of his mother's aunts, and grandmother Steven R. McQueen. His father's relatives are from Galicia and Andalusia, and his grandfather has traces of Jewish and Puerto Rican ancestry on his mother's side.

Later in life, Iglesias discovered that he was born with a rare congenital disorder called situs inversus, where some of the body's key organs, such as the heart, are located on the opposite side of the body from where they would normally be located.

Iglesias and his two siblings stayed with their mother at first, but Dr. Julio Iglesias Puga, Iglesias, was kidnapped by the armed Basque group ETA in December 1981. Enrique and his mother spent a year in Belgrade, Yugoslav capital, when he was six years old.

Enrique and his brother Julio were sent to live with their father and his girlfriend at the time, Venezuelan model Virginia Sipli in Miami for their security. They were mostly brought up by Elvira Olivares, to whom Enrique later dedicated his first album.

Education

Iglesias attended Gulliver Preparatory School, a private high school in Miami, where he appeared in his first live performance in a school production of Hello Dolly. He continued to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where he studied finance but then dropped out after a year.

Iglesias performed his first album in Toronto after dropping out of University of Miami.

Personal life

Iglesias began a friendship with Russian tennis player Anna Kournikova in late 2001. The couple have a son and daughter, who are fraternal twins, who were born on December 16, 2017. They had their third child, a daughter, on January 30, 2020, and they had planned to have them on the 30th of January 2020. They live in Miami, Florida.

Iglesias underwent surgery in 2003 to remove a circular mole from the right side of his face, citing fears that over time it might become cancerous.

Enrique Iglesias Career

Music career

Iglesias didn't want his father to know about his plans for a career in music, and did not want his common surname to help advance his career. He borrowed money from his family's nanny in Toronto and made a demo cassette tape that featured a Spanish song and two English songs. Fernán Martez, his father's former publicist, performed the songs under the name Enrique Martnez, according to the two performers who had a history of being a Guatemalan singer. Iglesias was signed to Fonovisa Records.

Iglesias unveiled Enrique Iglesias, a series of light rock ballads, on November 21, 1995, with hits including "Si T' Te Vas" and "Experiencia Religiosa." The Mexican label Fonovisa released this album, as well as Iglesias' next two albums. The record sold half a million copies in its first week, much more than for an album released in a different language other than English. Within the first week of its release, Portugal took home gold, and over a million copies in the next three months.

His album "Por Amarte" was included in Televisa's telenovela Marisol, but with a twist: the phrase was Por amarte Marisol morira (To love you, Marisol, I'd die). The CD also came in Italian and Portuguese versions, with the majority of the songs translating into those languages.

Five singles were released from the album, including "Por Amarte," "No Llores Por M," and "Trapecista," all of which appeared on Billboard's Latin charts. The album also holds the most popular singles on Billboard's Hot Latin songs chart. The album went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Performance at Iglesias.

Iglesias' fame with the introduction of Vivir (To Live), which put him up against other English-language music superstars in sales for the year. The album also included a cover version of the Yazoo song "Only You" in Spanish, which was transcribed into Spanish as "Solo en T" on the record.

Three singles from Vivir were released: "Enamorado Por Primera Vez," "Sólo en Ti," and "Miente," top the Latin singles chart, as well as ones from several Spanish-speaking countries. Iglesias, his father and Luis Miguel, were nominated for an American Music Award in the first-ever category of Favorite Latin Artist. Iglesias lost out on his father, but they did a good job with the song "Lluvia Cae" at the concert.

Insisting on playing stadiums for his first concert tour, Iglesias, backed by sidemen for Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, and Billy Joel, performed to sold-out audiences in sixteen countries. The tour continued in Odessa, Texas, to over 20,000 people in two nights at Montery's Plaza de Toros, two nights in a row, as well as 19 arenas in the United States, including two in Odessa, Texas.

Iglesias' third album Cosas del Amor (Things of Love) was released in 1998. The album, which was aided by the hit singles "Esperanza" and "Nunca Te Olvidaré," both of which topped the Latin singles chart, helped cement his place in the Latin music scene, albeit in a more mature musical direction.

To promote the album's launch, Iglesias hosted a short tour of smaller venues, with one of them being televised from Acapulco, Mexico. This was followed by a larger world tour of over eighty shows in even bigger venues. The Cosas del Amor Tour was the first ever concert tour to be sponsored by McDonald's.

Against Ricky Martin and Chayanne, he received the American Music Award in the category of Favorite Latin Artist against Ricky Martin and Chayanne. The song "Nunca te Olvidaré" was also used as the theme music for a Spanish soap opera of the same name, and he performed the song himself on the last episode of the series.

Iglesias began a fruitful crossover career in 1999 with a successful English-language music market. Due to other successful crossover acts, including Ricky Martin, Latino artists and music, mainstream music has seen a big rise in popularity this year. Will Smith, who appeared at one of his concerts in March 1999, begged Iglesias to help with his movie Wild Wild West's soundtrack. His contribution "Bailamos" was announced as a single and became the nation's number one hit.

Many major record labels were eager to sign Iglesias following the success of "Bailamos." Iglesias recorded and released his first full album in English, Enrique, after weeks of discussions with Interscope. The pop album, which had some Latin influences, took two months to complete. It contained the song "Rhythm Divine," a duet with Whitney Houston titled "Could I Have This Kiss Forever," as well as a Bruce Springsteen song "Sad Eyes."

Iglesias appeared on stage with Christina Aguilera, Phil Collins, and Toni Braxton in 2000 at the Super Bowl XXIV halftime show. Howard Stern, a shock jock, appeared on a tape of a supposedly off-key Iglesias on his radio show and accused him of not being able to perform live. Iglesias performed the song live on Stern's show on June 8, 2000, with just a guitar accompanying him. "I admire you for coming in here; you can really sing," Stern said after the performance. The recording may have been him, according to Iglesias, but that it was most likely a recording made during a television taping in which he was expected to lip sync and not sing properly. He'll say that the scandal was the best advertising he could have. "Be With You," the album's second top-one hit on Billboard's Hot 100, became Iglesias' second number-one single.

Iglesias' second English-language album Escape was released in 2001. Although most of the Latin crossover acts of the previous year had trouble matching the album's record sales, Iglesias' first English-language albums' record, went on to sell even more, with the album being designated Diamond for shipments of over ten million copies. "Hero," the album's first single, became a number one hit in the United Kingdom and several other countries. Iglesias co-authored the entire album.

Escape is his best commercial triumph to date. The singles "Escape" and "Don't Turn Off the Lights" became radio hits, with many charts ranking highly or otherwise. A second edition of the album was released around the world, featuring a new version of "Maybe," as well as a Lionel Richie duet "To Love a Woman."

With his "One-Night Stand World Tour," a series of fifty sold-out shows in sixteen countries, Iglesias capitalized on the album's success. The tour ended with a big display at Lia Manoliu Stadium in Bucharest, Romania, with Radio City Music Hall and three nights in a row in London's Royal Albert Hall. The concert aired on MTV Romania, with "Love to See You Cry" being the first to be broadcast on the channel.

Iglesias' fourth Spanish-language album, Quizás, was released in 2002 (Perhaps). The album's title track is a song about the tense relationship Iglesias has with his popular father, which is more polished musical production than his previous Spanish albums and featuring more introspective songs.

The album debuted on the Billboard 200 albums chart at number 12, the highest ranking of a Spanish-language album on the chart at the time. Quizás also sold a million copies in a week, making it the country's fastest-selling album in five years. All three singles from the album ended up on the Latin charts, with Iglesias receiving a total of sixteen number ones on the chart. On Billboard's Latin Chart, he currently holds the most number-one singles. Iglesias' album "Para Qué La Vida" made it to a million spins on U.S. radio, becoming the first Latin act to do so. The album's "Quizás" video was the first Spanish-language music video to be included in MTV's Most Popular Show Total Request Live's first category.

He began in 2000 with a tour of the Americas. In the summer of 2002, the "Don't Turn Off the Lights" tour was complete, with two sold-out nights in Madison Square Garden and two others in Mexico's National Auditorium. In San Juan, Puerto Rico, the tour came to an end with a single show.

Iglesias' seventh album, which he titled 7, was his second to be co-written by him by 2003. It features "Roamer," which was cowritten with his buddy and longtime guitarist Tony Bruno, among its more 1980s-inspired music. The album also had the song "Be Yourself," a tribute to freedom; the chorus discusses how Iglesias' own parents did not believe he'd ever be a success in his singing career. The first single featured Kelis and was closely followed by a remix of the song "Not in Love."

Iglesias' biggest world tour to date was on this album. Iglesias' appearance at Houston Rodeo brought the much-anticipated tour to a number of countries, the majority of which he'd never visited before, including South Africa, where he began with twelve shows in the United States and ended with twelve shows before concluding his tour in South Africa.

Iglesias' latest album Insomniac was released on June 12, 2007, following a two-year absence. Due to the album's being released mostly at night, it was so named. The album had a more modern pop style than that of his previous albums. Its highlights include rapper Lil Wayne's "Push," "Ring My Bells," and a preview of Ringside's "We're Sorry."

The album's first single, "Do You Know?

On April 10, 2007, Ping Pong Songs (The Ping Pong Song)" was released. It was the highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 since "Escape." The song was also a hit in Europe, with many countries ranked in the top ten. For eleven weeks, the Spanish version of the song, titled "Descilo," became the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart's second best performing song on the chart at the time.

In North America, Iglesias performed the ballad "Somebody's Me" which was released as a single. The song appeared on AC radio and peaked on Billboard's Hot AC. The second single in Europe was "Totaliation" and had success in several countries; he released a French singer N'diya's version, which was number one in France for eleven weeks. To the soundtrack of the film Step Up 2 the Streets, a solo version of "Push" was added. The song was released as the album's third single. The film's lead actors appear in a music video. Despite never being introduced to radio, the album has been on sale in a multitude of nations.

Iglesias was the first Western artist to perform a concert in Syria in three decades when he appeared in the capital Damascus for a sold-out audience of ten thousand people, and in the same week, he appeared on Live Earth in Hamburg.

Insomniac World Tour was unveiled at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg, South Africa, the same venue where he began his last world tour, and it took him to sold-out arenas around Europe. It was his first arena tour of the United Kingdom, with him appearing in venues such as Manchester's MEN Arena and Wembley Arena. Iglesias performed at the newly opened L.A. Live, bringing the tour to a close conclusion. From Mexico to Argentina, he went on tour of Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina.

The official song of the UEFA Euro 2008 football tournament, Iglesias' "Can You Hear Me," was selected. He performed the song live in Vienna, Austria, on June 29, 2008. The song appeared on a re-issue of Insomniac, which was available in several countries.

On March 25, 2008, Iglesias released a Spanish greatest hits album titled 95/08 Éxitos, which featured his seventeen number one songs on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart as well as two new songs. "Dónde Están Corazón" was the first single from the album. "Isco's first book, "Mesto Argentinian Coti," became Iglesias' eighteenth number-one single on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs. The album debuted on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, ranked first on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart, and eighth on the overall Billboard 200 albums chart. It was Iglesias' second Spanish album to debut in the top 20 of the Billboard 200 (Quizás debuted at number twelve in 2002). In the United States and several Latin American countries, the album was rated double platinum (Latin field).

"Lloro Por Ti," the album's second single, debuted at number one on the Hot Latin Songs chart and featured Wisin & Yandel in a official remix. To promote the compilation, Iglesias went on tour around the United States. He was on tour with bachata band Aventura, who also performed "Lloro Por Ti" with him at the 2008 Premios Juventud, beginning in La La Pazo, Texas, and ending at the Izod Center in New Jersey.

Iglesias was a surprise performer at the 2008 Lo Nuestro Awards, opening the program with a medley of "Dónde Están Corazón" ("Dónde Están Corazón"). "D"melo" and "D"melo" are two of the songs. He also performed at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, where he was given a special award.

Iglesias unveiled a series of his English-language hits on November 11 after the success of his Spanish greatest hits compilation. The album includes "Can You Hear Me" as well as two new songs. Sean Garrett appears in "Away" and "Takin' Back My Love" featuring Ciara followed him. The album debuted at number three on the official UK Albums Chart and sold over 80,000 copies in its first two weeks of release alone.

At the awards ceremony in Monaco on November 9, 2008, Iglesias was the winner of two World Music Awards in the categories of "Best Selling Latin Artist" and "World's Best Selling Spanish Artist."
