Alba Farelo (born c. 1997, also known as Bad Gyal) is a Spanish singer and producer.

Early life

Alba Farelo i Solé was born in Vilassar de Mar, Barcelona, on March 7, 1997. Farelo, the eldest of five children, is the niece of Eduard Farelo, a voice actor who appeared in international productions such as The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. Farelo obtained a degree in fashion design at the University of Barcelona after being rejected for selective work. She started "Pai" in April 2016, an extension of "Work" by Rihanna in the Catalan language while studying at university and working at a call center. She claimed she never intended for the song to be viral and that she just did it to make a funny memory for her group of friends. However, Farelo was one of Catalan's first artists to perform typically Latin music genres and was named one of Spain's most influential musical guarantees after the cover was picked up by a local radio. She decided to leave college to pursue a career in music while working in a bakery in her hometown. She began performing covers and playing music in nightclubs in Barcelona's province. She later became more involved in making her own music, and with the money she earned out of these gigs, she rented recording studios for limited hours and recruited some editors. "Indapanden" and "No Pierdo Nada" would be released by the singer later this year, as well as other Fakeguido songs.

Career

"Pai" rose to fame on YouTube, and a local radio picked up Slow Wine Mixtape, which resulted in the development of a mixtape, alongside producer Pablo Martez. The soundsystem festival was expected to kick off a major Spanish and Latin American leg starting 8 March 2020, but it was only able to do three shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the whole tour was postponed to 2021, appearances at festivals including Estéo Picnic and Primavera Sound were postponed, so was the entire tour.

Farelo appeared on Kafu Banton's "Teres un bom bom," which would later be reimagined in collaboration with Guaynaa during the pandemic. Later today, she released "Aprendiendo el sexo," with a music video made by Canada and shot at the luxurious W Hotel Barcelona. She partnered Juanka and released "Blin blin" to commercial success and public acclaim in November. The track became famous in her home country, and TikTok was a popular tool. She has also collaborated with Vodafone to produce a unique virtual concert.

Bad Gyal's first extended play Warm Up was released on 19 March 2021, as her new launches include the controversial Rauw Alejandro "Zorra" remix and the YouTube-censored "Pussy." In Spain, the EP reached its high point at 5 a.m. She has also collaborated with clothing brand Bershka and launched an exclusive clothing collection. Farelo's "Flow 2000" as well as the three-side single Soundsystem: the Final Releases containing songs she had been performing live for years but no one had been announced.
