Andrew John "Drew" Lachey (born August 8, 1976) is an American singer and actor.

He is best known as the winner of the second season of Dancing with the Stars, and Nick Lachey's younger brother.

Early years

Drew Lachey was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a combat medic in the US Army, worked in a restaurant, and was a camp counselor at the age of 16. He attended the Clovernook Elementary School in North College Hill, Ohio (a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio), then attended the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) in the Cincinnati, Ohio Public School District.

Personal life

On October 14, 2000, Lachey married Lea Dellecave. They were both childhood and high school sweethearts, and she was the choreographer for 98 degrees as well as one of the dancers. Their daughter was born on March 23, 2006 in Los Angeles, California, and she weighed 7 lb 2 oz (3.2 kg). Their son was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 15, 2010. Both of them also run a Cincinnati-area performing arts day camp.

Career

Lachey, Nick Lachey, and other band members, Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons, were all members of the pop group 98 Degrees. Since 98 Degrees, Lachey appeared on Hollywood Squares in 2001 as Mark Cohen and appeared on Broadway in the musical Rent from January 3 to March 21, 2005, and has appeared on Nick's MTV program Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. Lachey joined Monty Python's Spamalot in June 2008 as Patsy, King Arthur's faithful servant, and remained with the show for three months.

Lachey, a professional dancer, appeared on Dancing with the Stars' second season. Lachey and Burke raked out a perfect score of 30 in their tango at the start of the sixth week of competition (aird in February 2006). They received a score of 30 on each of their two dances, the Paso Doble and freestyle, in the eighth and final week of the week, giving them the highest score of the week. They were crowned Dancing with the Stars champions on February 26, 2006.

With Access Hollywood actress Nancy O'Dell, Lachey co-hosted the 2006 Miss USA pageant. On April 21, 2006, the pageant was televised live from Baltimore, Maryland.

Drew toured both Canada and the United States for the Dancing with the Stars Tour from December 2006 to February 2007. Lachey's "Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)" freestyle dance with Cheryl Burke was on the show on April 17, 2007. He hosted the first three weeks of Dancing with the Stars, temporarily replacing Samantha Harris during her maternity absence. For one episode, Tom stepped in for him. Lachey was able to dance a foxtrot with Cheryl when Gloria Estefan was forced to pull out of the show on October 16, 2007, for personal reasons.

When Drew's brother Nick Simpson teamed with Chip Foose to steal and modify Drew's 1967 Ford truck, he was featured on the show Overhaulin'.

Lachey was also a host of HGTV's spring 2009 reality show where five neighboring families competed for the opportunity to win $250,000 to pay off their mortgage by competing in home-improvement challenges.

Corny Collins appeared in a production of Hairspray at Pittsburgh's Benedum Center in 2010.
