Danny Lloyd Career

Life and career

Lloyd was born in Tremont, Illinois. Danny Torrance's first and most well-known role in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (1980) is his first and best-known role. He was chosen for the position because of his ability to maintain his focus for long stretches of time. Kubrick was able to film all of Lloyd's scenes without the six-year-old actor knowing he was in a horror film, according to Garrett Brown and John Baxter's DVD commentary. He was led to believe he was just acting in a drama film about a family who lives in a hotel.

Lloyd was filmed in Making The Shining (1980), a documentary film directed by Kubrick's daughter, Vivian Kubrick. Despite his well-received role in The Shining, Lloyd deferred from acting at the age of ten after appearing as young G. Gordon Liddy (1982).

Lloyd began as an associate professor at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, in 2004.

Lloyd played in a cameo role as a fan at a baseball game in the Shining sequel Doctor Sleep, his first acting role in 36 years.
