Cher Lloyd (born 28 July 1993) is an English singer, songwriter, and model.

Following the seventh series finale, she was signed to Syco Music.

Lloyd's debut single, "Swagger Jagger", was released in July 2011 and entered at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Her second single, "With Ur Love" featuring Mike Posner, was released on 31 October 2011, and peaked at number four on the UK Singles Chart.

The album peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart while the latter version debuted at number nine in the US Billboard 200.

Lloyd signed to US record label Epic Records in 2011. Lloyd achieved mainstream success in the US with the solo version of her single "Want U Back", which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Her next song "Oath", featuring American rapper Becky G, failed to match the success, peaking at 73.

She released her second album, Sorry I'm Late in May 2014, preceded by the lead single, "I Wish".

The album failed to match the success of its predecessor, peaking at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart and number 12 on the Billboard 200.

After a collaboration with singer Demi Lovato, Lloyd had a two-year absence from the music industry. In July 2016, Lloyd released the single "Activated".

The song was described as a "memo of Cher to her fans to say she is back and she is stronger than ever".

Lloyd released the singles "None of My Business" and "M.I.A." in 2018 and 2019, respectively.

Cher Lloyd Career

Career

Lloyd had previously applied for The X Factor (when the minimum age was lower), singing ballads, but did not make it to the audition stage. She had appeared at holiday camps before and said she had mixed reactions to her music, but she was not a big success with X Factor judges at the time. She auditioned for Soulja Boy's "Turn My Swag On" in Keri Hilson's version. She performed a rap version of "Viva La Vida" at bootcamp. She sang of "Cooler Than Me" at the judges' houses but was unable to finish the song because of tonsillitis.

In the first of the live shows, Lloyd performed a version of "Just Be Good to Me." She appeared on "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) in her second live show. She performed "Stay" and "Shout" in the third live show, and in the fourth live show, she sang "Mounty" and "Shout." This was the first time Lloyd did not rap in her appearance, and Cowell even called it "the performance of the series." Lloyd performed "Empire State of Mind" in week five, but the judges reported that after the previous week's disappointment, they were dissatisfied. However, they agreed that she redeemed herself with her interpretation of "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" mixed with "Mockingbird," by Elton John and Eminem, respectively, in week 6. Lloyd was in the bottom two for the first time after her appearance of "Imagine," but Cowell, Cole, and Walsh saved her in the final showdown. Lloyd sang of "Girlfriend" and "Walk This Way" in the ensuing week. Both performances were praised by the judges, and she was saved by the public vote the next night, guaranteeing her place in the semifinals. Lloyd performed "Nothin' on You" and "Love the Way You Lie" in the semifinals and was in last two with Mary Byrne in the bottom two. She was saved by the judges once more and moved to the final. She performed a mashup of "The Clapping Song" and "Get Ur Freak On" in the final, followed by a duet with will.i.am, which was a mash-up of "Where Is the Love?" "I Gotta Feeling." Lloyd was later voted out of fourth place after receiving the fewest public votes.

Lloyd and nine other contestants from the series appeared in the X Factor Live Tour from February 2011 to April 2011. Lloyd performed for 500,000 people around the United Kingdom on the tour.

Lloyd had been signed to Syco Music following the conclusion of the seventh series of The X Factor. The Runners' debut studio album was released a few weeks after, with songwriter Autumn Rowe and producers RedOne, Johnny Powers, and The Runners. During a UStream session on July 28, Lloyd preview five tracks from the album, including singles starring Busta Rhymes, Mike Posner, Ghetts, Mic Righteous, and Dot Rotten.

Lloyd's debut single, "Swagger Jagger," was launched in July 2011 and landed at number one on the UK Singles Chart, with sales exceeding 303,000 copies in the United Kingdom. The single charted charted at number two on the Irish Singles Chart in the Republic of Ireland. On the Mega Top 100 in the Netherlands, the single debuted at number 79. After a performance in the finals of So You Think You Can Dance, the album climbed to number 60 on the charts. On November 4, Lloyd's debut studio album, Sticks + Stones, was released. The album debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart and peaked at number seven in Ireland. In its first week, the album was out of print, selling 55,668 copies. With first-week sales of 74,030 copies, Mike Posner's second single, "With Ur Love," debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number four. When the album debuted at number one in August 2011, it sold more than the first single. 66,316 copies were sold. "With Ur Love" became the highest-selling number four single since Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," which sold 74,248 copies in 2010. With sales of 9,730, the third single, "Want U Back," starring American rapper Astro, debuted at number 56 and has since risen 30 places to number 26.

Lloyd announced the Sticks and Stones Tour, her debut headlining UK tour, in November 2011. Mic Righteous, Dot Rotten, and Ghetts, among other underground performers, appeared in the accompanying video on December 13. Due to high demand for tickets, two more dates were added to the calendar in December 2011. Lloyd is a member of the Logan Media Entertainment company, owned by Craig Logan, John Black, and Christie LaRocque.

Lloyd signed a landmark deal with L.A. Reid in the United States in December 2011; a solo version of "Want U Back" was announced as Lloyd's debut single in the United States and the first one from the American and Australian release of Sticks and Stones. The song was released in May 2012 and debuted at number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart before gaining to number 12. It also ranked 9 on Billboard Pop Songs, number 5 on Digital Songs, number 39 on the Hot 100 Airplay, and number 23 on Adult Pop Songs. It also debuted at number 95 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart, and peaked at number 11. The track has sold over 2,000,000 copies in the United States and nearly 3,000,000 copies worldwide as of February 2013. On October, the second US single, "Oath," starring American rapper Becky G, was released, but it failed to meet its predecessor's popularity, peaking at number 73 in the US Billboard Hot 100. Following the huge success of "Want U Back," which reached number three in New Zealand, "Oath" made a respectable debut, peaking at number 13 for Lloyd's third straight Top 20 hit in the country. Sticks and Stones, both in the United States and Australia, were published on Epic Records on October 2nd, 2012. In its first week, this edition debuted at number nine in the United States, selling 32,948 copies; as of September 2017, the country has sold more than 250,000 copies. In Australia, the album debuted at number three. Lloyd was a fan of American band Hot Chelle Rae on the Australian leg of their Whatever World Tour in October 2012.

Lloyd announced that recording had started for her second studio album, including new songwriters and producers such as Beth Ditto and Tove Lo. Lloyd revealed in January 2013 that she would appear on Big Time Rush as a guest star. Lloyd revealed in April 2013 that she and Ne-Yo will collaborate on a new Fruttare song "It's All Good," which premiered in June of that year. Lloyd revealed in November 2013 that she and Cowell disagreed on her career choice in music during an interview with Larry King. Lloyd was also confirmed that the album, which was originally planned to be released in November, was delayed until early 2014, despite the record being broken.

She also revealed that her I Wish Tour would take place in the fall of 2013 and that the girl group Fifth Harmony will be the opening act. Lloyd appeared on "Really Don't Care," Demi Lovato's fourth album Demi, peaking at number one on the US Dance chart and debuted at number 98 before gaining to top position number 26.

Sorry I'm Late, Lloyd's second studio album, released on May 23, 2014, and it reached number 12 on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album debuted at number 58 on the Irish Albums Chart, while the UK Albums Chart debuted at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart. "I Wish," a lead single starring American rapper T.I., debuted on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart at number 17 in the United States. It also appeared on the ARIA Singles Chart at number 40, with New Zealand at number 16 on the top, while in New Zealand at number 16. On the US Billboard Pop Digital Songs chart, the second single, "Sirens," debuted at number 48. The song also appeared on the UK Singles Chart at number 41, where it is currently at number 41. Despite the album's poor chart success, the album sold 41,000 copies in the United States.

Lloyd was taken from Epic's website following the label's unveiling of Sorry I'm Late, causing the suspicion that she had been dropped by the brand. Lloyd had signed a new deal with Universal Music Group and was recording on her third studio album when it was revealed in November 2014.

Lloyd broke her silence in March 2016 by posting a video on her social media pages. Lloyd says, "I just want to say thank you so much for being so generous." Although the wait has been a long time, it's definitely worth the wait, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it." In an interview with New You Media, Lloyd said that her third album is almost finished. Lloyd teased the unveiling of her latest album, "Activated," on social media on July 15; the album premiered on July 22, 2016. Lloyd announced in May 2017 that she had signed with ie:music.

She was the featured vocalist on Swedish singer Joakim Molitor's track "4U" in 2018. Lloyd performed "None of My Business" alongside the music video on October 19, 2018. M.I.A.A.'s single "M.I.A" was released on October 11, 2019. The song will be her lead single from her forthcoming third studio album. Lloyd premiered the single "Lost" alongside the music video on April 24, 2020.
